Guys, from the options given in the first post
How would you rank them in Lahore?
Need suggestions for a new connection
BrainNET
StormFiber - Optix (A tie!)
FiberLink
Wateen (apparently they suck at peak hours)

Though frazgta would be able to give you a better idea since he lives in Lahore.

For Karachi, I've got Optix and Stormfiber on a wait list until they can deploy in my area (PECHS Block 2). I've already tried Wateen 20mbit, but it sucks during peak periods, so it's not worth paying 16k/month for 2mbit during the day and 20mbit for 2 hours during the night.

I'm in touch with Fiberlink and will give their 100mbit a shot. I've asked them for an estimate deployment time, let's see what they get back to me with.

Personally, I hope Optix deploys asap, as they appear to be the only decent one being that they're backed by Multinet.

All network devices come with the standard 4 ethernet ports nowadays.

I have a WiFi ONT (From PTCL, not SF), and it has 4 Ethernet ports.
What's the cost for the service you get from PTCL?
Do they charge for the device( hardware)? if yes, what's cost for you?

6000 monthly for 20 Mbps Broadband.

The ONT was provided by them and since it's legally not mine, I can't keep it and if I ever terminate the connection, they'll take it back.

Why you choose PTCL instead of stormfiber? for 20Mbps service, SF only 2800/month, they charge 12000 device. But it will be better than PTCL if you use the service more than 4 months.

I'll PM it to you after I'm back from school at around 3 PM today.

Is there only Islamabad / Rawalpindi/Karachi / Lahore FTTH avaliable in PK?

How about other cities?
Islamabad
Rawalpindi
Lahore
Karachi
Multan

These are cities where it's available to residents and individuals. I'm sure it's available in other cities too but only for commercial use.

I see Wateen telecom service seems all include CATV. But it seems no good reputation for the service. Do you know why? What brand device do they use, Huawei?

They do offer TV and I assume its reliability will be the same as their internet.

Their devices for GPON and HFC will differ so I can't say for sure.

Iv had sf for more than 3 months now without any issues. Pings have been amazing. Though since the past few days pings on all servers are extremely high.
Called them up today, and found out that its a backend issue from transworld. Apparently transworld servers are having some issue only with latency. Everyone having this issue l pls make sure you call sf several times so that there is enough noise for them to really get on transworld case. Hoping transworld is not like ptcl in these matters.

Just the past few days pings are high. Everything else is great. Yeah the Huawei
What's your feeling to the Huawei 4port+wifi ONT?
I think 4port is too much for homes, 1port is enough for most homes. 2port is better for soho or family have more than 1 computer.

and 4port+wifi may be more cost than (1port+ 150M wifi router: Fiberlink offer this office).

Do you like service 1port+wifi router? In my idea wifi router can be choose by our users, so that we can buy 300Mpbs or more rate wifi router.
What do you think?

What difference does it make?

1 Port+150M routers/ONTs may cost less, but for high speed packages, they are a limitation. Not to mention, the vendor for the ONT equipment installed at your house has to match the same vendor whose equipment is used at the ISPs office, so we don't have much of a choice when it comes to buying ONTs.

Most users who know their way around this DO buy their own routers to use WiFi rather than the built-in WiFi Radio in the ONT.
