Set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again. • First-Person Action – Players will assume the role of Ethan Winters and experience every up-close battle and terrifying pursuit through a first-person perspective. • Familiar Faces and New Foes – Chris Redfield has typically been a hero in the Resident Evil series, but his appearance in Resident Evil Village seemingly shrouds him in sinister motives. A host of new adversaries inhabiting the village will relentlessly hunt Ethan and hinder his every move as he attempts to make sense of the new nightmare he finds himself in.

Would be interesting to see how big of a difference there is this time around between Capcom's "intent and purpose" and actual consumption of VRAM. Not based on the in-game menu though, as it was broken in previous games, much like some noob's here understanding of the matter lol

One curiosity about the PC version concerns the demo's VRAM meter, which is designed to offer up an idea of the amount of memory required to run the game at your current settings. At 4K resolution, this can hit a giddy 15GB (!), but in the here and now at least, I suspect that this may be inaccurate. The demo doesn't exactly run well at 4K on a GTX 1060 6GB (20-30fps at max settings) but there's none of the stutter associated with texture swapping. Having tested 6GB, 8GB and 11GB graphics cards, the game seems to stream in assets according to how much VRAM is available, topping out at around 9.5GB on an RTX 2080 Ti.

The pot calling the kettle black 🤣

This is also coming to current gen (PS4/XBO) so it makes sense the requirements seem so reasonable.
Yeah, I wouldn't expect this to challenge an RTX 3070's available memory. It's going to run on base last-gen consoles, after all.

$1000 6900XT for 4K60 is reasonable?

AMD RT requirements seem unreasonably high compared to Nvidia equivalent they have listed. Highly unlikely that the PS5/XSX can do native 4K60 with RT.

Highly lolikely. The PS5/Series X versions won't be running with PC equivalent RT reflection settings anyway.

The Maiden demo ran at a reasonably solid 60fps (5th percentile frame rate is 55fps), with CBR 4K (native res unknown, but probably closer to native 4k). Though, this doesn't take outdoor areas into account, so the final performance remains to be seen.

CBR, not full RT effects, dropping frames during in-door segments (reasonabLOLy 60fps). PS4/XBO title challenging next-gen consoles.... yikes!!

I'm not that familiar with AMD hierarchy but for a 2021 game pushing 1080p/60 FPS as the minimum, a 1050Ti seems fairly reasonable. I have to imagine if this was a next-gen only game, the minimum would have been higher for 1080p/60.

It's not only using RT for reflections, but also forsome diffuse light bounces as well, just like DMC 5:Special Console only Edition.

Hmm I thought they may have opted to not enable RT diffuse lighting on the PS5/Series X versions of RE Village, since DMC 5: SE had to run at 1080p in order to deliver a mostly stable 60fps w/ RT reflections and diffuse lighting. But seeing as how the Maiden demo has better IQ, they've probably made improvements in this regard.

1050 Ti is comparable to a PS4 Pro, where the game will be targeting 60fps, so that makes sense. However, base consoles won't be able to do 1080p60 if RE2/3 remakes are anything to go by.

RT requirements don't paint a good picture for RDNA2.

Well ... technically Village is also a cross gen game so there's no dedicated next-gen version either :p

But I get what you mean. This reeks of a cheap budget attempt at an E-Sports game. Not sure why Capcom keeps doing this. This is a third Online focused game in a row they've tried ramming down our throats.

Ok played my first round of the beta, third place on the first go. Not bad.

But holy shit this plays so bad, turning the analog stick left or right makes the player run half circles.

Also aiming is so floaty.

Some new gameplay bits.

Ethan getting attacked by a Lycan.
Ethan using a sniper while those Lycans devouring on dead bodies.

Game seems to have an amazing atmosphere even tho we've seen so little of it.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
