After garnering six Oscar nominations with his harrowing true-life war epic Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson is officially back from professional Gulag. The guy who won Oscar gold with Braveheart, then went on to create one of the all-time blockbusters with Passion of the Christ before drunkenly torpedoing his own career, has cleaned the slate and is quickly re-establishing himself as a bankable director and actor.
How do you follow up the success of Hacksaw Ridge? First you pursue a part in a comedy sequel starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Next you line up a role alongside Vince Vaughn in a movie about corrupt cops. Then you get on the comic book bandwagon, evidently.

It was first reported Wednesday that Mel Gibson (of all people) was in talks with Warner Bros. to take over for David Ayer as director of Suicide Squad 2. Late Wednesday night, Gibson confirmed the news to an audience at a Q&A after a screening of Hacksaw Ridge (via Batman-News). The moderator asked Gibson how close he was to locking down a deal and Gibson said, “It’s kind of a first date”. Gibson reportedly has competition for the job, with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) also being considered. Variety reporter Justin Kroll, who on Wednesday broke news about the directors in the running for Suicide Squad 2, offered some insight into what Gibson is thinking here. The presence of Will Smith in the cast appears to be a big selling point for Gibson:
@krolljvar while some might say he said he would never do a comic book movie, heard he is more intrigued by this cast then material
— Justin Kroll (@krolljvar) February 16, 2017
Will and Mel actually wanted to do THE ACCOUNTANT years ago but old regime didn't want Mel but shows how much Mel want to work with Will
— Justin Kroll (@krolljvar) February 16, 2017
Though critically reviled, Suicide Squad was a hit with worldwide audiences, raking in $756 million globally. In the months since the movie’s release, director David Ayer has expressed regret about some of the decisions that were made on the film, including the unfortunate move to cut out most of Jared Leto’s performance as The Joker rather than let Joker be the movie’s main villain.

One of the bright spots of Suicide Squad, even for people who didn’t much care for the movie overall, was the performance of Will Smith as Deadshot. Smith brought a much-needed note of soulfulness to the character, helping ground the somewhat confusing action in human feeling. Margot Robbie and Joel Kinnaman also gave good performances but for some people the actors were not given enough chance to shine through the frenzied action, disjointed storytelling and loud pop music soundtrack.
If it’s true that Gibson has long wanted to work with Smith, it makes sense that he would be eyeing Suicide Squad 2. It also makes sense from a financial standpoint, as Gibson would be well-compensated for his work. Artistically however, what would Gibson stand to gain from tackling a comic book movie? Perhaps for him it would just be the challenge of proving he can pull off that kind of movie (even though he has denigrated comic book movies in the past). Gibson proved himself a master of action with Braveheart and Hacksaw Ridge, so handling the big set pieces would be no problem for him. His feel with actors has always been good as well, so he could surely coax good performances out of his players. The question one has to ask is whether Gibson, a guy known for being a hot-head, is temperamentally suited to working closely with DC and Warner Bros. on a very big-budget movie. Gibson is used to having creative control on his movies, but on Suicide Squad 2 he would have to answer to the studio. This is a story to keep an eye on going forward.

Suicide Squad 2: Cara Delevingne ‘Pretty Sure’ She’s Not Returning

Cara Delevingne has shot down hopes of her returning for Suicide Squad 2. Shortly after officially launching the DC Extended Universe last year with Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. expanded upon their burgeoning universe by following up Snyder’s film with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad later that summer, which focused on a group of supervillains who conduct covert government operations in order to cut time off their prison sentences.
Suicide Squad was one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and after the critical disappointment of the first two DCEU movies, people looked to the third chapter as some sort of saving grace. Unfortunately, the movie was just as critically maligned as Batman V Superman, with many critics citing the film’s haphazard editing and lackluster villain as its worst flaws. However, audience reactions were decidedly mixed, with roughly half the people agreeing with critics and the other half admittedly enjoying the film — though many people would agree that the Enchantress probably wasn’t the right choice for the villain.
Leading into the movie, many people thought Jared Leto’s Joker was going to be the main villain (something Ayer has since admitted would have been the right choice), though it wasn’t until later that they realized that Delevingne’s Dr. June Moone, aka the Enchantress, was the titular enemy. In the end of the movie, the Enchantress’ heart had been cut out, and then Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) crushed it, thereby returning Dr. Moone. Although her character is still alive, Delevingne told USA Today she’s “pretty sure” she won’t return for the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel:

“It was a life-changing experience and, of course, I’d do another one, but I don’t think it would make sense for the character. I’ll probably still be on the set hanging out with everyone.”

Suicide Squad may not have been the movie that critics and many audiences were hoping for, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t commercially successful. The blockbuster movie grossed over $745 million at the worldwide box office (without releasing in China) against an estimated production budget of $175 million – thanks in large part to Margot Robbie playing Harley Quinn in the character’s first-ever live-action appearance, as well as Will Smith providing his star-power as Deadshot.
The film’s box office success convinced the studio not only to pursue another Suicide Squad film but also a Gotham City Sirens movie, which Ayer will direct with Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, as well as a potential Deadshot spinoff. Although there’s still quite a bit we don’t know about the latter two movies, Suicide Squad 2 will reportedly enter production in mid-2018, with The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra the current frontrunner to helm the sequel. The studio is expected to discuss their future DCEU slate at San Diego Comic-Con this week, so be sure to check back for any information on Suicide Squad 2 — but at this time, people shouldn’t expect Delevingne to return.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2: Jaume Collet-Serra Passes On Directing[/h]

Warner Bros. is back to searching for a Suicide Squad 2, now that previous frontrunner Jaume Collet-Serra has instead signed on to direct Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise movie for Disney.
While Suicide Squad was a blockbuster hit in 2015 with a final global cume of $745.6 million ($325.1 domestically, $420.5 internationally), it’s been anything but smooth sailing for Warner Bros. to pull together the creative team for the supervillain sequel. David Ayer, who directed the original, has opted to focus his energies on the spinoff Gotham City Sirens instead, and bids to secure helmers like Oscar-winning director Mel Gibson have come up short.
[h=3]Related: Suicide Squad 2 Officially Confirmed at SDCC 2017[/h]That makes Collet-Serra the latest filmmaker to circle the Suicide Squad sequel, before passing in favor of something else. As reported by Deadline, Collet-Serra – who directed Liam Neeson in thrillers like Non-Stop and Run All Night, and most recently helmed The Shallows, starring Blake Lively – has indeed passed on Suicide Squad 2. The publication says the director saw Jungle Cruise as a better opportunity with a bankable global star, as opposed to continuing on with a storyline originated by another filmmaker.

