One week after surpassing one million concurrent users on Steam, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has now set the all-time record for concurrent players.

The game — which, again, is in early access — peaked at 1,348374 concurrent users today, displacing Valve-published
Dota 2
for the top figure all time.

The old record was 1,291,328 users on Dota 2 playing the game in March 2016, according to Steam Charts. Last week PUBG breached the one million mark, more than 25 percent better than Dota 2 at 745,000 at the same time.

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has already sold more than 10 million copies. It remains to be seen what, if anything, the full release could add to the player base when that happens for PC at the end of the year and Xbox One next year.

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds will launch on Xbox One in December

PUBG will join Xbox’s early access program

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One on Dec. 12, Microsoft and developer Bluehole announced today. The smash hit battle royale game will be released in December in early access form as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Preview program.
“We’re approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that we’ve taken with the game on PC,” Chang Han Kim, CEO of PUBG Corp., said in a post on the Xbox website. “As a result, the ultimate battle royale experience that fans play on Xbox One will be slightly different than what players know today on PC.”
The Xbox One release of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is described as a “console launch exclusive,” meaning the game will likely come to other console platforms in the future.
Bluehole said it also plans to launch the 1.0 version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on PC sometime in late December. Kim explained that the console and PC versions will be developed on separate roadmaps, with the intention to align them someday.
“Both versions are being developed at the same time, but they both have their own separate roadmaps,” Kim said. “Various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible. Feedback as you know has been critical to the game’s success, so beginning December 12 we want to hear from Xbox fans on what they think about PUBG and how we can make the best version of the game possible.”
The Xbox One version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds will get three limited edition cosmetic packs — the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack — that will be exclusive to Xbox players. Kim noted that there are “no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version” and that the cosmetic add-ons will be the only items players can purchase during PUBG’s preview period. Pricing for the cosmetic packs was not announced. Check out those new cosmetics in the gallery below.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds continues to be a big hit on PC, with more than 2.2 million concurrent players today on Steam. For more on the game, read Polygon’s cover story about PUBG and its creator, Brendan “Playerunknown” Greene.

PUBG Desert Map

When we first heard about the forthcoming PUBG desert map, we were concerned it would be too open and barren to support the variety of playstyles that makes PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds such a refreshing multiplayer game. While far from complete - large areas of the map are completely blank or in need of optimisation - the new PUBG desert map will be 8x8km in size, and feature multiple urban spaces and hilly areas that should serve as ideal hunting grounds for snipers and players who are fond of ambushes.

Datamining, which was carried out in September, has revealed what appears to be a detailed version of the upcoming PUBG desert map, including town names, geographical features, and hints at key locations. You can see the map below, but if it is a closer look you are after then here is a larger, high-res version too. While this image comes with a number of sizeable caveats - it is the result of datamining and is thus subject to sweeping changes - it does provide us with some clues as to what types of locales we will be scrapping in when the new PUBG map arrives.

For starters, there is a massive river hugging the south-east corner of the map, so this will not be a completely arid slog. Instead, craters are the major assets breaking up this massive expanse of land - you can see two massive craters on the map, one of which is the size of a major town. Aside from major settlements, there are also a few notable spots like Prison in the south-west corner, Cartel Mansion in the middle, and Military Base in the north-east. The map also features a massive town called Hard Luck, which is roughly four times larger than Erangel’s well-known Pochinki settlement.

PC Gamer
went hands-on with the new map and reported coming across massive craters with towns in them and a still-in-development military base, which are features that are also present in the datamined map.

PUBG desert map release date

Sadly, there is no firm release date for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds desert map. However, we do have a (very) rough idea of when we can expect the new PUBG map to arrive. For starters, the development team have stated that there will be no major content drops for PUBG until the game is finished, apart from the highly anticipated vaulting update. With PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds due out in full by the end of 2017, our guess for a PUBG desert map release date would be at least a couple of months after that, so Q1 2018 at the very earliest.

Apart from the optimization issues, this game is just amazing and has a lot of potential. I hope the optimization issues and bugs will be sorted out till the final release.

[h=1]PUBG is heading to mobile[/h]

[h=2]Get that chicken dinner to go[/h]

A mobile version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is in development, Tencent announced this week. The mega-publisher is working with developer Bluehole to port the Windows PC hit to smartphones for Chinese audiences.
Tencent promises a similar PUBG experience on mobile as on PC, although it remains to be seen how the company will translate the shooter to a smaller screen. (There are plenty of battle royale-style games already on mobile that may give fans an idea of what to expect, at least.)
The game is currently planned to launch in China first, although Tencent neither gave a release date nor detailed plans to expand to other markets. But as the company pointed out in its (Chinese-language) press release, PUBG has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide — so we’d expect a Western release at some point.
Tencent is one of the biggest publisher in the industry, holding stock in a number of console and mobile games makers. The company recently tied up the distribution rights toPUBG in China, where it will bring the game to players for the first time. But local players should expect a slightly altered version of the game; Tencent said it would ensure thatPUBG reflects “socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules.”
More details on the mobile version are promised “in the near future.”

This game seems to very intriguing. Plus the hype is almost unreal. I don't have a gaming PC but it is coming to Xbox preview for 30 bucks. Would you guys recommend buying it or should I wait for the final release version?
