MSI announced today the release of a new Nvidia centered graphics card that comes with a few novelties on the market. The high marks of this new MSI card are some fine-tuned vBIOS settings, ingenious cooling solution, high clock frequencies for GPU and memories alike, as well as a high potential for overclocking.
Designed and built specially for the hard core gamer, the MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo graphics card is based on the Nvidia 8600 chip and because it is factory equipped with two separate video BIOS chips it can carry two distinct GPU/Shader/Memory clock settings. When in 3D games or other graphics intensive applications, users need only to press a button found on the graphics card bracket in order to instantly apply higher clock frequencies to the card. The default video BIOS comes with a core clock of 540MHz, a shader processing unit clock of 1450MHz and a memory clock of 1400MHz, while the turbo video BIOS increases those values to 580, 1508 and1600MHz, respectively.

The MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo graphics card comes with 256MB of video memory that is compatible with the DDR3 standard that has a 128 bits wide interface that is being able to transfer 22.4GB/s. A number of specific Nvidia technologies were integrated into this graphics card like the CineFX 5.0 Shading Architecture that fully supports Microsoft's Windows Vista and is compliant with the DirectX 10.0 standard as well as with the Shader Model 4.0. As the Nvidia 8600GT graphics processing unit supports the multi video card setup known as SLI, this ability is found on the MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo graphics card too.

A number of MSI patented technologies like the StarOSD that is used to monitor system information, adjust monitor configuration, and overclock the computer system, are also included with the 8600GT centered graphics card, while technologies like UltraShadow II and Intellisample 4.0 offer real life feeling to all games thanks to their 16X anisotropic filtering, high level of antialiasing and transparent supersampling and transparent multisampling antialiasing modes. As multimedia is an integral part of the users' experience with computing systems nowadays, the MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo graphics card integrates the Nvidia PureViedo technology that allows MPEG-2 HD and WMV HD video playback up to 1920 X1080p resolution as well as H 264 hardware decode acceleration for a seamless playback.

MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo (Source: MSI)

MSI this week announced its new NX8600GT Twin Turbo with a slight twist. The new NX8600GT Twin Turbo features dual video BIOSes, each containing different core and memory clock settings. Users can switch between the two clock speed profiles with the press of a turbo button.

With the stock speed profile, the NX8600GT Twin Turbo operates at 540 MHz core and 1400 MHz memory. The shader clock also operates at 1450 MHz with the stock profile. MSI places the turbo button on the metal expansion bracket above the DVI ports.

A press of the turbo button raises the clock speeds up to 580 MHz core and 1600 MHz memory. The shader clock receives a boost to 1508 MHz as well. MSI claims a 20 percent performance boost in 3DMark06 with a press of the turbo button.

Other notable features of the NX8600GT Twin Turbo include dual dual-link DVI, HDCP compliance, HDMI output capable and component video output. The card also comes with 256MB of GDDR3 memory.