Jaume Collet-Serra working on The Shallows

Only time will tell if Collet-Serra is making the right move. Johnson, no doubt, has proven his box-office muscle over the past few years, but even the venerable action star has showed he’s not impervious to flops – like this summer’s Baywatch.
And while sequels are hardly ever a sure thing, Suicide Squad appears to present a better opportunity than most, considering that Suicide Squad got a lukewarm reception from fans and critics (despite its boffo box office). Instead of worrying about the foundation Ayer laid for Suicide Squad, perhaps Collet-Serra should have concentrated how he could make the potential franchise his own.
Whoever is next in line after Collet-Serra, Warner Bros. needs to lock in a director soon so that Suicide Squad 2 can move forward. With the film potentially going before cameras next year, a lot of uncertainties remain, including a commitment from Jared Leto to return as the Joker; the revelation that Cara Delevingne is “pretty sure” she won’t be back as The Enchantress for the sequel; and most of all, the film’s script, which is reportedly being re-written.
Fortunately, for the studio, director names like Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) have been floated around as potential helmers for Suicide Squad 2 – so at least with the loss of Collet-Serra, Warner Bros. won’t have to start over from scratch in their search.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2 Being ‘Fast-Tracked’ By Warner Bros[/h]

Suicide Squad 2 is being fast-tracked by Warner Bros. as they look to the future of the DC Extended Universe. Although it still doesn’t have a director locked in to helm the project, the studio is obviously confident that they can quickly produce a sequel. Since the DCEU was officially launched in 2016 with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans and critics alike have criticized the studio’s attempt at a shared universe. The DCEU is developing a number of films further down the line, including Nightwing, Batgirl, Shazam, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps, and Suicide Squad 2.
Previously, Mel Gibson had been in talks to helm Suicide Squad 2, but with no official confirmation it doesn’t seem like he’ll be taking the reins. Guy Ritchie has also mentioned that he’d be interested in taking the role, but there has been no word on the status of that either. Harley Quinn and The Joker are reportedly going to return, including the main cast from Suicide Squad. With the villainous couple being two of the most popular characters in comics, it’s no surprise Warner Bros. wants the characters in as many films as possible.

THR found that the Joker & Harley movie is being developed from the Crazy, Stupid Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, but a source said that Warner Bros. is attempting to release Suicide Squad 2 as quickly as possible. It was also recently reported that Warner Bros. is looking to start filming Suicide Squad 2 during 2018, as a script is currently being written. And even though Gibson is reportedly still the first choice for the studio, they’re also searching for other directors to helm the project.

The DC movie news has been flying out over the past two days, as Warner Bros. also announced that a solo Joker movie produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) was in the works outside of the DCEU. With the recent announcement of a Harley Quinn and Joker movie alongside the characters’ appearance in Gotham City Sirens, it seems like Warner Bros. is really playing on the popular nature of the characters. But will multiple films starring different versions of the character confuse mainstream audiences?
With Jared Leto reportedly unhappy with how much footage he shot for Suicide Squad was left on the cutting room floor, could this be some sort of compensation for the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer? Of course, Warner Bros. is going around Leto for the solo Joker movie as the studio wants to take on a different actor for the film separate from the DCEU. Although this does give the studio the capability to tell wider stories, it could also get messy for audiences expecting to see one version of the character and getting another.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2 May Not Start Production Until Fall 2018[/h]

Suicide Squad 2 won’t start filming until fall of 2018, according to the latest update on the DC Extended Universe movie sequel. The reason? Costar Will Smith’s busy schedule.
The story of a motley crew of imprisoned supervillains enlisted by a shadowy government agency to ostensibly do some good in the world, Suicide Squad was the third entry into the DCEU, after director Zack Snyder’s one-two punch of Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film would ultimately share Batman V Superman’s fate with both critics and at the box office, bringing in $745 million worldwide. Since then, both a direct Suicide Squad sequel and a pair of spinoff films (more about them later) have been put into development.
[h=4]Despite previous reports that Suicide Squad 2 is being fast-tracked, the movie most likely won’t start filming for another year from the time of writing this. Variety‘s Justin Kroll is reporting that the film isn’t expected to begin production until fall 2018 at the earliest, as Smith will be busy with other projects in the meantime – most notably, voicing/playing The Genie in Disney and director Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin retelling/remake.[/h]

Suicide Squad director David Ayer is not involved with the sequel and is instead attached to helm one of the two previously-mentioned spinoff films, Gotham City Sirens. In addition to the villain-centric Gotham City Sirens, DC is also developing a spinoff film featuring Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn – who, along with Smith’s Deadshot, were the standouts of the first Suicide Squad movie. This arguably raises the question of whether Suicide Squad 2 is a necessity in the first place, despite Warner Bros. and DC’s plans to move forward with the sequel.
Suicide Squad, while a financial success, was a bust with critics and had its origins in the pre-Geoff Johns regime of the DCEU. In these respects, the continuation of the Suicide Squad films arguably feels out of step with the franchise’s current direction post-Wonder Woman (the biggest film of the summer) and its efforts to introduce more DC Comics characters to the big screen for the first time. Given the bevy of DC Comics films that are currently in some stage of development, ranging from David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! to a non-DCEU based Joker origin film, it’s easy to see how Suicide Squad 2 could end up on the DCEU’s back-burner for awhile.

[h=1]Why Suicide Squad 2 is the Perfect Way to Introduce Black Adam[/h]

Riddle me this: Which superhero cinematic universe has one of the biggest movie stars in the world signed to be a part of it yet fans still haven’t seen him in a movie? If you guessed the DCEU and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, you guessed the magic answer. Since 2014, Johnson has been locked in to join the DCEU as Black Adam, who is one of the most powerful characters in DC Comics. Johnson is certainly enthusiastic about playing Black Adam, whom he calls “the most intriguing superhero.” Thus far, however, neither The Rock nor his future superpowered alter ego have been sighted in a DCEU film.
Black Adam is traditionally the arch enemy of Shazam. However, the Shazam movie, which will be directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) and just found its star in Zachary Levi (Heroes Reborn), is not expected to include Johnson as Black Adam in its cast (unless Johnson appears in a mid-credits tease, which is certainly possible.) Meanwhile, the Black Adam solo feature film has just found a screenwriter in Adam Sztykiel, who wrote Rampage, which also stars Johnson. This places the Black Adam movie in the earliest stages of pre-production. Yet since promoting Baywatch last May, Johnson has been teasing when fans will finally get to see him as Black Adam:
“It’s definitely going to happen… We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.”
It now looks like that first appearance will be Suicide Squad 2. And if this rumor is proven to be true, it’s the perfect movie for Black Adam to debut in!
[h=2]THE ANTI-HERO[/h]

