[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop update adds a tiny, hidden highlight[/h]

[h=2]Nintendo Switch doesn’t get much, but this old indie is worth checking out[/h]

At first, this week’s Nintendo Switch eShop update looks like one of the emptiest ever. A Nintendo Switch port of Don’t Starve, an eerie, artsy survival game from 2013, seemingly leads a pack of relative unknowns. Buried within the list, however, is a lovely game that’s perfectly pocket-sized, and one you may have missed after it first launched.
Burly Men at Sea, out now on Switch, may sound like a bro-y action game based on its title. It’s far from it: The game is a mixture of a point-and-click adventure and a visual novel, according to developer Brain&Brain. In Burly Men at Sea, three fishermen star in a folktale that’s narrated and sculpted by the player. There are multiple storylines to craft (which often takes as little as 10 minutes), each one leading the Brothers Beard through a creature-filled Scandinavia.
Time Magazine named it one of the best games of 2016, in large part due to its wonderful aesthetic design. Burly Men at Sea is instantly recognizable, thanks to its distinct color palette and simple illustrations.
Burly Men at Sea is available on other consoles too; it’s out on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. But Nintendo Switch seems like the perfect fit for this game, which first launched on iOS and Android. We need more short-and-sweet games like this on Switch, and now we have one.
Here’s the full list of new games on Nintendo Switch eShop this week:

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop update adds South Park: The Fractured But Whole[/h]

[h=2]Here’s what coming to Nintendo’s eShop this week[/h]

There’s only one high-profile title on this week’s Nintendo eShop update, but it’s certainly one that role-playing fans have been looking forward to. South Park: The Fractured But Wholeis now available, along with many other smaller titles for Nintendo Switch and 3DS.
The Fractured But Whole is a full-price title, coming in at $59.99. This is the so-called “standard edition” of the game, which was first released last year, and won’t include any of the subsequent downloadable content that has been released so far. It hits the eShop on April 24.
If you’re looking for more raunchy content on the Switch, infamous love shooter Gal Gun 2 is coming to Nintendo’s console this week. It’s also out April 24. For a tamer shooter,Wild Guns Reloaded is now live on the Switch eShop.
Here’s a full list of the additional titles, including those available today and later this month:

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop gets beloved music studio — but with some key changes[/h]

[h=2]Korg Gadget headlines this week’s update, but it’s not the production app you might want[/h]

This week’s Nintendo Switch eShop new games update isn’t thin so much as it’s lacking a big-name, marquee addition.
There’s Another Lost Phone: Laura’s Story for the story-heavy, mobile port lovers; Hello Kitty Kruisers is out on Switch to make Sanrio fans’ and rare Wii U game collectors’ lives a little easier; and Jotun: Valhalla Edition comes to the console and brings Norse mythological action with it. But it’s aspiring DJs who may have the most to be excited about this week — although with some potential dealbreakers attached.
Korg Gadget for Nintendo Switch is a port of the popular music production software that’s developed and published by the electronic hardware maker. Think of it like Garage Band: It’s a studio that lets you play several different instrument sounds using different virtual synthesizers, or “gadgets.” Easy-to-read squares replace traditional notation, making this far more accessible to anyone who can’t play the actual instruments they’re working with. Exclusive to the Switch version is multiplayer music creation and Joy-Con support, which allows you to move the controllers around to change the tone or pitch accordingly.
All of this sounds like an inventive rhythm game for Switch mixed with a useful creation tool. But longtime KORG Gadget users are already disappointed with what they see as a limited console release. Unlike Korg Gadget on Mac and iOS, the Switch version supports neither MIDI instruments nor natively exporting your creations online.
“When you want to use songs externally, please record the audio from either the headphone output in the body of the Nintendo Switch, or from HDMI audio output,” Korg explained on its support page for the game.
Replies to this answer suggest that this is an “unacceptable omission,” as exporting creations is a key feature of Korg Gadget’s other versions. Based on the Switch game’s trailer below, it seems as though this iteration isn’t quite meant to be a handy production tool. Instead, it’s more of ... well, a game.

