[h=2]Journey to the land of BBQ to hang with ’Merican Yo-Kai[/h]




This week’s Nintendo eShop has a lot that’s new for Switch owners, and a little something for 3DS owners — namely, Yo-Kai Watch 3.
Yo-Kai Watch 3 from developer Level-5 sends players to the country of BBQ (aka these United States of America), where they’ll encounter new ’Merican Yo-Kai, including spirits that take the form of anthropomorphized ears of corn, baseballs, hamburgers, slices of bacon, chicken nuggets, and more. Players can experience parallel storylines set in the city of St. Peanutsburg and Springdale, where they’ll meet more than 600 Yo-Kai.
On Nintendo Switch, players will get access to side-scrolling fairy tale adventure The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince, cyberpunk detective thriller Observer, and feel-good first-person shooter Away: Journey to the Unexpected.

[h=2]Tetris! Final Fantasy![/h]




Nintendo dumped a bunch of surprise news yesterday during its first Nintendo Direct presentation of the year. Both a totally new Tetris game and a Final Fantasy classic launched on the Nintendo Switch eShop following the streamed event, big-enough headliners to make this a good week for the console.
Tetris 99 is a free downloadable game that’s exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. It’s what folks call a battle royale-like version of the classic puzzle game, pitting 99 players against each other to clear their Tetris boards. If it sounds exhausting and anxiety-inducing, hey, it is!
Final Fantasy 9 also launched after the Nintendo Direct, making it the first remastered game in the RPG franchise to hit Switch. Next up are Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10-2, followed byFinal Fantasy 7 later this spring.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch Online’s collection of NES games grew by two, with Kirby’s Adventure (yay!) and Super Mario Bros. 2(an acquired taste according to me and apparently no one else) are on the service now.

[h=1]Trials Rising stands apart in quiet Nintendo eShop update[/h]

[h=2]February is ending with a real whimper[/h]




I’ll cut to the chase: Nintendo eShop is looking barren this week. There are a few indies that may sound familiar — Yume Nikki, anyone? — but otherwise, Nintendo’s only big sells are Ubisoft’s Trials Rising and a Pokémon: Let’s Go! demo.
Rising is the first Trials game to make it to a Nintendo console, an impressive feat for Ubisoft’s nearly 20-year-old multiplayer racing series. This is also the first new Trials game since 2014’s Trials Fusion, a game Polygon found to be a disappointing step backward. Hopefully, Trials Rising is a more successful return to form for hardcore fans of its physics-based biking.
Otherwise? Pokémon: Let’s Go! has an eShop demo now, three months after launch, should you be a very curious, very patient Pokémon newbie. (There’s also a demo for Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn out on 3DS eShop.) And that’s ... sort of it.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop brings Deltarune, Ice Climbers to Switch[/h]

[h=2]Weekly eShop update is crowded with indie gems and old-school classics[/h]



Nintendo Switch owners enter the world of Deltarune — the spinoff-sequel from the creator of Undertale — for free today as part of this week’s eShop update. Chapter one of Deltarune, which first hit PC last October, will be available on Friday, March 1.
Switch owners can also experience the violent, jazzy action of Ape Out, which lets you control an ape escaping from its captors, turning them and the game world into a gory Jackson Pollock painting. Ape Out is out today.
Out tomorrow is the decidedly less violent Treasure Stack, a competitive puzzle game for up to four players where you stack colored treasure chests. It’s part puzzle game, part platformer.
A trio of old-school arcade games is also coming to the Switch eShop this week: SNK’s The King of Fighters 2003, the Arcade Archives version of Nintendo’s Ice Climber, and Data East shoot ’em up Super Real Darwin. Check out the rest of the lineup below:

It’s the end of winter here in the United States, but Nintendo has arrived with a bumper crop of new games. Today’s Nintendo eShop update includes includes a heaping helping of titles for the Switch, as well as one big-name game for fans of their handheld system.
The biggest addition by far is Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, available on Nintendo 3DS. It’s the latest version of the game originally released on Nintendo Wii in 2010, and later on Wii U in 2016. A new “Devilish Mode” has been added to the side scroller, making it just a little bit more difficult. It also includes new minigames featuring Meta Knight and King Dedede. The game will be available March 8.
Also on the menu is the critically acclaimed puzzle game Baba Is You for the Nintendo Switch, available March 13. The deceptively simple game looks like it could be a direct port of a DOS classic, but the metagame shines. Expect to need both good timing and clever turns of phrase to make it out alive.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update delivers Final Fantasy 7 and Unravel 2[/h]

The highly anticipated port of Final Fantasy 7 is finally making its way to the Nintendo eShop this week, after last year’s Nintendo Direct announcement that several games in Square Enix’s RPG series would arrive to the Switch (though Final Fantasy 8 was snubbed yet again.) Final Fantasy 7 will be available to download on March 26.
Unravel 2, the adorable sequel to 2016’s Unravel, is coming to Switch on Friday, March 20. This time around there are two Yarnys to control — in either single player or co-op mode — with new, more complicated puzzles to solve.
Also joining the lineup is Blaster Master Zero 2, which was both revealed and released on March 21, in a surprise announcement during a Nindies Showcase. The sequel to 2017’s reboot of the Blaster Master franchise appears to pick up where the previous game left off, with protagonist Jason exploring outer space after defending Earth in Blaster Master Zero.

This week on the Nintendo eShop, we direct the jury’s attention to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy ($29.99). The high definition anthology of the crusading barrister’s first three adventures launched in Japan at the end of February, and now comes west on April 9.
The trilogy comprises Ace Attorney(originally launched 2001 on DS), Justice For All (2002)and Trials and Tribulations (2004). These three have been rounded up before, in anthologies for mobile platforms and Nintendo 3DS. This collection will include high resolution artwork and an updated user interface. (It’s also available for Xbox One, Windows PC and PlayStation 4.)
The week’s other highlight is the portmantastic Mechstermination Force ($11.99, pictured below) a platforming boss rush in which players lead a team trying to rid the earth of an enormous robot menace.

[h=1]Shakedown: Hawaii, new Puyo Puyo arrive on Nintendo eShop in the next week[/h]

Nintendo is adding another massive collection of new games to the eShop over the next week. The selection runs the gamut from addictive puzzle games to retro action-platformers to high-concept narrative adventures.
First up is Shakedown: Hawaii, which will arrive on the Nintendo eShop for Switch on May 7. The successor to Retro City Rampage, the action takes place three decades after the original. In our early hands-on time with the game, Polygon called it “mesmerizing.” You can watch about a half-hour of gameplay on our YouTube channel.
Puyo Puyo Championsalso arrives on May 7. The competitive puzzle game looks to be in fine form. Announced as Puyo Puyo eSports in Japan last September, Champions features the same ruleset as Puyo Puyo 2 and Puyo Puyo Fever. It includes an eight-player tournament mode and local multiplayer battles. The game will also arrive the same day on PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Steam, and Xbox One.

[h=1]New to the Nintendo eShop this week: Saints’ Row the Third and Sniper Elite V2[/h]

The next week for Nintendo’s eShop will deliver a couple dozen more games, starting withSaints Row: The Third — The Full Package, which is the first Saints Row to release on a Nintendo platform.
The Full Package updates the now eight-year-old game with a set of new features for the Switch, as well as all of the original game’s add-on content. That’s available beginning tomorrow, May 10.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, one of two Sniper Elites getting the Switch treatment, alsoarrives on May 14. 2014’s Sniper Elite 3is also set to launch on Switch sometime later this year.
Additionally, three NES classics will be added to the library available to Nintendo SwitchOnline subscribers: Clu Clu Land, Donkey Kong, Jr., and Vs. Excitebike, which has features different from the more familiar Excitebike counterpart.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update brings Slay the Spire to Switch[/h]

Try your hand(s) at the deck-building roguelite RPG


Slay the Spire, the genre-bending roguelite/deck-builder, highlights this week’s update to the Nintendo eShop. Consider us enthused; Slay the Spire was a Polygon-recommended titlewhen it launched on PC back in February. Simple to pick up and hard to master, the game bucks conventional wisdom and prioritizes deck-building fundamentals to deliver a tight and very challenging run to the top.
Mega Crit and Humble Bundle’s game is $24.99 and available right now. Be prepared to face a lot of failure, and to try unorthodox or counterintuitive things to overcome the next battle. Combat in Slay the Spire resembles a traditional turn-based RPG, with players drawing cards for their characters from a pool dedicated to them. Keeping one’s deck lean and pared down to essentials is a must. For more, check out our beginner’s guide.
Other highlights include Phantom Doctrine, a Cold War spy thriller whose gameplay reminded us of XCOM. Creativeforge Games did the same thing in an old west setting with 2015’s Hard West, and that launched for the eShop back in March. And there’s also Battle Worlds: Kronos, a crowdfunded, turn-based strategy game which launched on PC in 2013

Nintendo fans who like DIY projects have a lot to look forward to this week in the Nintendo Switch eShop update. Both Super Mario Maker 2, Nintendo’s platformer creation game, and a new demo for Dragon Quest Builders 2, the Minecraft-inspired Dragon Quest role-playing game, will be available for download this week. (Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be released in full on July 12.)
The Switch eShop has plenty of throwback games too, including a pair of Sega Ages re-releases — arcade driving game Virtua Racing and arcade platformer Wonder Boy: Monster Land — and the original Devil May Cry.

Plus the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Torchlight 2



We may have found Astral Chain’s premise exhausting to describe, but PlatinumGames and Nintendo clearly have a winner here. It leads the roundup of the Nintendo eShop’s Labor Day weekend offerings.
In Astral Chain, you’re a … cop who is fighting a … an extradimensional invasion using … um, “viral data demons” that fight Pokémon style against the … bad guys. It’s out there, but PlatinumGames’ well balanced design and the studio’s penchant for big set pieces make it accessible and enjoyable, according to our review.
Also on deck this week: the Spyro Reignited Trilogy,comprising of the first three games in Insomniac’s series for the original PlayStation. (The “reignition” is because they’re redone in high definition.) Also Torchlight 2, Runic Games’ dungeon-crawler, is making its console debut (alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), seven years after it launched on PC.

Before your Switch becomes an Animal Crossing: New Horizons machine next month, Nintendo has more games for you to play this February. Here are this week’s Nintendo eShop highlights.
The Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition is now available, with the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection coming to Switch on Feb. 25. Thursday’s eShop update also added four retro games to the Nintendo Switch Online’s NES and SNES emulator.
The Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition revamps the classic game, with new modes and a more modern weapon swapping system.
The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection comes with Mega Man Zero 1, 2, 3, and 4. It also features Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent from the Nintendo DS era.
For retro fans, Nintendo Switch Online now offers Shadow of the Ninja and Eliminator Boat Duel for its NES emulator. SNES fans also have access to Pop’n TwinBee and Smash Tennis.