The Justice League are the World’s Greatest Superheroes. The Suicide Squad, meanwhile, were billed as the Worst Heroes Ever. Black Adam is set apart from both: he is the Anti-Hero. Neither strictly good nor evil, Black Adam has, in Johnson’s own words, “a ruthless code… that I feel in my bones.” This is what drew the actor to this particular character above all others. The DCEU version of Black Adam will likely cherry pick various elements from his rich comic book history, which goes back over 70 years, but is expected to be based on the most recent New 52 incarnation of the character:
The nearly immortal Black Adam was a slave in the fictional Middle Eastern nation of Khandaq long ago. When Teth-Adam’s nephew Aman was chosen by the ancient wizard Shazam to be his champion, Adam killed Aman and stole the power of the lightning for himself. Aman had planned to use Shazam’s power to benefit the people of Khandaq, but Adam sought to use the power to wreak vengeance on those who enslaved him. Black Adam has been an outright villain who has battled not only Shazam but every major DC superhero throughout various comics – Adam even once instigated World War III – but he has alternately been depicted as the pragmatic ruler of Khandaq who has dedicated himself to the protection of his nation and its people. Adam has the regal bearing and countenance of a monarch, which makes him unlike anyone else in the DCEU.
Like the superhero Shazam, Black Adam has the power of six gods, but in his case, six Egyptian gods as opposed to the six Greco-Roman gods Shamam draws his power from. Black Adam is one of the strongest beings in the DC Universe. He has strength, speed and stamina on a par with Superman and wisdom and experience that rivals Wonder Woman’s. Judge him by the altruistic heroic code of the Justice League, however, and Black Adam is easily cast as ‘a bad guy.’ Which makes him an ideal fit for the Suicide Squad.
[h=2]BLACK ADAM AND THE SUICIDE SQUAD[/h]

No stranger to working with his fellow villains when it suits him, Black Adam has a comic book history with the Suicide Squad. In Suicide Squad #58 set during the 1994 “War of the Gods” crossover event, Adam joined forces with Amanda Waller’s team of super villains-turned-government black operatives to raid the island of the sorceress Circe. Similarly, in the Suicide Squad movie, their first mission ended with the Squad having to take out the Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) to save Midway City. The Suicide Squad is already old hat at dealing with beings possessed of otherworldly power.
[h=3]The early word on Suicide Squad 2 suggests that the sequel helmed by director Gavin O’Connor (Warrior, The Accountant) wouldn’t utilize Dwayne Johnson as a card-carrying (or in the Squad’s case, a nano bomb in their neck-carrying) member of the team. Rather, the Squad would be deployed to find a weapon of mass destruction, which would be revealed as Black Adam. This would essentially amount to a cameo meant to accommodate Johnson’s legendary busy schedule, but would still allow The Rock to make a dramatic and memorable impact as Black Adam, whetting appetites for his solo movie and more appearances in the future.[/h]
If this plot turns out to be the basis of Suicide Squad 2, it also has a comic book precedent: the plot of “The Black Vault”, 2016’s Suicide Squad Rebirth comics’ first story arc, saw the Squad deployed to a Russian prison to retrieve a Phantom Zone portal, which lead to the mysterious Black Vault and its inhabitant: General Zod. The Superman villain then battled the Squad and murdered Captain Boomerang (though the death didn’t stick). This scenario could easily be adapted for Suicide Squad 2, and with the DCEU’s Zod (Michael Shannon) now twice dead after being turned into Doomsday in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Black Adam would be a logical substitute for Zod and an awesome target for the Squad to face.

The Suicide Squad cast is already bristling with charismatic movie stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie as the killer marksman Deadshot and the insanely dangerous Harley Quinn, respectively. Even in a cameo of a few minutes of screen time, Dwayne Johnson and his singular brand of cinematic electricity would be an irresistible box office draw for fans. Just seeing Johnson share the screen for the first time with Smith, Robbie, Jai Courtney, and the rest of the Squad while all are in their superhero regalia would be fantastic to watch.

Johnson jokingly refers to himself as ‘Movie Franchise Viagra’ for his proven track record in taking the franchises like The Fast and the Furious to the next level. Suicide Squad, which grossed upwards of $800-million despite its critical drubbing and low Rotten Tomatoes score, isn’t an ailing franchise by any means. However, The Rock as Black Adam facing off against Deadshot and Harley Quinn could just be what would take the Squad past that billion-dollar mark which has proven to be elusive for a DCEU film thus far.

Black Adam is also an intriguing character for the Suicide Squad to encounter. Certainly, he’s more powerful than all of them put together (but they’re used to that after taking down the Enchantress). But there’s a lot of comedy and engaging character interactions to be mined from the ruthless and imperious Black Adam meeting the off-her-rocker Harley Quinn, the acerbic Captain Boomerang, the straight arrow soldier Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), and the all-business Deadshot. Harley infuriating and exasperating Black Adam would be a lot of fun to watch, while Deadshot and Adam would likely find some common ground and mutual respect. Even though they’re all DC super villains, they are very much opposite types of villains, and this is a case where opposites would attract.

Black Adam’s origins and backstory also benefit the Suicide Squad. It’s a perfect way to broaden the scope of the DCEU and introduce the nation of Khandaq. The first Suicide Squad was set in an American prison and in an American city. Chasing after Black Adam in the sequel would likely take the Squad into international territory, with all of the fish out of water dramatic, comedic, and action-packed scenarios a bunch of super villains dropped into another country to chase after an even more powerful super villain would entail. If Black Adam’s potential role in Suicide Squad 2 amounts to more than a cameo and he ends up working with the Squad, what could be more entertaining than the Worst Heroes Ever having their own evil version of Superman fighting on their side?
[h=3]Related: Will DC Call Shazam ‘Captain Marvel’?[/h]There are rumored talks about Black Adam potentially being the villain Superman faces in Man of Steel 2, but that long-awaited sequel being greenlit won’t happen until Justice League‘s critical and box office performances are tallied. A Shazam sequel is just as far off and as uncertain a proposition at this early stage. Dwayne Johnson’s star power is reliable (Baywatch was a rare miss for the superstar), but Black Adam is not a household name and he needs an introduction to movie audiences before his solo film sees the light of day. Black Adam needs to already be cemented as an integral part of the DCEU, which he would be by encountering a power broker like the Suicide Squad’s black-hearted leader Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).
Suicide Squad 2, where Black Adam would face off against other dastardly but also very popular rogues, would be the ideal way for audiences to meet the Anti-Hero. Black Adam bringing the thunder to the Suicide Squad would not only light up movie screens, but opens the door to his potentially facing other DCEU superheroes like Superman and Wonder Woman in their sequels as well. But for now, the Worst Heroes Ever and the Anti-Hero need each other, and the DCEU needs them together.

