Hey everyone, I recently started my A levels and I need some help. I'm pretty tired right now so instead of rewriting everything I'll just show copy paste the email I wrote to my career counselor, who as of yet hasnt replied :/
"I am a student enrolled in the As batch at The ********* School . I need guidance on a particular matter pertaining to my higher studies. Prior to starting school I had decided to take 4 subjects - Chem/Phy/Math/Computer Science. I plan to apply for an undergrad program in Computer Engineering/Computer Science at either FAST/NUST or GIKI. Due to personal reasons, I wish to drop Computer Science for A levels. Secondly, when we met in person during the career counselling session you told me that I'd have to prepare for ECAT instead of SAT. After looking at the eligibility criteria for FAST, NUST and GIKI, it seems that none of them accept ECAT. They have their own customized tests and they only accept SAT as an alternative to them.
My questions are as follows:
1. Will I still be able to enroll in a Computer Science/Computer Engineering undergrad program at the universities I mentioned, without studying Computer Science in A levels? I am compelled to keep the pre-engineering subjects only (Chem/Phy/Math)
2. Since the custom tests for the universities are primarily Fsc based, would it not be easier for me, as an A levels graduate, to give SATs instead to apply for entrance?
Some enlightenment on the matter would be a great help."
The real reason I'm dropping Computer Science in A levels is because I intend to go private, school is too much of a waste of time and money. And since I've heard you cant give CS as a private candidate, Im going to have to drop it if I go private.
If ANYONE could shed some light, thatd be a GREAT help.