nd here are the rest of the games out on Switch eShop this week.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update brings back some old favorites[/h]

[h=2]Donkey Kong, Shantae and Death Road to Canada find new life on Switch this week[/h]

Nintendo kicks off May with a slate of games from well-known franchises launching on the Switch eShop, including a famous one of its own. Perhaps the most interesting new game on the release schedule this week, however, has a much more obscure name attached to it — but a backstory that involves a recent, major tragedy abroad.
Death Road to Canada has found a small but loving fanbase since it launched on Steam in 2016. Rocketcat Games’ roguelike tasks players with running over zombies with their car as they race through the apocalypse. Every level is procedurally generated, and every character is pixelated cuteness, including the zombies.
Although it communicates the game’s jokey premise, Death Road to Canada is a title that began to look tone-deaf following a mass murder in Toronto last month, particularly since the game was originally set to launch the same week.
The publisher said it would announce a new release date in the coming weeks. Today, Ukiyo revealed on Twitter that Death Road to Canada would come to Nintendo Switch (and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) May 8, alongside a 20 percent launch discount.
This series of events makes the niche title stand out that much more — especially when there are stalwarts like Donkey Kong (with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze) and Shantae (Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition) to compete with. Both are acclaimed ports of Wii U titles that you may have missed the first time around, withTropical Freeze in particular benefitting from the higher powered console.
And now, below is the full list of games coming to Nintendo Switch eShop through May 9:

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop’s most exciting new game has a very weird name[/h]
[h=2]Immortal Redneck is all about gunning through Egypt, not heading down south[/h]

There are a few games that stand out in this week’s Nintendo Switch eShop update, and not because of our familiarity with them — but because they have some seriously weird names. Between Immortal Redneck, Suicide Guy and Three Fourths Home, eShop has some eye-catchingly titled new games in its library.
The most anticipated of these is Immortal Redneck, a game that plays nothing like it sounds. First released on Windows PC back in 2017, Immortal Redneck is referred to as an “old school FPS” by its developer, so expect the kind of first-person action popularized by games like Doom and Quake. There’s also procedurally generated dungeons and the fear of permanent death ... oh, and the whole thing takes place in Egypt, by the way.

None of this sounds like the kind of game that would star a redneck, let alone an immortal one. But, yep, that’s the player character in this game — a Southerner who comes back to life ready to shoot up those pyramids. From the sounds of the Steam reviews for the PC version, that redneck is a funny, charming lead; the writing helps the whole game take on a more lighthearted tone than anyone would expect, according to fans of the original release.
Now that it’s on Switch — with a nice icon and everything! — it sounds like players are excited to have another arcade-y shooter, like Immortal Redneck, available on the go.
Here’s the full list of what’s out on Switch this week:

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop update brings plenty of Mega Man, Zelda and more[/h]
[h=2]Some big, familiar names headline this update — and some smaller ones too[/h]

There’s always something interesting to be found in those weekly Nintendo eShop updates. But sometimes, you don’t have to go look too deep to pull out the gems: We’ve got Nintendo Switch games from The Legend of Zelda and Mega Man out this week, alongside some other names we know.
First up is Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, which refines the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS game for Switch. What that means is it has all previous downloadable content already available, as well as nicer graphics and some other quality of life changes.
Mega Man arrives on Switch on May 22, with both Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. You may have already played these games on the plethora of other consoles they’re available on, but if you’re strictly a Nintendo console owner, these releases are a big deal. The collections are composed of the entire series of Mega Man games, from the original through Mega Man 10. Only the first Mega Man Legacy Collection made it onto any Nintendo console, which was the 3DS, so now you have the whole set.
There are three more Switch ports to appreciate included in the update: Runner3, the third entry in Choice Provisions’ cute rhythm-based, arcade-y action game; The Banner Saga, the first in the trilogy of Viking-inspired role-playing games; and Little Nightmares Complete Edition, which includes all previously released content from the extremely scary (and yet oddly adorable) horror adventure game. Little Nightmares is out May 22; the others are out now.
So, yes, these are all ports and remasters. But hey: Everyone always says they want to see ... well, pretty much every game come to Switch, so we can’t really complain. Besides, there’s a slew of other titles out on eShop through next Wednesday as well. This update is both most likely the biggest and most eye-catching we’ve seen in a while, so check out the list below.