Diablo May Be Back From The Dead in Suicide Squad 2 Suicide Squad 2 is about to begin filming – and it looks as though Jay Hernandez’s Diablo may well be returning.Although Suicide Squad was heavily criticized for its choppy editing, most of the casting decisions were top-rate. The Squad somehow changed shape as the film progressed, with the villains gradually morphing into a family. Tragically, by the end of the film the family’s heart had been torn out; Diablo was forced to sacrifice himself to defeat the Incubus.Joel Kinnaman (better known to Suicide Squad fans as Rick Flagg) has taken to social media, posting a workout photo to suggest that the sequel is about to start filming. Curiously, Jay Hernandez actually seems to be with them as well.Brendan whipping us back into shape. Jay puked. #garagegymA post shared by Joel Kinnaman (@joelkinnaman) on Jan 18, 2018 at 3:37pm PSTAdvertising [x] Diablo’s death was one of the most powerful scenes in the film. He’d “already lost one family“, and the pyrokinetic resolved that he wouldn’t lose another one. As a result, he powered up to a phenomenal level, and began to slug it out with the Incubus. Even the powerful Diablo was overmatched, but he was able to manipulate the Incubus into standing over an explosive, sacrificially holding him in place until it was detonated.RELATED: Suicide Squad 2 Adds Social Network & Moneyball ProducerIt certainly seemed like a death scene, but Hernandez has insisted fans shouldn’t write Diablo out of the sequel. “Let’s just say he’s a metahuman,” Hernandez quipped. “What are you going to do? There are possibilities there.” Given Diablo’s fire-based powerset, the fact he apparently died in a blast of fire certainly gives Warner Bros. an out.Of all the Squad, Diablo was the one who cared the most. Although he initially held back, the tortured pyrokinetic gradually opened up to the possibility of belonging to something once again. It was Diablo who really began to see Task Force X as more than just a team; he recognized them as his new family. His death would leave a gaping hole in Suicide Squad, making it very difficult for the film to recreate that sense of belonging. The reality is that Task Force X needs a man like Diablo to hold them together.Right now, we only have one post on social media, so it’s too soon to say for certain that Diablo will return in Suicide Squad 2. At the same time, Hernandez is definitely in the workout photo with Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney, so he’s sure to play some kind of role.

Suicide Squad 2 Will Be ‘More Grounded’ Than Original Suicide Squad 2 will be a “more grounded” movie than the original says returning star Joel Kinnaman. The second Suicide Squad has reportedly set a fall 2018 production start date with 2019 targeted as the release year. Gavin O’Conner will take over writing and directing duties from David Ayer. A recent social media posting showed Joel Kinnaman working out with co-stars Jai Courtney and Jay Hernandez, possibly in preparation for the Suicide Squad sequel. Hernandez’s appearance in the photo sparked speculation that his deceased El Diablo character will experience a resurrection.Suicide Squad flopped with critics but satisfied many DCEU fans with its story of bad guys teaming up to become heroes. Debate rages to this day over whether Suicide Squad was actually a good movie, but there’s no questioning its box office. Overall, Suicide Squad tallied $746 million worldwide. With those numbers, it was a no-brainer for Warner Bros. to re-assemble the team for a sequel. But perhaps with a few tweaks to the formula. While speaking to Yahoo! about his upcoming Netflix series Altered Carbon, Joel Kinnaman briefly discussed Suicide Squad 2 and the tweaks that could make the film a better overall experience. Asked about what went wrong with the critically panned original film, Kinnaman bluntly replied “the third act.” The actor then went into some depth about why Suicide Squad 2 will be different. See the video above. It was a great set-up. Great characters. I think that when we do a second one I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see more of a grounded version of the film. I think the characters are so extreme, so I think it could be more effective if we’re seeing them with maybe less sorcery. Because the characters become more extreme if you see them in conjunction with more real people.Interestingly, Kinnaman zeroes in on the third act as a problem with the original film. Viewers will recall that the third act involved the Suicide Squad coming together to battle Enchantress, a sorceress attempting to take over Earth while possessing the body of June Moore, an archaeologist and the love interest of Kinnaman’s character Rick Flag. Enchantress uses her powers to entice the squad members over to her side by promising to fulfill their greatest fantasies. However, they manage to resist the sorcery and ultimately band together as a team to defeat her. In the process, El Diablo sacrifices himself.Even many people who liked Suicide Squad overall found the over-the-top finale a bit hard to swallow. Director David Ayer himself admitted the film would have been better served using Jared Leto’s Joker as the main villain instead of Enchantress. Though, at the same time, the Joker character one must admit was not without his problems. Kinnaman in his own comments takes a seeming shot at the silliness of Enchantress with his reference to Suicide Squad 2 having “maybe less sorcery.” As Kinnaman alludes to, it arguably was a mistake giving the crazy Suicide Squad such a completely ridiculous nemesis. A more grounded approach might indeed serve a sequel better. Those who disliked Suicide Squad did point to a few positive elements about the film. One of these positives was a simple scene of the group interacting in a tavern before their final mission. Perhaps Suicide Squad 2 will feature more chances for the characters to legitimately play off each other. And many will echo Kinnaman’s apparent belief that the movie would be better with less sorcery.Source: Yahoo!

Getting Suicide Squad 2 ‘Right’ is a Big Priority Says Joel Kinnaman

It’s a big priority for Warner Bros. to get everything right in Suicide Squad 2, especially after the shortcomings in their recent DC films. Following the release of Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, the studio expanded their newly-formed DC Comics-based universe by releasing David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Fans hoped that Suicide Squad would be a turning point for the unofficially titled DCEU, especially after two highly-divisive releases from Snyder. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

Suicide Squad ended up becoming the lowest-rated DCEU movie and one of the lowest-rated DC Comics movies ever. But that didn’t stop the film from also becoming an indisputable box office success. Suicide Squad grossed $746.8 million at the worldwide box office against an estimated production budget of $175 million. That’s a significant sum, especially considering not only did the movie score low ratings but also that it didn’t release in China (the world’s second-largest moviegoing market). The fact is, Suicide Squad was successful enough to spawn a sequel, which is now being directed by Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant), written by Zak Penn (The Avengers), and produced by Michael De Luca (Moneyball).

While not much is known about Suicide Squad 2 at this stage, Joel Kinnaman, who played Rick Flag in the first movie, told Collider that the sequel is a big priority for Warner Bros., and there’s a big priority amongst those involved to get it right this time around.

“No, I don’t know. I just know that they are working intensely on it. I know it’s a big priority at Warner Bros., but it’s an equally big priority to get it right. We all felt that we had lightning in a bottle, in a way, and it partly got away from us, a little bit. It’s really important to harness everything that was great about it, and then fix what didn’t really work. So, I know they’re working on it, and we’ll see. I’m very excited to read something, but I don’t have any new information.”

It’s unknown exactly who will be appearing in Suicide Squad 2, though it’s fair to assume that Kinnaman and Margot Robbie will be returning as Rick Flag and Harley Quinn, respectively, as well as possibly Jared Leto as the Joker and Will Smith as Deadshot. Suicide Squad 2 is slated to start filming in fall 2018 for a presumed release in 2020.

