Reportedly, MS is ditching the idea of 2 consoles (Lockheart and Scarlet) and instead shifting focus to just Scarlet.

https://www.thurrott.com/xbox/208837/microsoft-shifts-xbox-focus-to-one-next-gen-console

Further, the evidence and insiders at the company acknowledged that there were two devices on the roadmap for Xbox; Lockhart and Anaconda. Even though the company has released one new console and has another planned, I firmly believe that at E3 2018, Phil was referring to two next-gen consoles on stage.

All this being said, Microsoft’s current plan for its next-generation Xbox is to focus on Scarlett and all mentions of Lockhart, which was previously documented in several places, has now been scrubbed clean. The big question is what prompted the change in the strategy?

Talking with various people inside and outside of Microsoft, here is my best conclusion as to why the device was removed from the roadmap.

First, developers were having a harder than expected time creating next-generation games that spanned across two systems with various specs. As you might expect, developers were putting a focus on making games that would run well on the lower-end device first and then scaling them up to the higher-speced, Anaconda.

Looks incredible. Can't go wrong with a minimalist design.

Looks like the Elite D-pad is the standard now?

So it's basically a PC, and an ugly looking one at that lol. Resembles those mini-itx tower PC cases sold by Corsair and Silverstone.

Won't look good on the living room shelf in either vertical or horizontal orientation.

I dont mind the shape too much as long as it can sit vertically and does the job well enough. What I am concerned is the name being too similar to Xbox One X... They certainly dont want another case of WII V/s Wii U, one of the major factors with the lackluster sales of the WII U was attributed to the name itself due to which alot of consumers couldnt differentiate between the 2 consoles.

I dont like the PC inspired design. A console should not confuse itself with a PC. It has never worked before and wont work now.

However I like that they kept the already awesome controller. Why fix something that's not broken

The PC-esque design is indeed a very interesting choice by MS. I certainly dont mind how the console looks especially after looking at the mock up compared to PS4 PRO and the current Xbox. Looks very clean and minimalist. I am now more exciting to see Sony's design language. Hope we see it before next year's E3.
