Haha, I thought I remembered you somehow! Well I guess you are right looking at the post count... But well anyways its of no worry to me as I have already sold my Desire but the new owner doesn't seem to have any problems either for now :p
And also using your device a bit carefully would extend its life much more. For e.g. People using games and wifi while charging. It overheats the device too much which it isn't able to withstand. Then theres always overclocking too which causes problems... The list is endless but its the same...
Oh.. my bad. Hadn't heard of such a problem with the Desire all my time I had with it and all the different ROMs etc I tried on it.
I think rooting + flashing custom ROMs is the key and installing Apps more selectively and troubleshoot which cause problems. A factory reset should fix it all up...
There is no such 'restart bug' in HTC Desire.

You guys might wanna call the Desire outdated, but its 1 year old and still performs like a beast compared to other phones.
Pair it up with the latest gingerbread roms (xda-developers) and your set for the next couple of years. And btw the screen (S-LCD) is almost as good as the SAMOLED phones...
Or maybe factory unlocked is not the only choice? Maybe, only maybe if you know how to use google to find specific search results you might be able to find a software unlock for your version.
