Ram and their brand.

As we have different types of gaming and non-gaming ram in the market, it would be nice to know which types can be inserted in branded pc. in the sff ( desktop ) and tower casing.

Q1. can we mix different brands of ram with each other with different or same mhz?

Q2. which brand is best to keep away from?

Q3. I have a Lenovo m92p desktop, with Kingston 4gb ddr3 1600mhz. and Samsung 2gb ddr3 1600mhz. As i want to upgrade the ram for this desktop, should I consist Samsung/ SK hynix 8GB ddr3 1600 mhz or go for Lexar or team group value select rams?
this PC is mainly for lite weight work and occasionally light gaming for a few hours.
what do u suggest?

Considering ur pc is taking its last breathes choosing cheapest one or if u like brands and if U can find one Kingston is holy grail u should be looking for Happy Gaming!

i hope not.
i did saw someone selling on olx but the issue is the matching and now i also found out it is a fake/ unknown brand but in cpuz u see it as Kingston. have to check through cmd command.

so should mix of differents rams give me the option of dual channel?
which brand not to touch for dual channel option with my existing ram

RAM Basics

Chip Density on same speed of RAM can cause 20% of Performance difference!

TLDR; Difference of performance between two RAMs of same Capacity / Speed / Timing & Latency but different Chip Density can be upto 20%, with Higher Density RAMs being the source of bottleneck. For details, read below. Saw LTT's latest video and was dumbfounded that these guys didn't know...

- Yes, it's down to motherboard compatibility first, then RAM. If it's compatible then the lowest MHz among the sticks will work.

Q2. which brand is best to keep away from?
- Each "Brand" has sub tiers, meaning each Brand has cheap as well as flagship models. It mostly comes down to the RAM Chips on the RAM. RAM sticks that contain Samsung's B-Die Memory Chips mostly perform well. All brands are equal, attention ahold be paid on the performance numbers, Channel, Rank, Frequency, CL, RAM Die etc.

- As stated above, brands are equal if the numbers are equal, I would trade-in old RAMs and get a matching pair (2 sticks) of 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL8.

i checked that both of my existing are CL11. the only reason I'm not going 16gb is thinking of buying another PC intel or ryzen. whichever my budget will suit. for that i will get 16gb.

ok i did tried this with another 4gb adata 1333mhz. I'm not sure its CL rating but it was lower than my kingston.
in cpuz it showed dual but when check separately, it shown Adata as dual band while Kingston as single band.
