Thoughts on cousin marraige..??

yup ... but you can have blood tests before marriage to stay a bit safe for future ...

and I have alot of cases of diseases in childern due to cousin marriage in my family ....

To many inter family marriages cause medical problems , but if there are few marriages in ur family with family , then it's no issue .
our family stopped 2 gen ago with interrelated marriages cause 1-2 children's were born abnormal having mental illness

Excessive in breeding can be problematic. Wether or not it will be a problem for you will depend on your family history, if there have already been alot of cousin marriages among the previous gen in your family then it would be best to avoid getting married to your cousin.

BTW if your MOM is your father's neice? You can avoid all these types of confusion by marrying outside the family as well. Ideally it's best to find a partner as different from you genetically as possible.

^^If that's the case then your Mom and Dad are related to one another as your mom is your father's sister's daughter or your father's niece. So there is a blood link.

Look if you marry your cousin chances are your kids will be fine or they might have abnormalities, there's no guarantee either way, still It'd be better to marry someone outside the family or to someone who isn't related as closely as a first cousin.

Not likely but absolutely possible for your offsprings to have some defect. With each successive cousin marriage the chance is greater. However little chance there is, the gravity of disease is severe enough to deter most people. I mean its not like 1 apple with a problem among a total of 2,3,4,5 or whatever, so that you just get another. A single person is extremely important, and a single capability/feature of a person is important.(In non-cousin marriages, there is also a chance but usually extremely minute compared to this). If parents of you both, and the parents of your parents and so on, have been marrying outside the family, it is highly likely any problem you can have in your(you and your proposed mate) genes, would not have appeared since it was masked. So, in family history, you might not find any abnormality which could have been carried on, hidden. If that particular thing is common to both of you, there is some chance it would appear. However, you can also do tests at particular time of child's growth inside the mother, to see for some of the normally known problems. But this situation is also quite odd, deciding whether you would continue the pregnancy or stop. So, its an odd situation but it is always unpredictable in any(cousin and unrelated, although less so in latter) case so....... idk

So "HER" Parents might be cousins as well? that will raise the chances of genetic abnormalities if she gets married to a cousin as well like her parents. But like I said there are no guarantees. Your kids might just be fine but there's a risk so do what you think is best.

You can have genetic screening of both partners to know if there is a possibility of having offspring that has some genetic condition. Check with some doctor for more info.

I think there is also some law in Pakistan that requires such testing to avoid diseases like Thalasemia.

While cousin marriage certainly does increase the likelihood of certain genetic disorders, we often ignore the other side of the coin. When marrying a cousin you have at least some idea of her family's medical history. When marrying someone outside the family you know absolutely nothing about which genetic disorders may be prevalent in the family of your partner.

The best option is that you get yourself and your future partner screened for the most common genetic disorders like Thalassemia etc and then hope for the best. If you really want to be thorough then there are a lot of advanced genetic tests available but it is usually not worth it because this is largely a matter of chance.

There are too many other important factors to consider when making a decision about marriage. The fact that she is your cousin and the whole medical aspect should only be part of the consideration.

cousins marriage is also forbidden in Islam. i have heard somewhere that in a Hadees, though not sure if it is authentic or not.

Either way the consequences could be still not favourable in such marriages. My brother's married wid my mamu's daughter and 2 out of 4 children born abnormal and died within 2 yrs.
still there are lots of reasons to this but cousin's marriage is also a factor.
