How To Get NOC of Mobile Phone Import From PTA

AOA Folks,

For those who do not know that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has implemented a new policy that all mobile phone importers and manufacturers have to get an approval or No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from PTA of IMEI numbers of mobile phones.

Note: This is only for those who send or import via courier company or by Post.
You can bring mobile phone by hand without NOC but you have to open box and put mobile phone in your pocket and box in Baggage or luggage otherwise you have to show NOC.


Now How to get No Objection Certificate (NOC) from PTA ? Many of us need answer to this question because we want to order new mobile phone online and we need to show NOC to custom authority in order to clear it.

All you have to do is send the following document to Director Numbering and Type Approval Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on the following E-Mail address.


  1. Application for request (Address to Director Type approval) with all information like Name, address, CNIC, IMEI No, Quantity, Airway Bill or courier tracking number.
  2. Copy of shipment document. (Your courier company will provide you i.e.)
  3. Copy of CNIC
  4. Custom letter and name of location where Mobile was confiscated.
  5. Tracking Number

Send all these documents to the following email address.

You can also post above mention documents to following address but it will take more time: (Sending Via TCS will decrease time)

Note:

How to get custom letter
Your courier company will provide you. In case of Pakistan Post you have to get shipping and custom letter from General Post Office.
Please do not forget to write courier tracking or Airway Bill number in your application and Mobile IMEI Number.

@OP: I don't get what you've written in point 4. Can you please elaborate?

How much approx duty on a smartphone that has been labeled as 'scrap/parts' with declared value near $50? Actual value near $200-250

a single mobile phone labeled as scrap does not matter, because if it work's or work after repairing it will be fulfilling the basic functions of a mobile. it will also need noc from pta to import. duty on mobile phone is 500 to 1000 rupees only but the other charges custom like civil avitiation charges, godown charges, etc will be around 5k to 10k rupees. but if you are talking about part of a phone like screen, speaker etc then i a not sure about it

Send them email with all documents two days ago still no reply/acknowledgement. Anyone know what is normal processing time of N.O.C ?

PTA never replied the email, have to submit all documents via TCS and received N.O.C letter after 5 days via Tcs.

Custom clearance and NOC

Ok so i ordered a note 3 off ebay through paypal for 360$ white-gold colour, the shipper took 30$ extra for expressmail shipping

I will tell you the whole procedure and stuff

First of all I received a letter from DHL stating that my phone was confiscated at karachi custom clearance port and I need to provide them with NOC letter from PTA before I can pay custom and get my phone
I emailed PTA [email protected]
  1. Application for request (Address to Director Type approval) with all information like Name, address, CNIC, IMEI No, Quantity, [COLOR=#5939AA !important]Airway Bill[/COLOR] or courier [COLOR=#5939AA !important]tracking number[/COLOR].
  2. Copy of shipment document. (Your courier company will provide you i.e.)
  3. Copy of CNIC
  4. [COLOR=#5939AA !important]Custom letter[/COLOR] and name of location [COLOR=#5939AA !important]where Mobile[/COLOR] was confiscated.
  5. Tracking Number

there was no reply for 5 days then I tcs all these things to their address

Fax: 051-9225359

and I got a NOC letter after 11 days

I took the NOC letter to DHL and they gave me the custom letter which had
1000 rupees duty
1000 rupees civil aviation
tax 500
it altogether was 4500 rupees

i paid the 4500 rupees and received the phone that's how the custom system works in Pakistan
the phone costed me almost the same as it does in market so i will suggest you guys get it from market instead

The information you provided was very heplful for me. But is this the same process when someone send a smartphone as a gift to Pakistan. I sent a Samsung galaxy note 3 to my father few day before. Its not new I used it for 6 months or so. He also got a letter from custom dept where its written that in case of mobile phone NOC form PTA is required.
But second problem is that IMEI no is also needed but I dont know the number unless we open the phone.

Any suggestions

You must have used a Google Account to use the phone, sign in to Account Manager, find your list of devices, the IMEI of the Note 3 should be listed there.
