yea so like the name implies.. :p
sometimes when im playing games ( which i mostly do ) my system would jerk for a moment and then lose visual... the screen will simply say no cable connected...but i can still hear shit going on in the background which implies that the pc is still working so i turn it off my pressing the power button on my pc....it started happening like 2 weeks ago or something it wouldn't necessarily always happen but sometimes it does usually when the computer is running for like 7 8 hours straight...its not a problem with card heating up i checked the temp while playing it wast even anywhere near critical..
this problem started occurring when i was playing The Witcher 1 which had the GPU on somewhere between 50 till 60 degrees the same for The Witcher 2 only The Witcher 3 on Low caused the card to go up till 80 degrees but the problem had occurred before i even started playing The Witcher 3 so we can rule out the possibility that its because of the card heating up...

The 2nd thing which got me really worried was that when i started the PC today after turning it off briefly it didnt start.. by looking at it i believe the only best way i can explain what happened is that it looked as if it was trying to turn on but kept turning off...like the power came on and then went away.. this happened in 5 successions before i turned the switch off.. then when i started it again after 10 seconds it started but not quit it got stuck on the BIOS screen and the Screen it self was torn up..

and then after restarting it one more time... it worked... i dont know what the fuck happened.. and while this happened the HDD light on the PC was not flashing...

if you were wondering what my specs are:

i3 2nd gen
Nvidia GTX 580
6 Gb Ram
Coonix 600W Power Supply

Bro GTX 580 is a very power hungry card and that COONIX PSU is very very un-efficient. Now u might say it was working fine before. But when poor psu are kept under load for hours they die really very soon.
So now if ur system has builtin card try stability on that. Poor PSU put whole system at risk especially where electricity is this uncertain

but if its a PSU related issue why is the rest of the system unaffected and i lose only the visual?

But the second instance seems to affect the whole system. Just try taking out your GPU and using onboard graphics. Also, swap out your PSU and try again.

True.. is there a way to test a PSU.?
I can do what you suggested but the issue appears only when i play for like 3 4 hours and sometimes it doesnt appear at all...so it maybe a bit tedious..
like now i restarted the pc again and its working fine.. I played League of Legends for like 4 hours or so and its working fine.. no issues...

Probably some professional tools are required.

Get a new PSU, or don't, and potentially damage your components. I had a shitty PSU once...steadily, all components on my mobo went bad - even the CPU.

It's probably your PSU, the culprit, in the sense, it can't afford to handle the load for longer period of time as you've mentioned 4 hours. Also, Games like LOL, COD4, Dota, doesn't required any powerful GPU which is why you can game for longer sessions in that particulars.

On the other hand, Witcher 3 is a heavy graphics game, which can put any GPU to a serious test. Your card, GTX 580, is a complete package; Performance, high temperatures, and Power hungry product. So, the first thing you need to look for, is the PSU functionality. Just borrow a better PSU from a friend and run the system for a day or two, you'll see the results soon. It could be your GPU having problem cuz it's too old and would be dead anytime, but I hope it won't until you have it :)

I'd recommend to start off identifying the issue with PSU.;)

If you live in Lahore and can test with a 550w Power supply then i can give you my Corsair power supply for a day or two since my pc is not complete (BTW send good cpu+mobo offers people!!!)

I'd rather suggest you to replace your graphics card with more power efficient one. Some Side Grades and upgrades such as 750Ti, 1050(Ti), 270x and similar ones. NVIDIA GTX 580 is being competing with Rx460/GTX 1050 and many other equivalents. The thing is, We don't have many quality yet budgeted PSU options in Pakistan, all you see in markets are Corsair crappy CX, CS series, while thermaltake smart series is mostly out of stock. However, I've seen a Thermaltake Smart SE730W on an online store, forget it's name. Also, you could contact PakDukaan.com for availability of TT 630W, they had listed it on their store when I checked a couple of weeks ago.

Before you switch to new model psu, first properly identify the root cause of this issue, then take the step. As the matter of fact, we have only pointed out the issue, suggestively, not 100% surety. It could be GPU itself, but it's you who need to look into it as you got the hardware. We'll give you as much information/guide as you need.

Okay so i think i got the issue fixed pretty much..... i got myself a thermaltake litepower 650W...and along the way i also changed the motherboard of the system which i had suspicion of being faulty..after that i gave it a test on the furmark for a full hour or so..
so far Alhamdolillah no troubles.. and its working good.....IF God forbid i encounter the problem again that its probably a GPU related issue.. i just hope it holds out a little longer till my next upgrade..

You guys are like "Computer k hakeem" :D pretty much always point accurately towards what might be causing the issue xD m grateful to you all, thank you people.. (y)
