By Q4 2007 (Xmas) NVIDIA will be releasing their GeForce 9800 series GPUs. Unlike previously expected the codename for nVidia's next generation GPU will NOT be "G90" but instead be "G92".

G92 will be released in November 2007 time frame in the form of "GeForce 9800" series.

"G92" GeForce 9800 GTX specs.

- 65nm process technology at TSMC.
- Over one billion transistors.
- Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture.
- Double precsion support (FP64).
- GPGPU native.
- Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power.
- MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU)
- Fully Scalar design.
- 512-bit memory interface.
- 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory.

price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD.

If they are going to release a new series every six months I did rather stick with my 360 and rather get a PS3.

since 9800 is compatible with DX10.1 it will have to perform audio on Xaudio2 platform, current cards are not tested yet. so i think nvidia decided to make their own dedicated chip and not get in those worries... oh and it will give HDMI support too

This is the biggest reason for me for preferring a console, see I bought the damn E6600 for RS 20K now within 3-4 months the price drops to 12,800 <_< amd Quad core is now available for 20K!

Keeping your PC upto date is one expensive hobby :crying:

Uhh right okay :p..... One reason why Crysis didn't make it to consoles is BECAUSE THEY CANT HANDLE THE INTENCE GRAPHICS. :p

Anyways, this is great, I didn't get an 8 series yet and I'm happy I didn't. I'll be getting a 360 first and then a new PC by the time this comes out.

Nvidia made final preparations in order to send the first samples of Geforce 9800 or something that we know as G92 to its high end partners and developers.

Very few privileged people will get one that early and if all goes well there will be some G92 cards in some developers and customers PC already in September.
Nvidia is about to gather a lot of editors to tell them how good the new chips in October and the reviews and the retail launch is expected in November.

Of course this means that the G92 chip is taped out and that it works well.