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop update stars returning classics[/h]

[h=2]From Street Fighter to Ikaruga, they’re all back on Switch, baby[/h]
The lead-up to E3 2018 has not stopped Nintendo from adding a ton of games to Switch eShop. And while quantity is rarely equal to to quality, in this case, we largely have both — with recognizable titles new and old padding out the storefront through next Wednesday, May 30.
Street Fighter technically turned 30 last year, but Capcom held off on releasing the series’30th Anniversary Collection until this spring. There’s 12 games packed into this one, starting with the first Street Fighter and ending with Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike. A handful of the included games also offer online multiplayer, which is a dope addition for anyone whose teen years were spent forcing quarters into arcade slots. That compilation launches May 29.
Also on Switch comes the closest thing we have to a Castlevania game. Koji Igarashi, the series’ creator, releases one of his Kickstarted spiritual successors onto the console this week. Funny thing is, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is the Kickstarter project’s stretch goal companion game, which resembles an NES platformer. Its big brother Bloodstained: Ritual of the Nighthas spent years in development, as Kickstarter projects often do; back in 2015, it became Kickstarter’s highest funded game ever, only to be delayed until sometime in 2018. At least Igarashi fans have something to tide them over.
But most exciting to us is the return of Ikaruga, a shoot-’em-up game from genre tastemakers Treasure. First released in Japanese arcades in 2001, Ikaruga made it to the West on GameCube in 2003. Since then, it’s been released on Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The new Switch port, however, is both the most recent and perhaps most faithful version to date. The vertical shooter can actually be played vertically on an undocked Switch, after all. (It’s available May 29 as well.)
We’ve got the full list of updates below, so keep an eye out for other names you’ll recognize, like Harvest Moon andN++.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update brings us a new Pokémon game and an instant classic[/h]

[h=2]The real news in the eShop this week is West of Loathing[/h]

This biggest news from the Nintendo eShop this week is the release of Pokémon Quest, a stripped-down take on everyone’s favorite pocket monsters. The game is free-to-start on the Nintendo Switch, and will come to mobile devices this June. If you’ve ever wanted a version of Pokémon that has been squished through the aesthetics of Minecraft, you’re in luck.
But now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can talk about the real big news in the eShop this week: West of Loathing. It’s a game that shouldn’t be as good as it is; West of Loathingbarely has graphics, its sense of humor relies on puns and you may be fooled into thinking there’s not much there when you first begin playing. But trust us: This is a game filled with warmth and solid goofs. It often feels like something out of the classic Shockwave animations of the early internet. If any of this sounds good, even a little, you’d be well rewarded by giving this a try.
“West of Loathing is a great Western game, and it isn’t even in color,” our review, which gave it a nine out of 10, stated. “It’s evocative of all the ambitions and moments that make a cowboy story worthwhile and engaging, while at the same time gently mocking the entire affair from start to finish.”
It’s also only $11, and it’s worth every one of those dollars.
Just Shapes and Beats is also out this week, if you’re in the mood for some co-op bullet hell that’s also a rhythm game.

