8-Minute Extended Gameplay Demo - IGN First - IGN Video

In Scalebound, the next great adventure from critically-acclaimed developer PlatinumGames and renowned Game Director Hideki Kamiya, you will experience the journey of a young loner, Drew, who is pulled into the strange, beautiful and dangerous world of Draconis. There Drew is bonded to a fearsome and noble dragon, Thuban, the last of his kind. These two, lone-wolf heroes thrown together by fate must learn to fight as one to defeat the powerful enemies that threaten Draconis, Earth and a vast universe of parallel worlds.Explore the beautiful and dangerous world of Draconis as you and your dragon companion work to defeat legions of enemy soldiers and epic scale beasts.
Master accessible but deep “stylish action” gameplay. Fluidly chain attacks with your dragon to create devastating combos to unleash upon your foes.
Adventure on your own or join forces with other players and their dragons to complete custom quests and battle massive creatures together…
Choose your favorite dragon shape (winged serpent, four legged tank – and more) and then evolve your companion’s unique abilities and attacks as well as its appearance.
The game will release in the Holiday Season 2016, and will cost $59.99, £49.99 or €69.99 depending on your country.
Hands down, this was the best reveal of the conference. Blows Horizon Zero Dawn out of water for me :D

Will buy an Xbox One for this one for sure.

Game looks really lush, gameplay looks fun and seems a lot like monster hunter especially that multiplayer component they showed at the end.

Was the game laggy for anyone else or was it just the player fucking with me?

Not a fan of the hack'n slash genre so I'll pass. But I must admit this looks gorgeous. Platinum Games' fans would love it I'm sure.

Horizon Zero Dawn looks a lot more intriguing to me though.

One is a proven dev with a history with action games and the director is literally a legend.

The other game (Horizon) is from a dev who just released a mediocre game and haven't really had much success.

I know which one I am betting on :p

This is an action RPG? With an awful main character like that, they have their work cut out for them to keep the story mildly interesting. And that music when the combat began was just terrible. Not a fan of the whole atmosphere they are going for. But that "Dante with dragons" theme is probably part of the appeal for some. The presence of the dragon was the only decent thing about the whole video.

Could be the stream itself, or just an early build of the game, but its like that for everybody.

I doubt the story will make much sense and be worthwhile, I haven't played any game from Platinum that has a good story. After a few more watches of the trailer, that gameplay does not look like what I'd expect from Platinum or Kamiya. Looks too jank and slow, but hopefully that's just the early builds fault and not the game itself.

Huh, so it wasn't just me. Hopefully it'll all be ironed out by the next demo.

It looks like an Xbox version of Xenoblade. However the combat didn't impress me. Also the game definitely ran poorly, maybe the framerate hovered around the 20-25 fps range because it looked sluggish. The frame rate improved in areas where there wasn't much grass. The graphics look great but I can definitely say that they will be scaled down to improve the frame rate.

Optimization is usually the last step for any game, so don't be so sure. I mean I don't think the Xbox One is not capable of these graphics, as Scablebound is certainly not a full open world game, rather looked like a semi-open one.

As for most complaining about graphics and sluggish gameplay, did you guys miss the big ass "Pre-Alpha" written on the video. The developers put it there for a reason. Just like Crackdown 3 gameplay looked unfinished, Scalebound is nowhere near finished. They are targeting a Holiday 2016 release so until we see it again next year, it is too early to complain about this all.

Unless you guys love to see stuff like "in-engine" bullshit that previous games like Witcher, Assassins' Creed, Star Wars: Battlefront have pulled in the past. Even Horizon Zero Dawn had no "Pre-Alpha" footage written on it. I think Horizon was far along than Scablebound. Don't forget it was in development since after Killzone 2 where as Scalebound started its development in 2013 AFAIK.

This is not a hack 'n' slash. This looks more along the lines of a Final Fantasy action adventure RPG. Are we sure Platinum is working on this game?

The protag sounds like such an annoying shit. I'm pretty sure I heard his voice break a few times when he yelled "Wreck It!" and "Nicely Done!". Did they get a 12 year old to voice him?

And are they doing the Dark Souls thing at the end there? i.e. summoned players.

You get to see more of the game world. I'm not sure where the RPG elements come in because Scalebound looks pure hack 'n' slash, through and through.

The co-op feature looks fun.

Kamiya does over-the-top, fast paced action games! This is extremely different. This doesn't impress me, so far.
