Yes, they had a good standing in a list with 7/20 exclusives, none of which are Xbox One 'exclusives'. Still see the trend being "quite similar" across PS4/Xbox One? :hah:

So now you're combining PS4 and Switch exclusives?. Truly running out of arguments. And 13 out of 20 is still a majority so nothing has changed. So now multiplats are doing better than exclusives on two platforms combined :hah:

lol on the contrary, why are you hesitant to compare the Switch with the Wii? And even in the Wii U's case, its software sales were dominated by exclusives.
For the millionth time, it has a pretty distinct feature that neither the PS4, Xbox One or the Wii U had.

But Wii U had plenty of highly rated exlcusives, more than Xbox One, and was a dedicated docked console. So now then, explain why the exclusives could'nt save it?

lol this is hardly a concern.
Might not be to you who doesn't even play those games to make a judgement lol

They are exclusives after all, just not to the same platform. There's no Xbox One 'exclusive' to combine with them, sadly. So the question remains, how is the trend "quite similar" across PS4/Xbox One? :hah:

For the millionth time, it has a pretty distinct feature that neither the PS4, Xbox One or the Wii U had.
But I'm asking about the Wii, not the Wii U lol. What did the Wii have that made it the 2nd most successful console of all time?

But Wii U had plenty of highly rated exlcusives, more than Xbox One, and was a dedicated docked console. So now then, explain why the exclusives could'nt save it?
A platform's sales are always dictated by its library. The Switch's success is also linked to its library, not to its portability. Tell me why the PS Vita failed, despite being a portable and also offering a lineup of exclusives. It's because none of its exclusives were good enough to be system sellers. It was a failure in that regard.

Might not be to you who doesn't even play those games to make a judgement lol
You called Destiny 2 a "different game" on PC at 60fps. It's more successful on PS4 at 30fps. There you have it lol.

Sigh. Because whether its PS4 or Xbox One, the Top 10 LTD are dominated by multiplats. Something you're having a hard time coming to terms with so keep spinning the argument as if PS4 was released in 2018 lol

A platform's sales are always dictated by its library.
Wii U would like to have a word with you

If exclusives were the all-important decisive factor as you say, why is Xbox One performing better than Wii U?

You called Destiny 2 a "different game" on PC at 60fps.
But what did your boy Richard's wisdom call it?

"And at even higher frequencies, mouse and keyboard is a game-changer."

:hah:

It's more successful on PS4 at 30fps. There you have it lol.
And NBA 2K is more successful than even your 30fps "heavy hitters" on platforms other than the Switch. There you have it lol

The PS4 gradually gained momentum since its launch, and in 2018 it hit its stride. LTD charts are therefore not a fixed quantity and, hence, useless until the end of a console generation. Annual sales charts offer more reliable stats.

Wii U would like to have a word with you
The Wii U only received 3 heavy hitter exclusives that clearly weren't enough to save it, namely Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros Wii U, and Super Mario 3D World. Its only Zelda game was released after the Switch's launch, with the game also being available on the latter. It never received a Metroid game.

Compare that to the Wii, which had 2 Zelda games, 2 mainline Mario games (Mario Galaxy series), and 2 Metroid games. Need I say more?

So, yes, I'd certainly like a word with the Wii U :hah:

And NBA 2K is more successful than even your 30fps "heavy hitters" on platforms other than the Switch. There you have it lol
Eh, NBA2K19 is below both Spiderman and GoW in the 2018 PS4 sales chart. We don't know where GoW and Spiderman are positioned in the LTD chart at this point, so it's pointless to speculate if they're above or below NBA2K18.

lol @ gradually. We're officially in the next-gen discussion thread.

Annual sales charts offer more reliable stats.
Reliable? lol Why are you afraid to discuss LTD performance but are fixated on 2018?

Annually, where do Uncharted 4, Horizon ZD, Bloodborne, Persona 5 rank in the lists? How come SpiderMan and God of War made it to the Top 10 overall list but not the games mentioned above? What's the excuse?

The Wii U only received 3 heavy hitter exclusives
You missed Super Mario Maker, Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2. But ofcourse, they probably don't fall into your subjective criteria of "heavy hitters" so you omitted them. All these exclusives counted are more than the Xbox One has. Why is Xbox One more successful than Wii U then?

There will be 2 more annual NPD charts where the PS4 will still be relevant. The PS5 doesn't launch before November 2020.