An online demo of Mario Tennis Aces will also be available, starting tomorrow. “This event will only be active for the short time period between 6 p.m. PT on June 1 and 11:59 p.m. PT on June 3,” Nintendo states. “By participating and keeping your save data, you can unlock Mario’s classic outfit in the full version of the game once purchased, so don’t miss out!”
Here are the rest of the games coming to the eShop this week:

  • ACA NEOGEO NINJA COMBAT (Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch)
  • Defoliation (Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch)

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop gets hungry and horny this week[/h]

[h=2]From sushi to ‘sexy’[/h]
We’ve got one last Nintendo eShop update ahead of E3 2018, and it’s packed with a variety of games that have ... very little in common. That’s not a bad thing, of course — but this is an update for players both young and decidedly older.
The biggest name on the list this week is Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. The game will launch simultaneously on both Nintendo 3DS and Switch. That sounds good to us, based onour early impressions; the action game combines a sushi conveyor belt with puzzle-like matching to unleash attacks against friends or opponents.
On the complete other end of the spectrum is a game we’ve covered before, when it launched on the Japanese eShop earlier this year. Pure / Electric Love “What do you want?” - Eri Kitami - is now available for Switch owners outside of Japan, although it appears to have arrived in Japanese. There’s an English translation of the game’s official description, at least, which rules:
A love-likeness pseudo-talk game “Electric Love” that is a topic in the smartphone.A little embarrassing, in a conversation that pounding, romance skill UP! !
[ ... ]
In this work, fetish cosplayer ‘Eri Kitami’ is a welcome otiyuki blog, please tell her with hyper deadly tension! What?
Rotation in a good sense! While being healed, make the brain gear turn at super speed with maid, bondage etc, gallery image, movie!
To each their own.
Other familiar games include a new entry in the BlazBlue fighting series, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. Our beginner’s guide suggests it’s simple enough for newcomers, but not too relaxed for veteran fighting fans. There’s also the sequel to The Banner Saga, a follow-up to stone-cold classic Shaq-Fu and a demo for the upcoming return of the Shining fantasy role-playing game series, Shining Resonance Refrain.
Below is the full list of new eShop titles:

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update serves up Mario Tennis Aces and much more[/h]

[h=2]A wonderful week on Switch, right after E3[/h]
Nintendo continues its E3 momentum this week with what is easily the highest-quality Switch eShop update in a long, long time. A new Mario game? Yep. An update to one of the biggest franchises in the world? Got that too. We’ve even got two cult classics making their Switch debut — one very recent, one less so.
The biggest name on the list isMario Tennis Aces, which looks to be the most promising entry in Mario’s best sports spinoff series in ... way, way too long. Sure, Nintendo might have oversold its single-player campaign as more RPG-like than it actually is. But if you just want some good, slightly hectic tennis action with your friends, Mario Tennis Aces has exactly that. (A day-one update will bring back the online tournament mode that players got to check out during an early trial period, if you’re curious.)
Minecraft first launched on Nintendo Switch last year, but there’s a new, revamped version that allows for cross-platform play and access to community content. For those who bought the game previously, the update is available as a free download, which is a nice gesture. Also, it’s always kind of funny to hear Xbox achievement sounds on a Nintendo console. AndMinecraft has a lot of ’em now.
There’s also your choice of a soothing puzzle game and what we called one of 2017’s best role-playing games this week: Lumines Remastered, a remaster of the old PSP game thatyou’ll feel throughout your whole body, and fantasy RPG Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana.
We’ve got the full list of titles below, and there are additional highlights in the rest of the list. Our pick? Drawful 2, the upgraded version of one of the best games in the Jackbox Party Pack collection. (Gunbird 2 is also a nice addition for fans of the Dreamcast scrolling shooter; boxed copies of that game go for more than $100 on eBay.)

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update brings Wolfenstein 2, Crash Bandicoot and more[/h]

[h=2]The Switch gets a bit of the ol’ ultraviolence this week[/h]

Nintendo is getting an interesting variety of games on the eShop this week, including a port of the 2017 first-person shooter Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. We’ll have some thoughts on how well the game survived the transition later today, before it’s released on the eShop tomorrow, June 29, for $59.99.
This is probably going to be the best way to kill some Nazis while waiting at the DMV for quite some time, so I’m pretty excited.
The second big release this week is Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a game that includes all three of the classic Crash Bandicoot games with updated visuals, but no Nazis as far as we can tell. It will be released on June 29 as well, for $39.99.
Here are the rest of the week’s releases. If you have yet to play Limboor Inside this is a great excuse to check out why so many of us love them, or even play ‘em both again while you’re out and about.

