well that's a shame, I'm not a fan of putting consoles vertically, personally.

horizontally just fits better in places like under-tv cabinets.

Don't worry about it. The PS5 has been designed for both horizontal and vertical placement, according to the designer Yasuhiro Ootori.

"This is a frequently asked question. From the designer's point of view, there is no difference in cooling performance between vertical and horizontal installation," Ootori says. "I think some people think that the heat dissipation efficiency should be higher in the vertical installation due to the chimney effect. However, in a cooling system with an active fan (electric fan), the chimney effect is at the measurement error level. It works according to the specifications in both horizontal and vertical installation. Personally, I like the vertical placement where the top and bottom of the "PS logo" can be seen correctly."

Sony has its own customizations and in some cases alternatives to certain DX12 features, such as the Geometry Engine instead of Mesh shaders. The PS5 hardware may not support instructions of certain integer types, which would put it behind the Xbox w.r.t. Machine Learning. Remains to be seen until Sony provides more details.

XSX Doesn't have the most touted RDNA 2 feature which is Infinity Cache, still bold of them to claim "Full RDNA 2"
It's a chip that is going into azure servers along with the consoles.

Recent leaked patents suggest, Sony has their own VRS alternative.
RedGamingTech and Moore's Law is Dead on Youtube have been providing leaks for AMD, intel, Nvidia with on point accuracy. Both suggest PS5's Geometry Engine is designed in collaboration with Sony and will be used in RDNA3.

Both of them are heavily customized chips but given how fanboy wars were going on about, Aaron Greenberg from the marketing team saw an opportunity and took it and marketed it as "Full RDNA 2"

For anyone who isn't buying a Series S for extreme budgetary reasons, it just doesn't make sense ...

Series S + 1TB SSD card = same price as Series X. But then you have a much weaker console.

I assume series S comes with 500gb SSD since it's a budget device. 364 off 500 is 72% of free space which is available for games.
While ps5 has total 825gb storage of which 664gb is useable which makes around 80% of free space. 72% and 80%, frankly not too great on both and the ratio should've been higher

The Series S is in a weird situation. Being a digital-only console, it's a $100 cheaper than the PS5 digital edition, but with 40% as much gpu power, 60% as much memory (at lower bandwidth), and almost half as much storage space. The PS5 digital edition is great value for money in comparison.
