better if you have mentioned other PC parts & purpose of the PC & your budget

both i5 8400~8600k are similar except overclocking & higher clocks go in favor of 8600k

overall i5 8400 is enough for gaming and multitask, its turbo boost around 3.8 GHz ...

for a budget setup get i5 8400 with Gigabyte B360M HD3 or a similar mb which you can search here MotherBoard Price In Pakistan - Computer Zone

 • i5 8400
 • Gigabyte H370 HD3 or similar
 • 16 GB DDR4 RAM
 • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070Ti Gaming 8GB
 • Thermaltake Smart SE 730Watts or similar, no need for ultra expensive PSUs
 • Corsair Carbide Series 275R Tempered Glass casing or similar, you have many choices

i don't know you need a monitor or already have it, similarly Hard Drives & SSD ...... if these items are required then you can adjust a few components but i would suggest not to compromise on GPU if you want serious gaming, for casual gaming save your money and you may go for 1060 6GB with i3 8100 as this CPU is 4/4 and enough for most of the games

What about EVGA GPUs ?
Are they good ?
And yes storage will also be required, thinking of 250GB ssd n 1TB WD black caviar ....
Also i would like to have this PC for the next 7-8 years, so keep that in mind also ....

yes EVGA is a good brand especially their SSC & FTW series

i5 8400/8600k might be enough for 7~8 year but GPU not, also it depends on your monitor, for 1080p 1070Ti will last long, for 4k stuff you may need to change the GPU every 1~2 year, you can compromise on some graphics settings like AA/post processing/etc,... and increase your GPU life ...

for 1080p , 1070Ti will serve for several years IA

if you buy 8600k, then you have to buy an aftermark cooler b/c no fan comes with 8600k , however, personally i would recommend an aftermark cooler either you buy 8400 or 8600k

if you won't overclock then you can get a budget cooler like Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO and if OC then get the best cooler you afford

Don't overclock, no need to for gaming. I am running games on Xeon 3680 which is 8 years old cpu with 1050ti and I can max out mosty games at 1080p.

Just get i5 8400 with B360 mobo which is around 12k and you will be set for some time.

Also if you wanna game at 1080p at 60Hz then go for 1060 6GB. It will be enough for your needs for atleast a couple of years. No need to go above that and you will save a lot of money that way. Think smart and save money instead of going for things you wont need.

So i decided to go for i5-8400 ...
Now please suggest the mobo, what is the difference between H370 & B360, as there is no point of going for Z series as those are suitable and mostly used for overclocking ....

read this article
Intel B360 vs. Z370 Benchmarks & 2666MHz vs. 3200MHz on i5-8400 | GamersNexus - Gaming PC Builds & Hardware Benchmarks

you said you won't oc, wesy bhi i5 8400 doesn't support ocing ... so focus on following points while choosing a mb.

 • No. of USB ports, how much USB 3 & 2 you require
 • RAM clock Support, i.e. 2400 mhz or 3000 or 4000 and so
 • No. of of SATA ports you require , depends on HDD/SSD you have or will get in future
 • MUST see if there is a conflict between SATA Port(s) and GPU , many times 1~2 SATA slots become unusable b/c GPU blocks them, poor mb. design
 • PCI/PCIE Slots you need

Compareable AMD processor is 2600X which isn't available in Pakistan yet. Also they don't come with warranty here in Pakistan. Techspot did a benchmark suite that contained 26 games and concluded that i7 8700K is 3% faster in total than a ryzen 2700X. But ryzen are miles ahead in productivity apps which you aren't gonna use. There is no point buying AMD because they wont come with warranties and i5 8400 is compareable to ryuzen 2600X anyways. Get the i5 and peace of mind.

If we wanna use NVME based ssd then check your motherboard if it has slot it it. You will be fine with any of the mobos if all you gonna do is insert a card in it and game.

Alright, i will choose i5-8400 then ...

I searched the internet, there some reviewers say that B360 is best because of the price but it has some cut in features, and some says choose Z370 instead of H370 because of not much difference in price point and have full features of mobo ...

Now selecting a board is bit confusing ...
Voodoo please suggest you too ...

ammad368 , no doubt AMD has much better price/performance than Intel but it is not recommended locally, 1st thing it doesn't have good resale, since you will keep it for 7~8 years so no question of resale here, the main thing is that motherboard is a risky item and might become faulty in 7~8 years, in such case you surely will not find a compatible AMB mb. here and if you import it will cost a lot, while Intel mb. can be found easily.

you can go with B360 keeping in view the following
 • No Overclocking
 • No SLI support
 • Ram speed is limited to 2666 MHz
 • Lesser USB ports than H370/Z370
 • No raid support

and yes it is true that you should get z370 is price difference is minor

AMD has a lot of potential but can't be recommended locally due to unavailability of its motherboard if it gets faulty as you will keep the PC for 7~8 years

B360 is okay keeping in view the below
 • no overclocking
 • no RAID
 • RAM Speed is limited to 2666
 • lesser USB port
 • no SLI

However if price difference is minor then you should go for H370/Z370