[h=1]Nintendo Switch eShop finally has a long-awaited fighting game — over a year late[/h]

[h=2]Pocket Rumble leads the way in a diverse and intriguing eShop update[/h]

This week’s Nintendo Switch eShop update is lacking in big names, unless you’re a die-hard fan of the Shining role-playing games, SNK’s classic Samurai Shodown or, uh, HotelTransylvania. But there is one other interesting release hitting this week.
Pocket Rumble is a simple 2D fighter that was inspired by Neo Geo Pocket Color fighting games. The game only requires two buttons to play, and has a number of offline and online modes that encourage players to train up before taking on the big leagues.
Pocket Rumble seems like a sweet, if niche, release. But excitement for it has built up over the past four years, when developer Cardboard Robot Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for the project. Pocket Rumble hit its modest goal of $22,000 by the campaign’s end, and development continued on until the game launched in Steam Early Access in 2016. It remains there to this today, with 107 “mostly positive” reviews.
In 2017 it was revealed that the game would be a Switch console exclusive, with a March release date.

It was playable at GDC, where it attracted widespread attention from Switch owners looking for a throwback fighter. But the developers ended up pushing the game’s launch back just before its planned March 2017 release, due to unforeseen issues with the online multiplayer component. Updates from both Cardboard Robot Games and publisher Chucklefish camethroughout the year to remind fans that the game was still in the works.
The good news is that Pocket Rumble is now here, playable and available to download on Switch. The fans who have been waiting for 18 months are going to have a very good day.
Pocket Rumble is the star of this update, but there are several other intriguing indies on the list, including an “adult” version of the Jackbox Party Pack games called Awkward; a port of adventure game classic Another World; and the very pretty point-and-click episodic gameThe Lion’s Song. The full list is below.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop fills up on Toads and travelers this week[/h]

[h=2]A huge RPG and a little platformer are now on Nintendo Switch[/h]

Some people think that the summer is bone-dry for new games. This week’s Nintendo eShop proves us wrong, yet again, with at least two titles that you should be excited about. For JRPG fans, Square Enix has arrived; if you’re a puzzle-platformer gal, Nintendo says hi.
Octopath Traveleris a Nintendo Switch exclusive courtesy of Square Enix, and its vaguelyFinal Fantasy 6-style vibes have caught our attention since it was announced in 2016. It’s not quite the same as that interweaving RPG classic, but Octopath Traveler does star eight characters with their own stories and abilities. While the connections between them may be more limited than old-school Square Enix fans would like, there is no shortage of style here. The biggest sell, though, is that the summertime is the best time for a nice, long RPG, and we haven’t had one this buzzy on Switch in a while.
On the opposite side of the spectrum is the return of Toad’s debut as a leading man, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. We dug the Wii U version, and we’ve deemed the Nintendo Switch (and 3DS) versions just as essential. There’s some new touches a la Super Mario Odyssey for the re-release, including the appearance of everyone’s favorite, New Donk City. Also, there’s co-op where you control turnips and stuff. It’s cute as heck.
As for the rest of the list, we’ve got sports games, multiplayer games, an Adventure Time game and something called Holy Potatotes! A Weapon Shop?!, which sounds dope. Check ’em all out below.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update includes a floppy party game and a new way to try a 2017 fave[/h]

[h=2]Mega Man X is the biggest name here, but we’re more pumped to join the Sausage Sports Club[/h]

