Enermax Technology was founded in 1990, and at time, it was well known for it’s high quality power supplies, manufactured by owned manufacturing units. With the passage of time, the market competition gradually lifted, especially in the OEM market, which affect the Enemrax’s market share. They were OEM designer, but not anymore, and at present, Enermax Power supplies are not being manufactured by Enermax rather external company has been preferred for impeccable units.
Revolution X’T ll series is a success of revolution XT and is being powered by Channel well Technology (CWT). There are many known brands used CWT manufactured Power supplies, such as Corsair, Thermaltake, Antec etc. Since this unit is manufactured by CWT, we can expect something powerful and efficient.
Today, I am taking a look at Power supply unit which is Enermax Revolution X’T ll 650W with Model ERX650AWT. Enermax Revolution X’T ll 650W is featured with 80 PLUS certification – GOLD rating, suggesting it will provide up to 87% efficiency as least consideration. Using 100% 105°C Japanese Electrolytic capacitor in the build to ensures longevity and maximum stability of this unit. On paper specs, this power supply is offering 650W with 53 Ampere on a +12V rail. Such specs are maxing out this unit to 636 wattage at an efficiency of 92% at full load. So, all these high numbers are impressive, however, we’ll have to check out the power draw in our tests.
Enermax Revolution X’T ll product line comes in various wattages ranges ERX450AWT, ERX550AWT, ERX650AWT and ERX750AWT. The Review sample we have here is priced at $108.49 on Amazon.
Features & Specification
It’s a 87 PLUS ready PSU under minimum Load I: e 20% load, while it carries up to 92% maximum under 50% load. When 100% load applied to supply, the power delivering efficiency would drop from 92%.
There are a couple of Protection features that the Enermax’s bundled in the unit.
The HeatGuard, Power use fan to keep running for about 20-30 seconds, even after you’ve shut down the PC, the fan would allow to dissipate the heat from inside. This feature will result in an improvement in the system’s lifetime.
The other one is CordGuard, Fix the AC Cord tightly to avoid any accidental PC shutdown.
Other features Enermax has offered to its customers through this PSU, is 13.9cm twister bearing fan, which carries low noise and long lifetime, I:e 160,000 hours MTBF. It’s a hybrid modular design with flat cables which accommodates in much better cable management; which also avoids mess in the case.
The Package & The Content
A Plain Black Box with colorful branding and product name in red & yellow color scheme. On top of the box, the product line is printed in yellow color at middle while the wattage is printed at bottom, and 80 PLUS GOLD right next to it. The other side of the box contains mostly the specifications and features in regards to power supply.
Around the sides, features are printed in a list format.
Inside the box, my first impression was the plastic wrapping coating which contains PSU and accessories. In addition, a manual resting on top of the PSU.
While I unleashed the PSU along with several accessories and cables. We have Power supply itself, Cord, Cables in plastic bag, cord cable, Enermax plastic film bag, CordGuard in small plastic bag.
I placed all the accessories a side and bring together Power supply and its cables. There are several cables includes

Enermax Revo XT II 650W – The Exerior
So finally, we are at core, Enermax has designed this Power supply, keeping in mind, the today’s trend. Since the revolution X’T is a successful series of Enermax, the design layout not different; some minor changes it looks more or less first generation. Enermax technology has used a matte black finishing which I usually prefers on my products, too. The scratchless material on the body is scratchless, while the top contains the specification sticker having in detail specs regarding the power, voltages, and amperes.
The Fan side, Enermax badge is placed at the middle of the Grill, presenting the company.
Meanwhile, the PSU’s both sides have a series description labelled in a light yellow color scheme. I feel it an exquisite work.
The front rear side contains cable connections demonstrating hybrid modular design. ATX 24pin and 8 pin is internally built, while the peripheral and 2x GPU slots are dedicated as modular. Moreover, some informative material related to pins are stacked next to them.

Enermax Revo XT II 650W – The Interior
The inside of PSU is unleashed, and looks pretty populated with many components.
Enermax using Nipplon Chemi-Con (400V, 560uF each, 2000h @ 105 °C). Nipplon brand is renown as one of the efficient capacitor manufacturer among many in the market. Both primary and secondary phases using 105C capacitors. However, it won’t be much of benefit, if we see from technical point of view, rather a good marketing strategy for a product.
At middle, we can see three transformers in yellow taping are referring to E216944 from Viking of B-2 Class.
The cooling fan carries Enermax’s logo and uses a twister bearing, which offers a long lifetime. Enermax cites a 160,000-hour MTBF for this fan.

