Comments: Ben Sharp a.k.a Cloudkicker makes you want to believe in good music. But his is better than good.
He's a normal guy with a normal job, but with a hobby of writing and recording fantastic music. And then releasing it for free. No labels, no promotions and no additional musicians. It's been 5 years listening to Cloudkicker, and let me just say that I have mad respect for Mr. Ben Sharp. But more than that, he's a solid inspiration to me.
Now apparently Fade just got released. And I'll do quick rundown of my thoughts. First and foremost, this is like a combination of all his previous efforts (Let Yourself Be Huge , Beacons and ]]][[[). It plays out very very good. There are groovy signatures everywhere and his drumming is at its best. Production seems a bit more traditional which is fine by me. His approach is very transparent. Right away, there's a smooth dynamic feel to it. Like preparing fireworks. Biggest change is his bass parts. They're effing amazing. Sets up a rich atmosphere. Except for Our Crazy Night, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. And like an overjoyed fanboy I keep going back to it. So in the end Cloudkicker maintains his creative consistency very well and Fade winds up as an another memorable release to his exalting discography.
