    SO, today the PTCL person came and changed the wire from my home to the DB...it improved SNR from 15 to 20 but I am still getting disconnects whenever receiver is picked. abobobilly should I try putting the wires inverted in the splitter? or user outer pair in DSL settings?

    there may be another reason for my disconnects but not sure...when I moved to a new number, the login credentials on my modem are still based on my old number...could that be the reason for the disconnects?

    yep I tried new splitter today too. btw i dont know if its relevant or not, but when I type 192.168.1.1 sometimes I have to refresh the page multiple times before the modem page opens. its been happening for quite a while, it get this pink page which says host not reached or something like that...

    One thing I have noted is that when light goes and my DSL modem runs on UPS the downstream rate jumps from 400 to 1500. I dont understand everything was working fine like for 5 years and suddenly line has become too old?

    You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