Because LTD charts aren't a set-in-the-stone statistic until the end of the generation, unlike annual charts. What if there are more than 2 exclusives in the PS4 LTD by the end of the generation. What would be your stance then?

Annually, where do Uncharted 4, Horizon ZD, Bloodborne, Persona 5 rank in the lists?
They very likely had a place in the PS4 annual lists for their respective year. Unfortunately, individual platform charts weren't disclosed by NPD prior to 2018.

All these exclusives counted are more than the Xbox One has. Why is Xbox One more successful than Wii U then?
Despite having a sales lead on hardware, Xbox One's biggest exclusive, Halo 5, sold the same amount of copies in the year of its release that the Wii U's biggest exclusive, Super Smash Bros Wii U, sold in the year of its release :hah:

The Wii U hardware was generally not successful due to consumers not being happy about its tablet controller. Its use was made mandatory by a lot of games. This was also my biggest annoyance with the console, since I vastly preferred playing with the pro controller (sold separately).

The Wii U's lackluster sales are partly a result of Nintendo's miscalculations regarding the console's tablet-like controller and launch timing, said legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto

Show me majority exclusives as their are currently majority multiplatforms in the LTD chart.

They very likely had a place in the PS4 annual lists for their respective year.
But someone said "the placement in the list matters" :hah:

GoW and SpiderMan had a place in the Top 10 overall list. Horizon ZD is not in the Top 10 and Uncharted 4 wasn't even in the Top 20. Heavy hitter? lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Wii U hardware was generally not successful due to consumers not being happy about its tablet controller. Its use was made mandatory by a lot of games. This was also my biggest annoyance with the console, since I vastly preferred playing with the pro controller (sold separately).
Confirming that there are other factors that can lead to poor console sales despite having highly rated exclusives. Xbox One is far, far more successful than Wii U despite not having exclusives and the hardware being underpowered and more expensive than the competition at launch.

Even if there are 4 out of 10 exclusives in the PS4 list by the end of its lifecycle, it'll refute your claim of "dominated by multiplats".

As I said before, there's no point in evaluating LTD charts at this point, because they can change a lot between now and the end of a console's lifecycle. It's the same for the Switch.

But someone said "the placement in the list matters" :hah:
It very much does. To clarify, when I said they're very likely to be in the annual PS4 chart, I meant in the top 10. However, unfortunately, NPD didn't release platform-specific annual charts prior to 2018.

Xbox One is far, far more successful than Wii U despite not having exclusives
Xbox 'exclusives' were real exclusives before the more recent Play Anywhere program, so the "despite not having exclusives" argument doesn't hold. It'll be interesting to see how their next console fares, with consumers knowing well in advance that everything available on the platform can be played elsewhere.

Despite the Wii U's weaker hardware sales, its exclusives still did equally as well or better than Xbox One's 'exclusives'.

Maybe by your definition but not mine. 4 out of 10 is still not a majority.

Oh right. Goal post shifting. Have Xbox One sales been declining since they announed Play anywhere program?

It bombed no matter how you try to spin it.

Majority =/= Domination

I didn't mean Xbox One exclusives were selling better when they were real exclusives. That was just in response to your "despite not having exclusives" remark, and to highlight that consumers are aware in advance that the next Xbox consoles won't have any exclusives. It'll be interesting to see how well they perform in sales, especially if the Anaconda spec doesn't have an equivalent noteworthy advantage in specs over the PS5 that the One X has over the Pro.

It bombed no matter how you try to spin it.
And given that, its even more impressive to see how well its exclusives sold, matching and/or even outselling Xbox One exclusives.

Definitely some announcement regarding Xbox's future plans today.

Although this certainly is going to leave a bad taste in Xbox X owner's mouths, who just bought a new console a year ago.

Call me crazy but I think Sony gonna win the console exclusive war next gen yet again. I know it's still too early to tell but Xbox just doesn't have the x factor anymore.

That would be a greater fail than this gen since they've bought a bunch of good studios. They just need to follow Sony's model when it comes to exclusives which I think they will. That combined with Game Pass could kill Sony tbh.

Well the 2020 release was expected though. But yes I bought the X around a year ago and with the next XBOX coming in next year i have mixed feelings atm. Still though, I dont think MS has shown anything as of yet in terms of exclusive content to compel me to get Scarlett anywhere close to launch. Halo itself would be cross gen so my money is still on PS for next generation.
