The build I played on PC suffered a ton of micro-stuttering, particularly when bodies or barrels would explode.

I ran into a surprising amount of quest-breaking bugs, ranging from major bosses refusing to spawn, doors not opening or not being hackable despite quest markers demanding I run through them, and AI enemies freezing in place after a cutscene.

The map is frustratingly unhelpful. The game’s variety of loot is nothing spectacular, and you’ll frequently find yourself reselling duplicate bits of armour, weapons and augments — but the excess credits generated can’t really be put towards anything meaningful because of how The Ascent‘s items work.


Perhaps the most egregious flaw lies in The Ascent‘s inventory menus, which obfuscates useful information so frequently that it almost feels deliberate. And while The Ascent is a honest-to-God cyberpunk game, and players will inevitably draw some comparisons with Cyberpunk 2077, I’m not sure Neon Giant needed to borrow some of Cyberpunk 2077‘s fonts.

Seems like hyping on anything with anything to do with the genre or word ‘cyberpunk’ just yields “jaidad se aakh walay” results for some.

Can’t seem to catch a break and quench the thirst of cyberpunk genre 🤣

I remember the doors not opening was becoming a focus point in the Returnal thread, and now…

The game desperately needs a sprint button or an ability that lets you do quick lunges, the default dodge animation is too slow and the running speed is also kinda slow.

Try spending skill points in the menu it helps a bit I don't like the way map works you can't place waypoints and all....

I'm a few hours into the game and unlocked a module called Javeline Dash. This has made traversal faster. It's like a 'skip dodge' instead of the normal roll which makes you start and stop at the end of the roll.

Cool I haven't unlocked it yet as I am still early in the game.....which guns are you using? My go to is dreader and overwhelmer(the best IMO)

I used the first sub machine gun, but you can unlock a straight up Minigun later. That's been working wonders.

That becomes a bigger problem in the late game, where it resorts to the cheapest method of raising the difficulty by simply throwing high-level enemies at you in increasing numbers. In one battle, you're tasked with holding a position for a given amount of time, before being told that isn't enough; you must now finish all of the remaining enemies. At which point it has become clear that no matter how effective the synergy of our augs, mods and weapons may be, our survival hinges upon us grinding side-quests to raise our level. What a shame The Ascent should make the final steps of its climb so arduous - even if there is evidence here that its maker could yet go all the way to the top.
Looks like it might settle at 72 :LOL:
