Adding these by default would be the first step in the right direction. Current design is essentially two decades old and third party controllers offer better functionality than default Dualshock controllers.
Let's hope there are more uses of the touch pad outside of a glorified Map button.
For the few games which made good usage of it, the touch pad can function as a pretty good multi-faceted access menu. Surprisingly Witcher 3 is one of the better uses and everyone's favorite Days Gone also with different gestures on the touch pad giving quick access to different sub-menus.
i dont usually agree but when i do it's regarding the dualshock 4's useless touchpad oh yes. USELESS even more so than the vita. apart for few games which utilized the gimmick at launch there was no other game which did.it was just another button type thing.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will get access to two very different games in January: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator. Both PlayStation 4 games will be available as part of PlayStation Plus starting Tuesday, Jan. 7. The Nathan Drake Collection, developed by Bluepoint Games, includes three PlayStation 3 titles originally developed by Naughty Dog: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The collection features three single-player campaigns and improved visuals for PS4. Developer Double Eleven’s Goat Simulator is about controlling a goat and causing destruction. The 2015 game is, according to its developer, “all about causing as much destruction as you possibly can as a goat. It has been compared to an old-school skating game, except instead of being a skater, you’re a goat, and instead of doing tricks, you wreck stuff. Destroy things with style and you’ll earn even more points!” Both Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator will be available to download via PS Plus through Feb. 3. December 2019’s PlayStation Plus games — Respawn Entertainment’s first-person shooter Titanfall 2 and Milestone’s motorcycle racing game Monster Energy Supercross — The Official Videogame — are available to download through Jan. 6.
