You know, i feel sorry for the developers, lol.

This is purely a publisher decision and it's fucking everyone over.
Mayeb if the game didn't perform poorly on the consoles, more people would be content with their initial purchase..

Maybe if the game sold well, 505 might've considered a different approach.

Somewhere in all of this debacle, Remedy fucked up too.

The cost of a next-gen upgrade is supposed to be primarily covered by new sales and new players on next-gen platforms, no? Why force the existing players to pay again when you are offering your game on new platforms where many gamers will buy and play it for the first time?
this make's more sense that what 505 just posted on twitter explaining their eff up :p

@Necrokiller CDPR is on another level as usual.
Yep. And this isn't even new for them. Back in 2008, when CDPR was pretty much an indie studio, Witcher 1 EE was made free for people who owned the game and the amount of content given for free was more than even companies today can put together in remasters. Witcher 2 EE was also free. Witcher 3 also had a loyalty discount at launch. Cyberpunk 2077 is getting free next-gen update too. No wonder even the biggest hater on PG ends up pre-ordering their games lol

Its good that the media are speaking up. The precedent set by some studios is making it that much harder for others to get away with these practices. Even Naughty Dog charged $4.99 for Grounded Mode in TLOU1. I'm sure, they can't afford the bad PR now by charging for a PS5 update for Part 2.

^what the fuck is this post? Lmao
Did you even read the post you so confidently agreed with? :ROFLMAO:

The tweet Goldenhawk shared claimed that owning TW3's base game + expansions gave you ownership of the GoTY edition (which has now been replaced by the Complete Edition). The screenshots I shared show that this is not true, at least for the PS4 version.

Did you even read my post beyond the point where you got butt hurt that CDPR is being praised?

I did not reply to that tweet. And it still doesn't change the facts I mentioned that you so confidently disagreed with.

So falsely being praised, then? TW3's complete edition isn't free for me, despite owning all of its contents. Moreover, only owners of the complete edition were entitled to a free copy of the season pass on GOG in a recent promotion.

Nope. The tweet is talking about being updated to GoTY edition, which is a separate SKU.

Which means the tweet was correct.
I dunno, I don't have a UK PSN account to be able to verify. Even if it is indeed correct for a subset of users, it's not correct for the vast majority; certainly not the biggest PSN market i.e. the US.

CDPR clearly sees the Complete Edition as one with higher privileges, and their GOG promotion proves it.

Yet you accused the tweet of being false and being falsely praised.
It's false for the vast majority of digital owners of TW3 + expansions on PS4, which means CDPR doesn't deserve credit for making future SKUs free for those who own the included content.

You claimed the tweet was false. And you have failed to prove that.
I proved with my screenshots that it isn't true for a majority of users. UK is just one region. Moreover, CDPR distinguishes between individual SKUs, as seen here:

It's also important to note that GOG Galaxy is able to distinguish between the standard and Game of the Year editions of the game. You'll get the equivalent one as a freebie. That means, if you've got the standard edition and have bought the expansion pass separately, you won't get the GOTY edition from this promo. You'll have to buy Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine again.

Hence, they don't deserve credit in this regard. Even if the UK store case is true, it's not applicable to regions where it's called the Complete edition.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
