Silent pc

Hey guys,

So i have a Core i5 based pc that i use to make music. It's in a Asus casing with two 80mm fans in the back. The power supply is CM 500W.

Now this pc makes a frightful amount of noise, i think it's mostly the cheap chinese fans and maybe the PSU that is to blame for this.

So, my question is what can i do to make my pc silent - or as quiet as possible. If i get one of those fancy (CM/thermaltake/whatever brand i'm missing) casings with built in fans, will they make less noise than my current setup? I'm looking at the thermaltake v3, it looks nice and it says that the 120mm fan is 'silent'.

Otherwise is it possible to get some noiseless 80mm fans for my current casing? Thanks for the help.

Cheap 80mm fans are usually noisy. Also your CPU heatsink and GPU might be to blame too. On my PC the only thing I can hear is the mechanical humm from different parts, THATS how silent it is. Make sure in the bios your cpu fan speed it set to be dynamic according to temps and loads. Its usually set to the maximum possible. What GPU are you running?

GPU is a 7200GS, i think it's fanless so it's not the culprit. I don't think it's the cpu cooler either though i'll check my bios settings. What setup are you running?

IT Wud b better if u post pic of ur current casing ... n sys ... 80mm fans r mostly runing at plus of 1800rpm n they r mostly noisy ... so if ur casing can house a 120mm or 140mm then put them ... or simply do a 5v or 7v mod to ur current fans ... a 5v mod wil reduce rpm of fan but wil affect airflow hence rise in casing temp ... so try these things i hope u get a SILENT SYS ...