It’s worth noting that Suicide Squad 2 isn’t the only movie involving DC’s worst heroes. Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn is considered one of DC’s biggest successes in recent years, and they don’t want to squander away the opportunity to capitalize on her popularity. So, Robbie is slated to return in at least three Harley-related films in the coming years, including Suicide Squad 2. The other two movies are Birds of Prey and Joker/Harley Quinn. On the other hand, Gotham City Sirens may no longer be happening. Then, there was talk about a Deadshot spinoff starring Will Smith, but it seems Deadshot may have also fallen by the wayside.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2 Writer Confirms Script is Finished[/h]

The Suicide Squad 2 script is complete, according to one of the movie's screenwriters. After officially launching their shared DC movie universe with Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in early 2016, which was a follow-up to the filmmaker's 2013 Man of Steel movie, Warner Bros. opted to quickly expand their newly-formed franchise with David Ayer's Suicide Squad later that summer. While it was critically panned, the film became an astounding financial success, and it showed that people were interested in these characters.
So, WB decided to place most of their cards on developing direct spinoffs and various other offshoots of Suicide Squad, with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn headlining the bulk of those projects. Jared Leto's Joker is another character that is being positioned to lead future installments as well, but WB is focused more on producing Todd Phillips'Joker origin movie with Joaquin Phoenix first. As for the rest of Task Force X, the studio is still keen on developing a sequel, but it has hit a few snags along the way. But, that doesn't mean it has been forgotten.

In an interview with Discussing Film, Suicide Squad 2 co-screenwriter Todd Stashwick confirms that their draft of the screenplay has been completed, saying, "We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it." While he refrained from revealing any details about the plot or characters that it will include, he did note that it is very much a sequel to the first movie, thus meaning that WB isn't looking at the new movie as a quasi-reboot of the team, trying to stray away from earlier DCEU films.

[h=1]Suicide Squad Characters James Gunn Already Wanted To Work With[/h]

James Gunn may have revealed which characters he wants to use in Suicide Squad 2 back in 2016. The news that Gunn has jumped ship to Warner Bros. has shaken superhero fandom all over the world. Fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3by Disney back in July after some controversial social media posts were uncovered, Gunn has kept his head down for the last few months - only to resurface as writer, and possibly director, of a DC movie.
Gunn is ideally suited to the Suicide Squad sequel and naturally, the announcement that he's writing the film is leading to intense speculation as to just what it could be about. This is doubly true given the Task Force X premise. Suicide Squad has a roster that's always changing, with Amanda Waller basically forcing any super-villains who happen to be in Belle Reve at the time to work for her. They don't always last long, either, not least because Waller plants bombs in her prisoners' heads in order to force them to work for her.

That means Gunn could pack the team with any characters he wants, including even some non-villains who it's not hard to imagine winding up in the prison. And we may know who two of those may be. In an interview back in 2016, Gunn admitted that he'd "had opportunities to make DC films" before, but had turned them down. He then reeled off the names of a few characters he'd like to work with for DC - two of whom would fit very well into a Suicide Squad movie.
[h=2]SWAMP THING[/h]

First up we have Swamp Thing, a character created by Len Wein back in 1974 but effectively relaunched by Alan Moore in the '80s. One of DC's perennial favorites, the Swamp Thing is a mystical creature who protects the "Parliament of Trees," guardian of all plant-life on Earth. The Swamp Thing comics are among DC's most beloved horror franchises, and they're known for their creative, off-key vibe.

It hardly comes as a surprise to hear that Gunn likes Swamp Thing; his comics are crazy enough to have popped up on his radar. But here's the surprising twist; although at first glance Swamp Thing doesn't appear connected to Waller's Suicide Squad, the creature has served as both an ally and an enemy for different incarnations of the team. In fact, one incarnation of the
Suicide Squad crossed paths with Swamp Thingas recently as August this year, when one of their missions took them into a swamp. This is the advantage of the Suicide Squad concept; the team could go anywhere, deal with any mission, cross paths with any force.

The only wrinkle here is that a Swamp Thing TV series is in development for the DC Universe streaming service. Historically, DC has attempted to avoid conflict between live-action movie and TV versions of characters (including
removing the Suicide Squad themselves from Arrow ahead of their movie), although recently that's begun to shift.

[h=2]JONAH HEX[/h]

Another character Gunn namedropped was Jonah Hex. Now, this one may seem like a more surprising suggestion, given Jonah Hex hasn't had any explicit connection to the Suicide Squad in the comics. But DC's most dangerous disfigured cowboy, a warrior who fought in the American War of Independence but was branded by a demon's mark, could easily be worked onto the team.
In the comics, Jonah Hex was kidnapped from his own time, transported to a post-apocalyptic future; that could easily be swapped for the present day. Indeed, Hex's time being manipulated into working for crime lords could easily be rewritten as coming afoul of the law and getting incarcerated in Belle Reve, while he's already known to clash with the Batman of his era. Logic aside, Jonah Hex would add a fascinating dynamic to a Suicide Squad team, and no doubt Gunn would have great fun riffing on the cowboy's struggle to understand the present day. It would also be a good way to reboot the character on the big screen after the disappointing Josh Brolin movie.

Naturally, these are only two possibilities, but they're DC characters James Gunn has admitted to loving (he also cited Shazam and Metal Men, who don't quite fit). We'll just have to wait and see what surprises his Suicide Squad 2
movie hold.

[h=1]James Gunn At DC Proves Disney Made A Big Mistake[/h]

James Gunn moving to DC proves that Disney made a mistake in firing him. Gunn had spent the last six years dedicating most of his time to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He directed two Guardians of the Galaxy movies and made Disney over $1.5 billion in doing so. But, any goodwill he'd built up was thrown away when Disney fired him as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Disney fired Gunn after old tweets resurfaced at the center of a personal and political attack on him. The tweets contained Gunn's previous attempts at shock humor, but the backlash against them coming back to light was too much for Disney to withstand. They swiftly fired him and the decision hasn't been one that all parties have agreed on. While some believe Disney had no other option, the Guardians of the Galaxy castthemselves signed a letter supporting the matured man who Gunn is today. However, they're standing by their decision and will not be bringing Gunn back to direct Guardians 3, no matter how many fans or cast members would support it.

Since Gunn wasn't coming back to complete his trilogy, he was free to move on and so he has. It was recently reported that
Gunn will write and possibly direct Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros. and DC. His hiring on another major superhero movie less than three months after his original firing shows where WB and DC stand, but also proves that Disney's decision to fire him in the first place was a mistake.