Nintendo Switch eShop big headliners are a pair of Mega Man compilations, which make the entire Mega Man X series available on the console. If you’re into Mega Man X, you know what you’re getting into with these, and you should be happy to have all eight games available on the handheld console.
What makes these weekly updates interesting is that the recognizable titles aren’t always the ones to get excited about. Catching our eyes this week are two indies that we’ve either heralded or anticipated since last summer, each one the polar opposite of the other: Sausage Sports Club is a new game that combines extremely cute animals with floppy physics, whileLost Phones Stories is a repackaging of two of last year’s most acclaimed text adventures.
We first saw Sausage Sports Club as part of a summer Nindies presentation that Nintendo aired just ahead of PAX West 2017. Then promised for a fall 2017 release, Sausage Sports Club looked like a very cute take on physics-based games like Human: Fall Flat and Octodad, with some multiplayer minigames thrown in. Eight people can compete in arbitrarily difficult versions of sumo wrestling and capture the flag in the free play mode, while a story mode lets four people become the spineless, animal competitors on a sports-based reality show. Just watching the game in action is fun, especially if you’re easily amused by dogs in sunglasses.

In the exact opposite direction is Lost Phones Stories. We’ve talked about the Lost Phone games before, so you may already know that each one — A Normal Lost Phone and Another Lost Phone — plays on our voyeuristic curiosity about other people’s smartphones and turns it into an emotionally complicated adventure. With themes like identity and domestic abuse at the forefront, these aren’t the breeziest games to get through. But they both make smart use of a faux phone interface to create a handheld experience still unlike most others we’ve encountered. Plus, they don’t take long, so that Lost Phones Stories contains the two together at a discount is a plus.
Maybe one of these will be your Mega Man X Legacy Collection break, or maybe they’ll command more of your attention than those Capcom classics. There’s several other games out now through July 24, so peep the list below.

[h=1]Sports-style game we’ve been missing this week[/h]

[h=2]This week’s eShop update also adds some maybe-sexy games[/h]

Nintendo Switch is lucky to get at least a few new, interesting games each week, and this week illustrates that those games also run the real gamut of genres. While an obvious callout goes to Go Vacation, the closest thing Switch has to a Wii Sports collection, there’s also some super family-inappropriate games out alongside it.
Go Vacation was a minor hit when it launched on the Wii way back in 2011. Although the Wii Sports games certainly held the crown for the console’s most popular competitive mini-game collections, the response to Go Vacation’s unexpected Switch port suggests it also developed a big fanbase.
It’s composed of more than 50 different sports and outdoor activities, from ice fishing to inline skating — a much wider swath than anything Wii Sports ever offered. With a variety of island resorts to visit and local four-player, splitscreen multiplayer, Go Vacation sounds like the kind of party game the Switch has been needing since launch.
And now for something completely different: Remember that game Pure / Electric Love that made its way onto the U.S. eShop in June? If you don’t, it may be because you don’t lovesexting with erotic cosplayers through your video game consoles. No judgment if that’s your thing, of course! Owners will be happy to know that there are now two additional girls to flirt with. Pure / Electric Love’s “Everyone else!” — Ema Sakura — and “Look at my eyes!” — Moe Yamauchi — updates gives us the extra dating options we probably deserve.
The rest of the list is all over the place, as per usual. Check the whole thing out below.

[h=1]Get out your Nintendo 3DS for this week’s Nintendo eShop update[/h]

[h=2]Meanwhile, it’s another fine week for Nintendo Switch eShop, baybee[/h]

