Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

PS5 Exclusive Games Will Be Coming To PS4 Through 2022, Sony Suggests

The CEO of PlayStation suggested in an interview that PlayStation 5 exclusive games could potentially come to the PlayStation 4 as late as 2022.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan suggests that Sony-exclusive games for PlayStation 5 will likely continue to release on the PlayStation 4 into 2022. With the PlayStation 5's release on the horizon, it would be normal to assume that the PlayStation 4 is on its very last legs, but Ryan's statements serve as a reminder that these are anything but normal times. That means millions of PS4 users may get to use the platform for a few more years and play many of the same exclusives as its successor while Sony continues to work under strained COVID-19 precautions to make enough PS5s to make a dent in player demand. The upcoming PlayStation 5 has captured the attention of what feels like the entire world over the last few months, which has sadly led to a lot of issues for the new platform. When the PlayStation 5 first became available for preorder, things instantly descended into absolute chaos online as it sold out in mere moments. Websites crashed and many users were not able to get their hands on the console, and even now preorders have yet to open back up. It is seemingly increasingly likely that many gamers won't be able to get their hands on the PlayStation 5 on release day, and the likely reason lies in COVID-19 production shortages despite record-breaking pre-orders.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Jim Ryan heavily suggested that PlayStation 5 games would be coming to the PS4 for a few more years at least. At one point during the interview Ryan is talking about how important PlayStation 4 users are to Sony and how they want to continue keeping them engaged and happy for awhile still. He seems to suggest that major releases will still end up in PS4 players as far in the future as 2022, explaining:

"Obviously, our eyes and our horizons have lifted with regards to what's possible with that PS4 community, based on what we've observed over the last six months. That can be quite powerful, because in 2021, 2022... that PS4 community that we've spoken about, they will be the vast majority of people on PlayStations during that time. It is crucial that we keep them engaged and happy. And the last six months have demonstrated that we could do that to an extent that we didn't think possible when we were setting our minds pre-COVID."

Ryan also spoke at length about the possibility of Sony acquiring other game studios in order to compete with Nintendo and Microsoft, especially after the latter purchased Bethesda. While Ryan does not rule out the possibility of purchasing other groups, he believes that PlayStation already has a host of impressive studios to keep it competitive. He cites Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch both as studios that provide experiences that can't be acquired anywhere other than with PlayStation.

The PlayStation 4 is widely regarded as one of the best video game consoles that has ever released, and for very good reason. Considering how many excellent exclusive experiences it has provided players with it is no wonder that the console has been so successful. For that reason, it is exciting to know that the PlayStation 4 will be relevant at least for a couple more years if Sony follows through on this plan (if it even has any option not to do so).

The PlayStation 5 will be available in select countries on November 12, 2020 and globally on November 19. Pre-orders are available now.

oh shit, if God of War gets announced for PS4, people will lose their shit :p

Realistically it makes sense and I don't think Sony want to abandon the 110+ million unit sell base even though they have said that they 'believe in generations'.

I wouldn't mind Horizon 2 and Ragnarok on PS4, though all this still seems speculative and confusing. Some exclusives are apparently PS5 only, like Demon's Souls and maybe Rachet? But if I'm playing them on PS4, the only concern I would have is load times (which can be helped by an external SSD perhaps).

More first party games may or may not come to the PS4 as well, but that Jim Ryan statement is the most vague, politically correct statement he could have given when asked about continued support for the 100 million unit selling console.

They're never gonna say that they're going to completely abandon it cold turkey immediately after Nov 12th.

Yup, the statement is just reassuring the PS4 user base but with what exactly? Why can't they just issue a press release and make it clear that all exclusives till 2022 will release on PS4 as well? I think it's because they are still thinking about how to go about it, perhaps looking for some compromise between the existing user base on PS4 and the next-gen players on PS5. This could mean that some exclusives might make it to PS4 but others won't. Things aren't clear because this was clearly not part of the next-gen plan and now they are improvising. Remains to be seen how it all works out.

Didn't know DS4 had this issue. Sometimes, the trigger buttons go crazy on mine after I've dropped it a bajillion times over 4 years. Still works great though. As for DualSense, it's all a prophecy for now so let's see when there's some evidence.

The upgrades faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar outweigh the possibility of drift issues which seem to be rare. If they were bad, it would be a much bigger issue ala the drift issue Switch Joycons have. That shit has led to class action lawsuits.

Stick drift issue that plague ds4 and xbox one controller is not going anywhere Bois

Dualshock 4 is the least affected controller. The biggest culprits are the Switch Joy-cons followed by the Xbox One controller. There are lawsuits filed against both.

That sucks. I hope the frequency of this issue is considerably less with the Dualsense.

Have you tried cleaning the contact points with WD40?
Opening and taking it out is very risky, I don't recommend doing it. I did managed to fix the drift issue issue somewhat ( now the stick twitches a bit ) but I killed my battery so it only works plugged in lol