[h=2]DISNEY ACTED TOO FAST IN FIRING JAMES GUNN[/h]

Disney decided to fire James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 just hours after the controversy around the decade-old tweets began. What they didn't seem to know at the time was that those tweets had been brought to light by political activist Mike Cernovich because of Gunn's repeated criticisms about Donald Trump. Gunn apologized for his past offensive style back when he was initially hired for the first Guardians movie and was quick to make another public apology in light of this attack. However, it didn't matter to Disney as they fired him shortly after his apology was published.

The problem for Disney wasn't just the decision to fire Gunn, but they did it without truly assessing the situation. While
Disney CEO Bob Iger says the decision to fire Gunn was a unanimous one that he still stands by, it was still a move made in the heat of the controversy. Disney similarly acted quickly in canceling Roseanne following another racist remark by Roseanne Barr, but the difference between these two instances is large. Gunn's tweets were old attempts at comedy that don't reflect who he is now, while Barr's tweets were made in the here and now and reflected her current personal worldviews. Disney treated them as if they were the same when they are in fact not.

Disney still could've made this same decision, but allowing some time to pass to investigate the tweets themselves, why they resurfaced, and to meet with Gunn could've resulted in an entirely different outcome. Indeed, the company didn't even sit down with Gunn before firing him, only having what was described as a "courtesy meeting" with him afterward to discuss his return, which Disney chairman Alan Horn wasn't interested in... right now.
[h=2]DISNEY DIDN'T ACTUALLY WANT TO GET RID OF GUNN ENTIRELY[/h]

Making matters even more complicated are the various reports regarding Disney and Marvel's actual stance on Gunn and his future. As the days past by after his firing, there were multiple reports that Gunn could in some way make a return to Marvel down the road. Coming back to direct Guardians 3 looked to be a long shot, but other future movies appeared to be on the table. If this is true, then Disney didn't really want to get rid of Gunn and his firing was instead done to create separation between them as the situation cooled.

In fact, Disney likely won't be able to get rid of Gunn anyways, so finding a way to bring him back made sense. Thanks to the WGA crediting system, there is no easy way out of Gunn getting credit on Guardians 3 and any subsequent movies that the Guardians may appear in. Possibly because of this, it has been reported and further stated by Sean Gunn that
Marvel will keep Gunn's script for the next Guardians film. They would basically have to have an entirely new cast of characters and story for the third film for Gunn not to receive story by credit anyways, and even then it isn't guaranteed, so it is simply easier to use what they paid for. And, it also guarantees that Gunn's larger vision for the core characters will be fulfilled as he envisioned. That's a consolation prize at best, as it will be up someone else to deliver on his take.

[h=2]GUNN WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PLAYER IN DEFINING MARVEL'S COSMIC UNIVERSE[/h]Gunn wasn't just going to be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's writer and director though, as he was also going to be a major voice in creating the future of the MCU's Cosmic wing. He established the look and tone of the cosmos through the first two Guardians films, and the way Thor: Ragnarok differentiates itself for the previous Thor movies is the prime example of how future cosmic films will likely maintain this style. He created the Guardians, introduced major cosmic elements, and his script for Guardians 3 sets up 10-20 years of Marvel stories. It is safe to say that Gunn wouldn't just be a director for the MCU moving past Phase 3 and could instead be the overseer of all cosmic Marvel movies.
Gunn had effectively become Feige's unofficial right-hand guy for all cosmic stories, so his future may have been well beyond the capacity of a regular director. After all, Feige's reach keeps expanding and will soon include reign over original Marvel TV series for Disney's streaming service and the ability to use the X-Men and Fantastic Four, so he may have needed someone else who understands these characters to help lighten his load. Gunn appeared ready to become a version of that guy for Marvel Cosmic; he already was a hands-on producer on Avengers: Infinity Warand Avengers 4, and could've served in a similar capacity on The Eternals and Marvel's other mystery cosmic properties. A few of these future films could even be projects that Gunn himself would decide to direct, but he would've likely produced most of these films if nothing else.

[h=2]BEING HIRED BY DC IS (PROBABLY) THE POINT OF NO RETURN[/h]

Now that Gunn has moved to DC, it's difficult to imagine him coming back to Marvel. If Marvel and Disney weren't going to give him the opportunity to continue creating new, exciting franchises for them, then taking his talents to DC is the next best thing - andmay even be a better fit. Despite him joining a reported sequel, his version of Suicide Squad is said to be a completely new take. This should give him almost complete freedom to do as he pleases, maybe even when it comes to a darker, edgier tone that Gunn established in some of his earlier, pre-Marvel films. And, as long as his Suicide Squad movie is a hit, then he could climb the ranks with DC and become a larger part of their cinematic universe.

It should be noted that the DC vs Marvel "rivalry" isn't a real thing when it comes to how studios operate, but this is still a statement made by Gunn and DC. If Marvel wouldn't take him back, what better way to show them how wrong they were then making DC tons of money. And if you're DC, why wouldn't you want a talented director like Gunn to join your ranks if Marvel isn't going to use him anymore? There is no exclusivity clauses in these contracts, so Gunn could theoretically still return to Marvel in the future. But, that relationship is fractured if not completely broken and it would be a humbling move if nothing else for Disney and Marvel to bring Gunn back after he potentially delivers a few hits for DC.
Even if they would have him back, his schedule could be dictated by any future plans for Warner Bros. At this point, Gunn's decision has been made and Disney will be left looking foolish for letting him go.

[h=1]James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2 Is A Fresh Take On The Series, Confirms DC[/h]

DC confirms that James Gunn is not only writing the script for Suicide Squad 2 but is also working on an entirely new version of the story. It's been over two years since David Ayer's first Suicide Squad movie hit theaters, and yet Warner Bros. Pictures appears to be no closer to putting the sequel into production. After spending some time in development, Suicide Squad 2 appeared to be moving forward when The Accountant's Gavin O'Connor was brought on to write and direct the sequel late last year.
O'Connor, along with screenwriters Todd Stashwick and David Bar Katz, have been hard at work on developing the story and screenplay for Suicide Squad 2, which was only recently turned into WB. Unfortunately, for them, the studio decided to move forward with Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey instead, which apparently has an identical story to their version of Suicide Squad 2. And so, with O'Connor having exited the sequel, WB is going back to square one with Gunn now writing the script and potentially eyeing the director's chair.

In addition to confirming that James Gunn is writing Suicide Squad 2, today's episode of DC Daily also revealed that the filmmaker is bringing "a completely fresh take to the franchise." Although it's been reported that Gunn is working on a new version of the story, the fact that DC mentions this is a fresh take on the series itself is particularly interesting.

Since DC refers to Gunn's movie as Suicide Squad 2, it's clear that he's still developing the sequel to Ayer's first movie, so "fresh take" could be referring to two things here: one, that Gunn is doing a full rewrite of the movie's story and script, and - two - that he's potentially taking the characters in an entirely different direction than how they were depicted in the original film, which may not be a bad thing if WB wants to continue to distance themselves from the earlier installments in the DCEU.

