man when i reset the settings the output is default i.e. 576p. but the display show outta range at that output what can i do?

i got the hdmi-to-dvi cable which doesnt require hdmi cable. though i have that already. but im unable to connect with my LCD monitor, its 17 Inch Asus multimedia screen. it shows out of range when i connect it. i even rested my ps3 settings but still couldnt connect.
what should i do?
