Why don't you get rid of the 2 x 2GB RAM and get 2 4 x 4GB or 8 x 8GB. If you can easily afford a GTX770, I don't think 8 or 16GB RAM right now would be a problem for you. i7-3930 would be an overkill but really great in the long run. I don't think you'd regret spending so much cash on that.
A PS4 at launch would be £349.99 I think I can squeeze 2 x 8GB sticks into the budged with a slightly used gtx 770 and still have money left.. and later on maybe around the end of 2014 I won't have to buy more ram, I can then just get a motherboard and a good priced processor and another gtx 770 to sli.

Now i've got two questions, would a 3930k be a good upgrade in a year? as games might be well optimized to use more than four cores.. what im worried about is that my lga 2011 board might be useless after 3930k as I don't know if they'll be making any more processors for it.

Second confusion is that about those AMD graphic cards you guys mentioned.. can I crossfire by adding another one in the future? would they have any driver issues with intel cpu?
also, I might be going for 3d vision with the next year upgrade.. and i've heard the AMD 3d thingy is not as well optimized and works with less games and have problems etc.. would it be worth sticking with nvidia for 3d vision later? I couldn't see a big price/performance ratio difference if you pick good value cards from nvidia for example 7970 and 770 are both about the same price here and about the same performance.

although I will look into this 290x thingy.

Hey there,i dont think so there is negligible difference

Core i3 3rd gen is compared is with i5 760

i3 outperformed i5 1st gen in any aspect

Intel Core i5 750 vs i3 3220

I5 3rd gen would be quite faster then i5 1st gen
I disagree. This should clarify about how the 1st gen manages to hold its own quite comfortably. The differences are minor, at best. While there may be a substantial upgrade going from 1st gen to 2nd gen, the jump from 2nd gen to either 3rd or 4th is hardly an improvement.

Ok thanks for your opinion
But

You are comparing i5 with i3 that is quad vs dual channel respectively .

Compare quad with quad .

See the comparison yourself on the link given by you brother

http://anandtech.com/bench/product/702?vs=109

You can see its basic i5 3rd gen. processor not high class or K class but its still double the power almost

I already said this in my previous post

Yup I saw that bro ..

CPU is not the only thing which makes PC faster

Third or Fourth gen. motherboard are equipped with better chip set and of course due to nanotechnology and turbo boost and a lot more things which latest gen. more compatible and stable

I hope you got my point

Well if one is on 2nd gen. he does not need to upgrade .specially if one has i5 2nd gen. it is enough

And that was exactly my point. I understood what you meant perfectly.

^^umm hey guys.. my i5 is first gen though lol..
Let me tell you that haswell is not an overclocker's chip. In fact, its quite the opposite. The 1st & 2nd Gen core series processors are one hell of overclocker chips though. You have two choices, either make the jump and be forced to upgrade later, when Intel/AMD releases a killer processor sometime in future, or hold out like I'm doing and wait for the right moment to make the jump. The 1st Gen Core series processors are no slouch by any means. I mean I've yet to experience a game which my i5 couldn't handle (apart from GPU standpoint). Don't do much encoding or other stuff which most guys do, but my everyday tasks are a breeze to handle on it.

You should go for PC.

Don't get the 780 just yet, why not get the R9 280x or the 290x? They might be better choices.

An overclocked i5 with a 780 will not become outdated for a long time. You are set for at LEAST 5 6 years. AT LEAST.

Well your situation is kinda tricky. Its hard to recommend one over the other.

Why not instead of buying an expensive GTX 780, settle for something far less cheaper but still pretty strong like a GTX 660ti etc, save the remaining cash and gather some more to buy a PS4 too later on.
You can enjoy both worlds this way. FPS and strategy games on PC and exclusives on PS4.

Edit:
If you are not interested in exclusives, then PC all the way.
