i haven't seen anything like that on TV. Long takes are movie territory. And for a TV show to do it, and do it so brilliantly. Wow.

Obv those last 6-8 mins in latest episode were same par as a big Hollywood movie or a survival video game .

apart from that the acting level hasn't dropped a bit .

lets hope the upcoming seasons(if there will be any) are as superb as this one! although i doubt the new cast would be able to surpass the level of the current one

These guys, McConaughey and Harrelson, they have hit the gold mine. Their chemistry, their confidence (which comes from experience on the big screen), has translated so well to the small screen. It doesn't hurt that the writing is some of the best in TV on recent years. This has the potential for greatness.

McConaughey has been on a roll since The Lincoln Lawyer. Embracing method acting has served him well and it's no wonder he's getting so much praise recently.

Anyway, what do you all think about the surprise of Carcosa being a location? I think all those preachers and corrupt fundamentalists might be having their 'fun' there.

I'm truly interested by this TV show. I mean the cast is amazing, but I'm holding on to watch all the episodes in one go. On another note, how many episodes will season 1 contain?

Yeah, McConaughey has been awesome since The Lincoln Lawyer.

Carcosa reveal was good. Now I am positively looking forward to that place.

Now I am waiting for the shootout in the woods that has been talked about. And this is one of those shows where the mood just gets to you.

damn your spoiler free thread:mad:

The show is more about characters which are very solid but the story is non existent and is more in the back ground than in the forefront. I like that bit about this show and alexandra deddario might be the most beautiful thing in the whole wise world. This show also goes to prove that people are putting more importance in to tv shows rather than films as film business has been overtaken by the comic book stuff and big effects. I wasn't convinced by this show before but this episode really stepped it up. It looked a little pretentious before but now i think they are putting their money where the mouth is.

About bloody time someone made this thread.

Admittedly, I don't watch many TV shows because most of them are sub-par for me. So I haven't seen a show with this kind of writing, script, cinematography, and above all - acting. It ticks all the right nodes in my mind.

And a special mention to the last 5 minutes of episode 3. Haven't seen that powerful a thing in TV for a while. [Littlefinger's choas speech comes close].

Not really the best place to post this, but whatever. Sue me.

I have not started this show yet, but I am a bit skeptical about it due to my past endeavors. The cast really looks amazing.

I started The Borgias, The Blacklist, Mad Men and a few other shows recently that just failed to capture my interest despite their apparent 'greatness' (Perhaps Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad have spoiled me?)

But then again, perhaps my doubt is unfounded? Since only truly worthy shows get their own OT on PG. What the hell, I'll watch 2 episode and come back with an opinion (or does anyone suggest more episodes to do it justice?)

who told you borgias and the blacklist are great? they are slightly above avg. shows but nothing great... house of cards is much better than both of them. Borgias is nothing incredible but not bad although the blacklist is a very ordinary show... don't know what people see in it. Well i don't really like game of thrones too as it is all flash and no substance. Shows like dexter also get much praise but are very poor(only 2-3 good seasons total). why don't you watch the older hbo shows? the wire, oz, sopranos, deadwood, band of brothers and the likes...
