Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Nothing sentimental about Alyx being VR only. They invested in VR and made a product for it. Its VR only because it's not a half-baked implementation like RE7. I wouldn't mind seeing Alyx on PSVR2 🤷‍♂️

The money made from Alyx is peanuts compared to the money that could've been made from a non-VR version. Valve is well aware of this. They've invested in VR, but instead of getting a ROI they're more interested in advancing the VR medium.

Yes yes, multi-billion dollar companies are operating on sentiments. Maybe if PlayStation IPs were selling as much as Nintendo's, or more since their budgets are higher, they would develop good "sentiments" as well.

Is any one else facing wifi issues on the PS5 ? It seems very iffy at least for me. Tried both wired and wireless connections but they seem to work for a while and just give out the same error every now and then. My TV and Xbox seem to be just fine with the same connection, the issue only seems to be with the PS5.

How old is your modem/router? I had wifi issues with the PS5 when downloading games, but my modem was a decade old and only supported the 2.4GHz frequency band. Replaced it with a new wifi 6 modem and there are no issues now.

The PS5's December FW update created compatibility with older routers. Hopefully they fix this in the next update.

Yeah I am pretty sure mine is a pretty old model that only does 2.4GHz only. Which modem do you recommend ?

@CerebralTiger , getting this weird issue whenever i select the PS5 version of the TLOU remastered. The game gets locked out for some reason. Any idea how to fix this ? I just downloaded this today so its not an earlier version from my PS4.

Okay this is really weird, because there is no PS5 version of TLOU remastered haha. This is likely an OS error. It seems to flag the game as having a PS5 version for some reason. The first option in the 'Game Version' list i.e. PS4, should work. If I download the game on my PS5, it'll probably exhibit the same behavior.

I have been using mine with a 5 GHz router and I have never encountered a connection issue till now. As suggested, try with a 5 GHz router.

I'm using some Huawei router with only 2.4GHz support, I never encountered such issue.
I know someone who was having difficulties with disconnections on LAN cable.
Cable was quite long but it worked perfectly for other consoles.
Not sure if it's fixed for him or not.

I think it's just down to relatively newer network equipment. On my new modem, 2.4GHz works fine too. Though, the strange thing is that even the old modem worked fine prior to the December FW update.

You can copy over your PS5 games to external drive now but you can't update or download them to your external drive, it must be on to the internal storage (why make things complicated).

You can share play between PS4 and PS5.

And more features.

Yeah, some of these updates were sorely needed.

I think on SX you can still update games if they are in cold storage on the external drive, you just can't run them from there.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
