Street Fighter 6 Gameplay Revealed

Capcom delivered our first look at Street Fighter 6's gameplay and more of its roster at PlayStation's June State of Play. The trailer showed off several iconic Street Fighter characters and teased what looks to be a new logo.

After the reveal Capcom confirmed the three new modes: Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub. Arcade Mode, Training Mode, local versus battles, and online matches will also return. Capcom said details about the roster and Battle Hub will be revealed at a later date. It did share, however, that World Tour will be Street Fighter 6's single-player story mode that "pushes the boundaries of what a fighting game is and allows players to leave their own legacy with their player avatar."

Street Fighter 6 will feature a new mechanic called the Drive System, which Capcom describes as "a new gauge used to perform five distinct techniques to enhance a player’s offensive or defensive capabilities." The techniques include Drive Impact, Drive Parry, Overdrive Art, Drive Rush, and Drive Reversal.

Capcom also announced the "Real Time Commentary Feature," a feature that adds commentary from FGC commentators like Jeremy "Vicious" Lopez, Aru, and others promising "real-time feedback and a new perspective."

Street Fighter 6 is being developed with Capcom's RE Engine and is slated for a 2023 release on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Catch all the announcements and reveals from PlayStation's June State of Play with IGN's news roundup.

Saeen distant NPCs running at low FPS has been a part of all the RE engine games on all platforms.

But that is not the same as GAME SLOWDOWN NEEDING A LOCK TO 30 FPS ON MODERN PCs nor is it t he same as texture related issues in the review.

Saeen imagine this, a PS4 cross-gen game, having issues on modern PCs.

For PC gamer sanity's sake I hope that issue is not wide spread and only relegated to that one reviewer.

I think I may be the first at Pakgamers to buy this gem of a fighting game from Capcom.

Hint: To play online, you need to register for a Capcom ID. The Capcom ID must be linked to your PSN/Xbox Live/Steam account. This can only be done using the Edge browser at the moment. You will see an error if using Chrome based browsers.

It's my first SF game, and I have to say, it's mad fun! The netcode, the feel and the gameplay, all work so wonderfully well! I can play this game with people from USA! Let that speak for the god tier netcode capcom has implemented for this game!

Guilty Gear Strive already had netcode as good, if not better, than Street Fighter 6.

Here's hoping for Necrokiller's sake that Tekken 8 has a half-decent rollback implementation

As someone who has also played Strive, I agree that it has pretty decent netcode. However, in my experience, I cannot say whether it is better than SF6. Both are still leagues ahead of any delay based netcode including T7.

Previously, Harada mentioned that their rollback implementation only worked up to 3F; otherwise, it would bork the animations. Funny how in my experience, it often seems to show 2-3 Delay frames instead of rollback, so I am not sure if that even works.

Anyway, they seem to have outsourced the netcode to ARIKA (developers of Fighting EX Layer) for T8. Here's hoping it's actually better than T7.