At the moment, Gunn appears to only be writing the script for Suicide Squad 2, though it's been reported that he's also being eyed to possibly direct. In most cases, filmmakers like Gunn who've helmed blockbuster movies before would be inclined to direct movies they've written before, but in his case, he has some experience scripting films for other directors. So it's entirely possible that he may not want to take on the reins as director this time around, especially given the fact that he's coming off of being fired by Disney from directing
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2: James Gunn In Talks to Direct With Mostly New Cast, Characters[/h]

James Gunn is in talks to direct The Suicide Squad, the sequel to Warner Bros. and DC Films' 2016 film Suicide Squad. In an effort to quickly assemble a universe full of characters, WB hired David Ayer to direct Suicide Squad and introduce some major DC characters in the process, many who already had connections to existing heroes. While the film was unquestionably a financial hit, Suicide Squad was not received well by critics.
The reaction pushed the studio to move in a new direction, leading them to hire Gavin O'Connor to write and direct Suicide Squad 2. However, he ultimately left the project, and when Disney fired James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it wasn't too long before WB looked his way. It was reported last year that he had been hired to write the script for a new take on Task Force X and that he could direct the film if everything progressed smoothly. After the film just received an August 2021 release date, more good news has come Suicide Squad 2's way.

It's being reported by
THR that James Gunn is indeed in talks to direct the Suicide Squad sequel, which was just officially titled The Suicide Squad. This was expected due to Gunn writing the script, one that reportedly features a mostly brand new cast of characters. The first film starred Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and more, but only Robbie and Davis may return according to SuperBroMovies' Daniel Ritchtman. His script is said to be "very much rooted in Gunn’s vibe."

Although Gunn's commitment to direct The Suicide Squad may have been somewhat expected, it is still a welcomed bit of news for the project and for Gunn's fans. Many have championed his character and right to return to direct following the controversy surrounding his old tweets, including Edgar Wright and Chris Miller both recently saying he should return to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. That appears to be an even longer shot now that he's found his next major project, especially since it could essentially be DC's version of the Guardians.

Gunn shouldn't have a problem finding people to star in The Suicide Squad's several new roles. Dave Bautista has been vocal about wanting to join the project and fans have imagined him playing several DC characters already. Whoever rounds out the cast, the reported returns of Robbie as Harley Quinn and Davis as Amanda Waller make complete sense. Harley was the breakout character of the film and is now getting her own film in Birds of Prey, while Waller runs the top secret team. The potential absence of Smith's Deadshot is possibly the biggest surprise, as he was also a hit with audiences. But, with Gunn's attachment coming on the heels of a release date, it appears The Suicide Squad is trending in the right direction and could pick up more steam quickly.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2 Gets a Summer 2021 Release Date[/h]

Warner Bros. has scheduled Suicide Squad 2 - which is now officially titledThe Suicide Squad - for an August 6, 2021 release date. The original Suicide Squad hit theaters back in August 2016 and was a commercial success that took in $747 million at the global box office. It was also generally derided by critics for its choppy editing and underdeveloped characters and plot threads - problems which are generally agreed to be the results of the movie's reshoots.
Despite the film's post-productions woes, Suicide Squad writer-director David Ayer was originally expected to return for the followup. However, he left the project some time ago and was subsequently replaced by filmmaker Gavin O'Connor (The Accountant). O'Connor set to work on his script thereafter and was eying an October 2018 production start date at one point, before the film was pushed back and the director moved on to other ventures. As of now, the project is instead being written by Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2 director James Gunn, who may yet end up helming the movie too.

THR has now confirmed the Suicide Squad sequel's title and 2021 release date, and further confirmed that Gunn is working on the script. In a separate report, the outlet revealed that Gunn is currently in talks to direct The Suicide Squad and his script features mostly new characters... as in, DC comic book characters who were not in the first Suicide Squad movie.

In truth, these changes in creative direction and behind the scenes talent onThe Suicide Squad were probably to be expected. The original movie clearly resonated with audiences - thanks largely to Margot Robbie's take on Harley Quinn and the film's general punk-rock vibe - but very much left something to be desired and room for improvement in a sequel. Between that and the larger changes made to the DC Extended Universe since Justice League's middling performance in 2017, it only makes sense that WB ultimately reached out to another filmmaker with a distinct style (like Ayer) to oversee the Skwad's next mission. That it ended up being Gunn - and after he was fired by Disney fromGuardians of the Galaxy 3, no less - was merely the surprising, but (for many people) pleasant twist ending to the saga.

As it stands, The Suicide Squad is now one of two DC films that WB has scheduled to hit theaters in 2021. The studio has also settled on
a June 2021 release date for Matt Reeves' The Batman, which gives it a healthy 3-month break between DCEU offerings that year. Meanwhile, Robbie's Harley Quinn will return to action in 2020's Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and could potentially appear in the thirdSuicide Squad movie, should it come to pass. As always, we'll keep you updated on that front.

[h=1]Harley Quinn Not Expected To Be In James Gunn's Suicide Squad[/h]

Harley Quinn isn't expected to appear in James Gunn's new Suicide Squadmovie for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. 2016's Suicide Squad performed well at the box office, especially internationally, but it was not received well critically. The movie is considered one of the weaker entries in the DCEU. Of the film's various elements though Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn was widely considered a high point. It's partly due to this success that Harley Quinn is spinning off into a Birds of Prey film.
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is taking control of the Suicide Squad franchise in his move from Marvel to DC and is determined to bring his own twist to the squad. It's already been confirmed that Gunn's The Suicide Squad would be a reboot of sorts for the team. With Harley's exclusion though it seems that the film will be a complete break from its predecessor.

A report by Forbes revealed some new information about Gunn's take on the group of DC anti-heroes. According to the report the movie will feature a new cast of characters and will avoid any direct tie-in to the first movie. Harley Quinn is not expected to be involved in any capacity as James Gunn's script is"a new approach and rethinking of the property."

It's not particularly surprising that Harley won't be involved in Gunn's The Suicide Squad. It's not exactly as if the DCEU is throwing out her character entirely. With Harley's starring role in the Birds of Prey movie, the movie universe still have plans for The Joker's (ex) girlfriend. Birds of Prey (and beyond) can still pick up on the story threads for Harley's character that begun in the original Suicide Squad. However Harley's exclusion and the information that there's a new cast does suggest quite a bit about Gunn's direction for the movie.

It's not clear if the new cast of The Suicide Squad refers to the squad itself or the entire movie. Even if Gunn does bring a very different energy and tone to the property it seems rather impossible to do a Suicide Squad movie without
Viola Davis' Amanda Waller involved. Waller is the reason that the Squad exists being the mastermind behind the group and/or the reason the group of criminals doesn't just run wild. Regardless of Waller though Harley being out suggests that every other character from the Squad in the first film, including Will Smith's Deadshot, will be equally absent. This would be the easiest and cleanest way for Gunn to do what is intended and cut out any obvious ties to the first movie.