e usually spotlight Nintendo Switch games in our weekly eShop download posts. It seems like the logical, helpful thing to do — Nintendo’s thrown its might behind the system, and numerous third-parties have come along for the ride. But the Nintendo 3DS is still out there, scratching and surviving, and this week’s set of new releases is a reminder of the handheld’s persistence.
WarioWare Goldis the first entry in the series since 2013’s lackluster Game and Wario for Wii U. It’s also arguably the first one worth playing sinceWarioWare: D.I.Y. on Nintendo DS, a game that launched almost 10 years ago. We’re into the return to the series’ roots, filled with the franchise’s hilarious characters and even a talking Wario for the first time. Gold is a fun, funny, self-aware parody of minigame collections that holds up as well as the originalMega Microgames! does.
It’s also well-suited for Nintendo 3DS. WarioWare is best when it’s cramming a lot of bizarre action into a tiny package; it feels like it’s full-to-bursting, and that’s part of the charm. That being said, there’s something that feels off about Nintendo choosing to release a new game only on 3DS at this stage in the Switch’s lifespan. Consider Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, whose remaster came to both 3DS and Switch earlier this summer. The same thing happened with Sushi Striker: The Way of the Sushido, even though it was originally meant to be a 3DS exclusive.
Nintendo 3DS lovers should be happy to have another great game to play, straight from Nintendo itself — especially since the months ahead look really dry right now. There’s a pair of Yo-Kai Watch games out in September, published by Level-5; an Etrian Odyssey will come eventually from Atlus. And Nintendo still has a Luigi’s Mansion remake and an enhanced edition of Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story on the horizon. Beyond that? Not much else is on the schedule.
At least Nintendo Switch continues to flourish, with an abundance of riches out over the next week. Aug. 7 will see the release of Metroidvania-esque platformer Dead Cells, as well as the frenetic multiplayer game Overcooked 2. Another Picross game is out now, and Flipping Death looks like a charming adventure game starring a woman temping as the Grim Reaper.
The full list of games is below, our sole Nintendo 3DS entrant included.

[h=1]Okami HD, Dragon Ball FighterZ demo and other anticipated titles arrive to Nintendo eShop[/h]
[h=2]This week’s update also includes a host of indie titles[/h]

Finally available on Nintendo Switch is the remastered version of Okami, which was previously available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Okami HD follows the Japanese sun goddess, Amaterasu, who takes on the role of the white wolf Shiranui in order to restore a land to its full glory. The original title was released ten years ago on PlayStation 2 and even at the time, it was praised for its unique visual style, reminiscent of traditional Japanese paintings. A game with such beautiful visuals and a whole gameplay mechanic designed around brushstrokes deserves a stunning remaster — and now Okami HD is available on the Nintendo eShop.
Also in the eShop this week is the open beta for Dragon Ball FighterZ, which is headed to Nintendo Switch in September. The beta will run from Aug. 9 at 9:00 PM PDT to Aug. 11 at 11:59 PDT, so there’s some time to catch online action and check out some new features.Dragon Ball FighterZ was the most popular game at this year’s Evo fighting game tournament and now Switch owners will get a chance to try it out before purchase.

[h=1]Nintendo eShop update gives Monster Hunter fans a chance to try its Switch debut[/h]

[h=2]Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate isn’t out yet, but your first taste is already here[/h]

We’re in peak “doldrums of summer” time, just ahead of the more overwhelming fall gaming season. Nonetheless, Nintendo Switch eShop has a handful of downloads to check out before September, including a preview of the first Switch game from a huge franchise.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is a Nintendo Switch version of the expansion to 2016’s Nintendo 3DS entry in the series. That game, Monster Hunter Generations, receivedpraise from what was back then a smaller fanbase — a dedicated niche that already knew the Monster Hunter ropes. Things have changed since then, however, asMonster Hunter: World introduced a swath of newcomers to Capcom’s action-RPG franchise.
Don’t expect to easily jump into Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate if you’ve already sunk hundreds of hours into World. Get ready for a steep learning curve, in part due to way more hunting styles, monsters and even loading screens to deal with. It will take some time to unlearn your Monster Hunter: World habits if you’re eager to become dedicated to another Monster Hunter game. Thankfully, this one’s on Switch, so at least you can carry it around with you if you really want to be serious about Generations Ultimate.

The full game won’t launch until Aug. 28, but a demo is on eShop now. As Redditors have pointed out, it includes single-player and both online and local multiplayer; there are also a trio of quests, 14 weapons and six different ways to hunt.
As for what else is on Switch this week? We’re fans of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes’ previous iterations, including its PlayStation VR version; that’s a high-anxiety party game that seems apt for Switch. The full list is below:

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
