What I really don't understanda about Zong is that despite China Mobile having a rock solid network in China (technically speaking - based off YouTubers lol), they can't seem to get their testing completed in Pakistan.

Reminds me of this sentence a network engineer in Ericsson Pakistan said to me: the Chinese launch, then they squeeze the hell out of its potential until it's run to the ground, then they'll throw a massive amount of mnoey to boost the performance, and then wring it dry.

In hindsight, that seems true. They took their own time to launch CA, but when they did, there were speed boosts. And then, people began complaining again lol. They don't believe in growing slowly and steadily - seems like they prefer binary modes.

Jazz... well... I know they're very money-centric. But I also know that sometimes, their antennas are choked and need a simple reboot at their end (I once managed to have them fix an antenna in Nathia Gali within 24 hours lol). But I know they focus on sites that generate the most revenues; forget the residential areas of Bahria.

Zong's so-called VoLTE has become a case study at this point. Even after so much marketing, they haven't been able to even complete its testing until now. They should be launching VoWiFi along with VoLTE now to compensate for such a delay.

In my opinion, the biggest culprit in this case is the PTA. It is the PTA's duty to push mobile network operators to roll out these latest services. VoLTE should have been a primary obligation attached to the 4G license. For any upcoming technological services like VoWiFi, the PTA should establish a timeline for MNOs to roll out such services. Currently, the PTA has no regulations over MNOs regarding services like VoLTE or VoWiFi. It is entirely up to the network whether it wants to launch such services or not.

Yes PTA totally failed to maintain QOS BZ FA pass and Duffer general is PTA chairman so MNOs not updated services

I remember long ago when VoLTE was in "testing" at Jazz, they (the COO?) said that they're waiting for the necessary PTA approvals. Not sure what approvals they needed since you're not introducing a new license - it's a technological enhancement, and IMS is a part of 4G. I think it was just a way of saying "buzz off, don't bug us, we want to make more cha-ching right now!"

And lo and behold, when Jazz eventually launched it years after Telenor, Ufone and Zong "soon" followed.

Oh well. Can't expect much when the minimum benchmark for 4G bandwidth is 4 Mbps. Even DSL gets higher speeds now.

Huh. Interesting. I wonder if they're actually phasing it out BEFORE Zong, or whether it's a glitch.

Zong should have been the first one to phase out 3G, but here we are.
Definitely not a glitch. Aamir Ibrahim talked about shutting off 3G on Twitter a few months ago and 3G is gone in many parts of the twin cities already.

Zong can't phase out 3G until they properly roll out VoLTE which they're refusing to do for some reason and nowadays call quality on Zong 2G/3G is horrible even if you have full bars.

Either they are facing some major technical difficulties in deploying VoLTE or they are just being lazy, idk but Zong has become a meme in this regard as they have fallen well behind Jazz at this point, even Ufone in this aspect I would say.

this is govt's and not Microsoft's problem, of course. but it does make our market unfriendly for global digital businesses and consumers, which partly explains why Sony and Ninty stay away. a full-priced game would be significantly more expensive here digitally than its physical counterpart that comes to us from more cost-effective markets and channels (such as imports from UAE).

now that I think about it, maybe I should get a USD Payooner card for that purpose. but then, I don't buy or play much and the card has a fee. And you'd have to have USD balance in Payoneer of course, which prolly wouldn't be feasible if u somehow transfer PKR to it. It's an option for me cuz I get paid in USD there.

Finally saw Deadpool & Wolverine. Very overrated movie. I don't get what the commotion is all about. It was full of cringe humor & gay jokes. Also the whole multiverse thing is getting really lame now. It was fine the first time. Ok the second time. But now they've milked the jugs out of this concept. I know Marvel is desperate, but they need to come up with some original ideas if they want to stay in business. It's been a while since we've had a good superhero movie...
lol from all the clips I saw of deadpool on youtube shorts, I got the same idea about deadpool. Overacting and cringe.