Power Supply Testing is not any simple assignment as compare to any other PC component. Some high quality equipments are required to measured power consumption and voltages. However, they are highly expensive, not affordable even for small groups. In this regard, we, of course, not in the position to afford such luxurious items, so we went with a common tools but very effective, Kill-A-WATT, in order to measure the wattage. We are also using Decibel Sound Meter effective for measuring fan noise of PC component. In addition, for checking default rating of Power supply, if it is 100% or not, we will use Thermaltake Power Supply Tester.
To start with, we first checked the power voltages.
Then we head over to check the idle figures of this power supply, and we left PC as idles for about 30 minutes. The Whole system was hardly consuming 130W power when stays at idle. Then we head over to find out actual CPU productivity through various stress programs, such as Prime95, Intel Burn Test, and AIDA64. We ran each tests for half an hour and with 5% error of margin. The outcome is, the power draw of about 195W maximum, while 160W as the minimum power draw monitored. At this stage, the voltages are being tabled as above, and they are still good if not the best. For example, on +12v Rail we are getting 12.000v as minimum and 12.192v as maximum we collected. In order to perceive stability of power supply voltages, the official range set between 11.4 to 12.6v. Enermax 650W is pretty much stayed within the limits of being a quality power supply.
Later, we ready our system for whole system testing. For this, we took a couple of games, and a heavy GPU testing benchmark. Metro Last Light game is well-known for consuming power of graphics cards and whole system effectively. In Metro Last LIght game, our peak wattage was 346, while minimum watts monitored were 290W. For further testing, we also included Battlefield 4 game, just for additional throughput.
For extended Test, we went through Overclock system, in fact, we took the processor’s speed, i5 4670K from 3.4GHz to 4.4GHz, for effective power draw. When we measure the power draw it maxed out to 377W, on the other hand, the minimum power draw during the Metro Last Light gaming test, was 317W as suggesting the power draw from wall socket was being increased by 16%, and this is mainly due to the processor’s overclocking. Well, that 60W difference is a nothing minor, and definitely has a noticeable impact on units consumed. Under this Test, Power supply is 100% stressed, with the efficiency of 85%-90%, it has drawn 377W from wall socket.
We would wait to see the ripple testing from other platforms.
Final Words & Conclusion
As there are many power Supplies in the market, but Enermax’s Revo X’T II 650W is extremely well balanced and efficient. Especially when it comes to features and performance at high loads. The exterior build is absolutely top notch, they have used special design on each side which avoids the scratches, even if you try. As for connectors, This hybrid model PSU got 6 flat cables considering the trend, Enermax is well aware of them. The flat cables makes the life much easier as compared to traditional sleeved cables. SATA and molex are usually more than enough for any build. Other cables are 1x 24 pin ATX, 2x 6 + 2 PCIe and 1x 8 pin for CPU power. So it got more than enough cables.
Now the Performance. First this product has entitled with GOLD plus certification, which means you would expect something around 87% as least efficient, even under very high loads. In our testing methodology, Enermax 650W didn’t cross 377W power at 12.092v on +12V single rail, showing a good tolerance level. This power supply has the strength to deliver power up to 90% efficiency. Since we tested Power supply under cooler environment i.e. ambient 21C, the power supply would definitely perform much better under such operating temperature. A single high-end GPU, as in our scenario, GPU 980 Ti have kept the power draw to 377W at full load. Moreover, it could easily manage the GTX 1070 SLI base system. As for Fan noise, we hardly heard anything coming out from the power supply. Enermax fan has done well for making the operation very silent.
Let’s talk about the features, Enermax is offering along with this revolutionize unit. The Heat Guard is something, I am quite impressive since it enables a PSU fan to keep spinning even after you have shutdown your PC. I noted some 10-20 seconds delayed in fan stopped which surely be helpful, not special though. The Cord Guard is another add-on, Enermax has coupled with PSU as physical benefit. It helps in avoiding accidental shut down, however, it doesn’t seem special, as my other power supplies without cord guard has no such issue. But a plus point being there who are looking a product and pay for additional features. While we mention few features, this unit is no behind as operating at high temperatures. It is also entitled to perform well even under 40C.
Price and Value
Enermax Revo X’T II 65W Single Rail power supply is available at 108 US Dollar as a retail price. We have taken a price point from Amazon.com. I do not find flaw in Enermax’s price strategy, in fact, the offerings have made this a valuable end product. We have seen the competitive power supplies in the market currently are selling at a bit higher range which delivers, almost as good as Enermax. So, I found Revolution X’T II 650W a good value for money. Hence, I am approving this quality built on our methods.