From the outset this might make The Suicide Squad seem like a bit of challenge. The first film involved a great deal of characters who are famous for being on the Squad in the comics especially in the modern era. However James Gunn has proven track record of taking rather obscure or older characters from the source material and revitalizing them for the movie adaptation. None of the current Guardians of the Galaxy cast were household names before their cinematic debut and James Gunn's take on their characters. If James Gunn can make everyone love Rocket Raccoon, he can do the same with a DC character like
King Shark.

[h=1]Suicide Squad 2 Team Roster Includes King Shark, Peacemaker & More[/h]

James Gunn's
The Suicide Squad team roster is reportedly revealed to include the likes of DC Comics' King Shark, Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man and more. Released in 2016 and directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad introduced a host of villains-turned-antiheroes to the Worlds of DC franchise created by Warner Bros. and DC Films. However, while Suicide Squad was a box office success, it failed to win over critics and was divisive among moviegoers. As a result, it was unclear if Suicide Squad would get a sequel. But after Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy 3 at Disney, he was hired by Warner Bros. to pen the script for a Suicide Squad sequel. He's since also been hired to direct the film.

When it was first reported Gunn would be scripting Suicide Squad 2, it was also revealed he wouldn't be crafting a direct sequel to Ayer's movie. Instead, he'd likely have a different Task Force X team roster, aside from the mainstays like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith). It's since been confirmed
Harley Quinn will return for the Suicide Squad sequel. However,Smith dropped out of The Suicide Squad due to scheduling conflicts and it was recently reported Idris Elba is in talks to play Deadshot in the upcoming film. Now, the rest of Gunn's Suicide Squad roster is filling out.

As reported by
Collider, The Suicide Squad will feature DC Comics villains King Shark, Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher. Christopher Smith, aka. Peacemaker, is someone so dedicated to the idea of peace, he's willing to kill for it. Polka-Dot Man has polka dots all over his body that he can turn into balls of fire and other weapons. Nanaue, aka King Shark, is a humanoid shark and the supposed son of the Shark God. Ratcatcher will be a gender-flipped version of the DC Comics villain, Otis Flannegan, who starts off as an exterminator before turning to crime with the help of his rat army. Further, the script reportedly positions Deadshot as a surrogate father figure to Ratcatcher, however Collider stresses the script could undergo a rewrite and this dynamic or the roster as a whole may change. So far, none of these villains have been officially cast, but Gunn is eying his Guardians of the Galaxy collaborator Dave Bautista for the role of Peacemaker.

Based on this Suicide Squad team roster, it's clear those initial reports about Gunn's sequel were true insofar as he wouldn't be reusing too many of the characters from the 2016 film. Ayer's movie featured Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Katana (Karen Abuses will lead to banuhara) among others. As of yet, it's unclear whether Kinnaman or Davis will reprise their roles, but it's looking like none of the other Task Force X members will return.
In terms of the characters that will reportedly be included in Gunn's Suicide Squad, the list features a mix of relatively well-known characters and more obscure villains - and all seem to fit the writer-director's offbeat style. Fans of Gunn's are no doubt excited to see his take on King Shark, a character that has appeared in live-action before thanks to The CW's The Flash TV show. Plus, the out-there powers of Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher sound like they could make for some interesting additions to the film. Of course, the Task Force X team may still change, but an official roster and casting information should arrive soon since The Suicide Squad will start filming later this year ahead of the film's 2021 release date.

[h=1]DC Producer: James Gunn Won't Rush Suicide Squad For Guardians 3[/h]

DC producer Peter Safran says that James Gunn will focus all his efforts on making
The Suicide Squad before moving onto Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Gunn's relationship with Marvel has been a rollercoaster to watch unfold. In July of 2018, Gunn was fired as the director on the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, after a slew of controversial tweets from 2008 and 2009 were brought to light. He seemingly moved on a few months after that by signing on to write DC's next Suicide Squad movie, which he has since agreed to direct as well. Everything appeared to have settled down after that until yesterday, when Disney unexpectedly reinstated Gunn as the director for Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

At the moment, the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie doesn't have a release date, whereas The Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2021. It was confirmed yesterday that
Gunn will direct The Suicide Squadnext, followed by Guardians 3 sometime after that. Now, Safran has come out and offered further assurance that Gunn won't be rushing his DC Comics adaptation through the pipeline, in order to get back to work on the Guardiansfranchise faster.

In an interview with
JoBlo to promote DC's Shazam! (which opens in April), Safran had the following to say, when asked if either he or Gunn are under more pressure now to get The Suicide Squad made faster, in the wake of his rehiring on Guardians of the Galaxy 3:

"No, it was all handled incredibly elegantly and everybody knows on both sides that Suicide Squad is the priority today and he’ll finish that movie and then everybody knows that his next film will be Guardians. It’s the best of all possible both worlds, I think, for fans and for James Gunn himself."

Many people strongly believed that Disney had overreacted when it came to firing Gunn from the highly successful Guardians franchise, resulting in hashtags and petitions that even the stars of the Guardians movies vocalized their support for. The voices amassed and apparently had Disney thinking twice about their decision. It's even being reported now that Marvel didn't search for a replacement director on Guardians 3 between firing and rehiring Gunn to call the shots, despite rumors that Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi orVice's Adam McKay would be stepping in. Following the news of his rehiring,Gunn released a statement on Twitter saying, "I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. [...] I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all."

Elsewhere, The Suicide Squad is in pre-production, but aims to begin shooting sometime this fall. Few official details have been revealed about the film, though Margot Robbie is expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn and
Idris Elba will be replacing Will Smith as Deadshot. Warner Bros. has slotted the film for an August 2021 release, which means Guardians 3 won't be arriving until after that. Gunn did finish the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 script prior to being fired, but there is a good chance that rewrites will have to be made now, to coincide with Marvel's upcoming slate of releases.

It's a rare and wonderful time where we get to see a director handling a Marveland DC film, and Gunn's vibrant and comedic style should help breathe new life into The Suicide Squad. Not only that, but the Guardians threequel will be on the horizon soon after with a familiar face to help bring the franchise home. It's a win-win for the comic book world at large, really.

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

So while Playing Control, I found a journal which said that a bathroom is missing in Islamabad Beurue of Control. With Alan Wake and Control seems to be connected worlds. Even our city is in the universe as well. No wonder those Trail 5 and Trail 6 are haunted.
did you know you can see @NaNoW credited in the game too ? :p

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

I usually stay away from animes. Vinland saga changed the way i look at my life, and my experiences within. I recommend every breathing human being to watch this animated masterpiece at least once fromstart to finish.
After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
