Hello.

Recently my China controller broke down (like they do within 3 or so months). I want to invest big time in a controller this time. But I want something that will work for long, like atleast ~18 months. I need it to play games with my PC.

I have a few options:
1) PS3 wireless controller (with Bluetooth receiver). I am using Windows 8 so we will have to see how it works with that. WiiMote works fine with the PC on that Bluetooth receiver.
2) A Logitech Dual Action Joypad (I heard you can remap controls through its software, unlike China controllers in which you have to work with X360ce, but if game doesn't support X360ce, you are doomed).
3) A Wired Xbox 360 controller. This is what I am actually looking for, but cannot find it legit, or price is too high.
4) A Wireless Xbox360 controller with a china signal receiver.
5) Buy 500 RS china controller and pray it doesn't crap out again.

Okay so what I am looking in a controller:
Must be cheap. Like ~2000 RS. Can buy slightly used as well.
Must be sturdy as hell (I know that X360 legit ones are very sturdy).
Must be compatible with most games (XInput and DInput support, my China one has both).

__

Is the PS3 controller sturdy as hell?
Will it work with my PC well? (Windows 8 64 bits).
Are games compatible with it (Mark Of The Ninja wasn't compatible with X360ce, so couldn't play it with my China controller).

Thank you for taking out the time to answer my queries.

You can buy a PS3 controller and connect it with a USB cable and use MotionJoy to play games with it. MotionJoy will make your controller seem like a Xbox 360 controller so if the game supports a Xbox 360 controller then you're good to go.

But are they sturdy enough that they will work for a year or so at least? Considering I will play an hour a day average with it.

Bro, its better to purchase a made for PC controller. Logitech has many. I personally use Logitech Chillstream joypad......so far....ALL of the pc games have been compatible. You'll have to use an emulator for Ps3 controller so the experience won't be the same.
But to answer your question.....the ps3 controller wil last as long as you treat it right. Just make sure kids don't treat it like a hammer and it'll last you for years.

an hour? Pfftttt that's nothing. I've played for 3 hours straight and it was all good. I've been using my PS3 controller for almost 2 years and not a single problem.

I am talking about on average, like 1 hour daily atleast. Ofcourse it means that I might play a game for 6 hours straight but not play the game at all for the next 6 days using the controller.

But if you are saying that 3 hours a day every day is working out for you, then good enough... How much would be a legit PS3 wireless controller BTW?

Whats the price of Chillstream in Pakistan?

Hmm I am looking to buy a used one. But can't give more than 2K for that. Maybe I will indeed buy the Logitech Dual Action for 2.2K new. The software might be the same as Chillstream so it'll work with all the games no worries...

But still require more responses into which controller is in your opinion best for PC gaming.

Bro best and cheap solution. If u r ok with wired controller then buy a used orig ps2 controler for ~500 and its adapter for ~300. And use it via x360ce. I myself using it and its awesome. Ps2 controler is almost same as ps3. I just couldnt figure it out how to enable vibration thru x360ce on ps2 controler. I hav only used this contr for darksiders2 (gow type game) and to play such games via contr is very good expernce while i dont like to play fps via contr.
Grab a ps2 contr if want even cheaper alternative.
Mine ps2 contr is more than 5yrs old but stil pretty good.

Yea PS2 controllers that are original are very sturdy... My friend has one for 8 years and it still works fine ...

I will consider that. But where should I look for a New Original PS2 controller? And where to get the adapter?

Finding an original PS2 controller is next to impossible. Your only bet is buying from abroad from a reputable store.

Buying an original PS3 controller isn't that easy either but thanks to the sellers on PG, we can find original stuff easily.

Coming back to the dilemma, I've been using my PS3 controllers for almost 3 years (this is my second one, since this is my second PS3) and its still holding up very nicely. Just to be sure, I've put my controller to rigorous use in countless hours of Call of Duty and Street Fighter 4 and from the names of these games alone you should be able to understand the excruciating usage this controller has been through :p

My advice, go for the PS3 controller. It's definitely sturdy, at least an original one is.

Shary, my advice would be again to increase your budget by 1500rs or so and invest in a Logitech controller made for PC. Its money well spent. I've had mine for 3 years.....its been dropped countless times and still runs smoothly. And every game that has come out thus far has keys premapped. I love it.
Don't look for cheaper alternatives like ps2 or ps3 controllers.....it'll be a headache mapping every game....and just to save some $$

K. I've asked my friend to drop his controller for a day or two at my house so that I can use it with the games. If it works well, I will consider buying the PS3 one. I know the problems I've faced while mapping keys for games, but new softwares have made it very easy. But there is still no better option than native Logitech or Wired X360 ones... Because they autodetect keys properly on every game that supports it (latest one would be DMC in January). So lets see what happens.

Its good to see that original X360, original PS3 and Logitech ones are all very sturdy. Will make a decision in a day or two.

DS3 controllers are made to withstand a nuclear holocaust, yep they're that sturdy especially with me (the original ones)

If you have big hands, the controller will feel small, for that I would advise to get a 360 one, else DS3 works perfectly fine, I use it to game on my PC too.

Yes, they're extremely sturdy. Aside from all day long online gaming that I do everyday (atleast 5 hours), my original controller has fallen from over 5 feet lengths many times and gets thrown around all the time. Not only this, but often I allow my little cousins to play the PS3 and you know how kids are with controllers, wriggling and mashing it all the time. I bought my PS3 in late 2009 and both the console and the controller work flawlessly 3 years on. If you want to buy one I'd say go for it you have nothing to worry about!

Thanks for the great suggestions and testimonials guys. Very much appreciated! Looking forward to the PS3 controller at the time being because I want one that is sturdy as hell! :D But can still buy an X360 wired one if I can find it legit.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
