A majority of games map X and Circle based on their own region independent of the console, but there are some that use the console's region. OS navigation is also tied to the console region.

Hopefully, this may not be the case with PS5. We'll know for sure soon after the console's launch in the Asian markets i.e. Nov 19.

Asian and Japanese PS4s have the default X button action mapped to Circle. Not sure if that'll be the case with PS5 as well, but hopefully there are some accessibility settings available to fix this.

You can remap every button on the PS4 OS level settings, don't see any reason why it also won't let you do the same on the PS5. This shouldn't be an issue.

The problem with the OS workaround is that it doesn't just alter the button layout for prompts (Ok/Quit) but also the actual in-game controls. Ideally, what one needs is a way to switch X and Circle functionality only for menu prompts etc.

Yes, I much prefer matt finish on consoles myself, glossy (and the rest of it is white on top of it) means it will be a fingerprint and dust magnet unless taken care of very thoroughly.

PS5's available storage is 660.7GB (OS is 104 GB, Astro's Playroom is 2.4GB).

Works for me. Should be able to keep 7-10 games installed, with the rest archived to a portable drive.
