At Nvidia’s event, the company is unveiling the RTX 2070, RTX 2080, and RTX 2080 Ti. Nvidia is promising “up to 6X the performance of previous-generation graphics cards,” and real-time ray tracing for these cards. Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, and Zotac will all have RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti cards available for preorder today, with cards available on September 20th. RTX 2070 cards will start at $499, with RTX 2080 at $699, and the RTX 2080 Ti starting at $999. Nvidia is also offering Founders Editions for all three graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition will be priced at $599, with the RTX 2080 Founders Edition at $799, and the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition at $1,199. The Founders Edition cards will ship on September 20th.

Nvidia says the RTX 2080 is designed for overclocking, and the RTX 2070 will offer more performance (for ray-tracing) than Nvidia’s Titan XP card. The RTX 2080 Ti is the flagship, clocked at 1350MHz with 4352 CUDA cores and 11GB of GDDR6 RAM (full specs here), while the regular RTX 2080 will be clocked at 1515MHz with 2944 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 RAM (full specs here). The RTX 2070, meanwhile, is clocked at 1410MHz, with 2304 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 RAM. Nvidia is recommending PC gamers have a 650W power supply, as the base RTX 2080 draws up to 215 watts of power.

If it isn't apparent already, do not whip out your dough and be ready to buy these as soon as you see them. The promised performance increase is only concerned to ray-tracing. The real world performance has not been benchmarked yet. But from what we have seen so far (plus the little clue we got from the event: 2080 ti at double the framerate than 1080 ti on the UE4 benchmark), 2080 ti offers roughly double the performance of a 1080 ti (at least when concerned to 4k).
So, in short, 2080 ti performs 2x better with 2x price increase. To me, the whole deal seems shady since event was carefully orchestrated to develop hype (they spent what, 45 minutes explaining ray-tracing to hype it up?) and it smells downright shady. Jensen's words were selected so that they could tease us perfectly without giving any real clues as to what the standard performance increase would look like. And so far, it just looks like a normal generational leap, nothing special. nVidia knows they have no real competition right now, so they can amp up the price with a pathetic hardware improvement (kind of similar to what Intel did with their 14nm processors). Good business, but bad for the consumer.
Ray-tracing is a gimmick, that only concerns people in the field of graphics that want photo-realism (as Jensen put it). Gamers aren't using RTX-mode in games, for the sake of higher frame-rate. Keep an eye out for when benchmarks come out, and then make your decision. Don't bandwagon on the hype train.

TL;DR "It just works!" - Jensen Huang

The general consensus seems to be that raytracing is not ready to be adopted by the average consumer. The cards have a standard generational leap in performance but a non-standard leap in pricing. Hopefully team red brings out some competition in the form of Navi in 2019 (unlikely) else I'll wait for what team blue brings us in 2020.

Hit me up when you find an RTX 2080 here for less than 1 lakh 15k lmao.

I guess Ray-tracing would drastically bring down the average fps you get in games, especially on 4K. The ray-tracing would not be optimized for GPUs at launch, like in BF5 and a few other games. The matter of fact, the reviews are already out on every major hardware website, but in-game Ray-tracing performance benchmarks are missing. So we still unsure how these cards would actually perform in next gen Ray-tracing enabled environmental games. I do like the lead of 2080Ti over 1080Ti (around 35% difference) but it lacks the claim of NVIDIA of being 50% improvement over Pascal. Price justification is still a question!

At this time of writing I think the upgrade is not worth it I might still fall for it though but then again my 1080Ti is sufficient for Ultrawide gaming and it will still be relavant for at least another year to come....I am 20-30% up for upgrading and DLSS might just push it enough for me to upgrade but I am willing to see the results first

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

So while Playing Control, I found a journal which said that a bathroom is missing in Islamabad Beurue of Control. With Alan Wake and Control seems to be connected worlds. Even our city is in the universe as well. No wonder those Trail 5 and Trail 6 are haunted.
did you know you can see @NaNoW credited in the game too ? :p

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
