Team Evil Geniuses (EG) today won the International DOTA2 Tournament and took home $6.6 million by defeating CDEC Gaming 3-1.
CDEC had reached the grand finals by winning the upper-bracket by in fact defeating EG (Evil Geniuses) a day before causing EG to be demoted to the lower-bracket final where they faced LGD Gaming who were also demoted to the lower bracket by CDEC Gaming.
CDEC was a team who wasn’t even invited to The International, they came charging through the wildcard qualifiers and surprised everyone with their brilliant, ultra-aggressive game style and caused several upsets along the way.
CDEC had played brilliantly for the entire tournament and a lot of people predicted CDEC to win the tournament after they reached the grand finals as they had already defeated their potential opponents for the final i.e. EG and LGD Gaming in the upper-bracket but EG definitely learned from their mistakes from their loss to CDEC and in the end they came out on top to take home the Aegis.
Team EG is a US based team but their mid carry is Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan Syed, a 16 year old Pakistani wonder kid who can arguably be called their best player, their play-maker. Suma1L has taken the DOTA 2 world by storm since he and his family moved to the US where he was noticed and recruited by Charlie Yang, manager of Team EG and the rest is history.
