Well from experience, i can say that getting HD channels is pain in the a$$. Reciever needs updation every now and then and still they gets turned Off. Maybe buy some expensive reciever with company line for HD channels like tiger t8 or something, other wise dont bother with HD.

Regarding cline, I get dish tv sd line for 150 -200 rs per 3 months, 200 rs line is very very good on zong 4g. for HD channels, i am getting like 80 HD channels but most of them are Off and dont work onthis line, the only HD channels that are FTA are currently working
Is the SD quality better than local cable? Cable is shitty. They even have a The Wah logo on cartoon network lol.

Yes, SD quality is better the Wah cable, more resolution, more channels. The only downside is the internet connection is must for a lot of channels. I have some full 1080 channels coming as well, and their quality is amazing.
If you want a lot of Full HD channels then Dish TV box might be better but they are costly to recharge or maybe cheaper if you can recharge from india or something.

Did'nt really get you.

You've been buying from the wrong people then. Nowadays even Rs.100 line for 3 months works flawless for SD channels.

For HD channels you need to get the line from a reputable guy... There are no issues at all. Almost all receivers come with a 1 year service. After the first year you'll either have to get a cline or get another receiver.

It however is risky as you can do nothing if channels get off from sharing.

For that you can get Airtel, Tatasky, VideoCon, DishTV, ETC. They cost Rs.1200-1500 per month and you'll never have to worry about getting disconnect or anything.

Since, Pakistan's own DTH service will start in a year or so... One can get the Digital Boxes being provided by all Local Cable operators nowadays.

PIB, Nazimabad, Gulshan, Johar, Tariq road, ETC.

One time cost is Rs.3500-5000 and monthly charges ranges from Rs.350-600.

You get alot of HD channels including HUM TV HD (Bad Example)

Few HD channels are,

Star Movies, OSN Movies, Fox Movies, HBO 2, HBO 3, Movies now, Cinemachi, Baby tv HD, ETC.

Best thing about the local digital box is that THEY ARE UNCENSORED. No Indian adds, No katamkaati while watching SAW 2-3-4-5-6.

We've came along way in tv entertainment. Dish's nowadays are for those who actually want to control what they watch.

Hope that helps.

I dunno what my local cable wala does but they have a super-imposed a logo (TheWah) on several channels. And HumTV says HD in the corner but the quality is shit.

I'm looking into DishTV but its kinda expensive tbh. We don't watch TV often enough to justify the cost.

i have used couple of lines for the dish tv SD and 200/ 3 months is very good one.

There are cheaper options available but i think paying 60-70 rs per month is already very cheap.

I was interested to get HD channels as well but from my own experience, it is not permanent, i was getting a lot of good HD channels on Asiasat on reciever company line, suddenly line was off, month later i updated the reciver and line was On for only couple weeks, its off now.

i have heard that expensive recievers like t8 has good company line that cac work with HD but still the line gets down a lot(I think it is currenlty off as well)

1 of the reciever i bought has 18 months dishtv SD line and it is working perfectly as well.

BTW , I currently have both Dish and cable setup on same TV and quality and resolution Dish is better than local cable,

Dish is better than cable for sure but wah cable is also offering reciever system on their own line, do inquire about the price from them, i asked them in the past and they were giving me figures like 3000-4000for reciever and they were not even telling me proper cost per month for that line cost as well, (saying that we will decide cost later etc) but its sure to be more that 300 rs per month they are chargning now.

anyways total setup cost of dish and receiver and all things were like 4500 rs, so i opted for that. If you want, you can check the quality at my place,

I am not sure about the faran cable, i think basti and officer colony have same provider, ,maybe go to POF hotel office to inquire and even check their quality otherwise call the phone number on their monthly receipt,

if you want to research on dish then i would suggest a shop in Model town(Though i havent bought my setup from their), he can even show you quality on his own setup in the shop but his TV is not very good to check quality properly.

Also there is IPTV option to watch TV channels with internet from reciever, havent tested myself but i have seen people using it, it offers a lot of channels like 3000+ but it will drain a lot of internet(I think it streams) so unlimited internet is must, internet quota will be like 250+GB per month

Sorry guys, not been following this thread lately.. So I thought to jump in hekp you guys as I have done quite a bit of reaserch on Cable and CLINE..

I have used Cline for about 6 months, for that you require internet (doesnt stream, only pings) to be connected to the receiever all day otherwise channel wont come.. Secondly, your signals should be really good (dish positioning).. I went through a hard time with CLINE on Starsat Hyper 2000HD. Sometimes it just doesnt work for no reason... So I decided to switch to Dish TV HD.. I used VideoconHD as well but Dish TV HD is very good compared to others but it is really costly.. I pay around 1700 per month for HD package with Pakistani channels with HD quality... If you want hassle free setup then just go for Dish TV HD.. You will never regret it..

If you want to get the setup, inbox me and i will provide you with the contact details of the person. He is a very good guy. Getting my Dish TV HD recharged from him for a very long time..
