In some instances, because there are higher graphics requirements to enable FPS Boost technology, we’ve had to reduce a game’s resolution to ensure it both runs smoothly and plays great. In those select cases, such as Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 in this latest title announcement, FPS Boost is not automatically enabled for Xbox Series X gamers

User mods do what MS/Bethesda can't. Run FO4 at 60 FPS without reducing resolution.

I remember maxing out FO4 on my PC when it came out even with all the eye candy didn't think it looked good lolzz xbx and ps5 are even struggling with such games is bit alarming..... These are 1080p 60 and 4k30 consoles in most cases not 4k60 and 8k30

The unofficial Fallout 4 mod makes it run at a pretty solid 4K/60 on the SX. I've tried it myself and can confirm.

We're not sure yet if the FO4 resolution drop is permanent or dynamic, gotta wait for DF or someone to calculate.

Holy crap I had no idea the last gen versions of Prey were that bad. Performance issues and long ass load times were documented but the latency issue sounds particularly awful.

A little off topic, but i would recommend peeps with Gamepass to give Surge 2 a try. Finished the game a few weeks ago and it just seems to be the most underated game of its release year. Its a massive step up in every way imaginable from the original, which was serviceable at best, and a must play for souls fan imo.

FO4 drops to 1080p on the Series X if you use the 'official' FPS toggle, but you can run the game at 4K/60 with minor drops using the unofficial mod.

Not sure why the official effort is so poor in comparison.

I have no idea why so many cross gen ports console are so half assed, its ironic because console fixed hardware optimization was a major plus point for consoles, but now we are seeing great pc ports and lazier and lazier console ports. This was opposite a decade ago

That's encouraging to hear. I thought the combat loop in the first game was very unique and engaging. What do you think about the level design, as this was a bit of a letdown for me in the original?

what ports are you specifically talking about ? if you're talking about that FO4/Prey video, those are not ports, they're running the game in BC environment, not using the full console specs, and simply toggling an .ini level config to change frame rate.

The games didn't even get any patches, this is all OS level toggles.

I played the first one for a couple of hours but thought the combat was very clunky and the level design as a whole was a let down. The second one however is a big improvement over the first one, especially in terms of level design with interconnected levels, rooms and lifts that really fuck with your mind.
