Digital Foundry knew best for games back then, because it was the only source for data on game performance when I said that. VG Tech is my primary source now.

My point in highlighting that post was that I only go to RTINGS for their fact finding analysis. I prefer the opinion of Vince Teoh @ HDTVTest (been following the site for over a decade), but even there I make my own opinion based on factors that are important to me for gaming.

Even the DF article cautions about burn-in on the CX.

While we recommend OLED if you're considering a high-end TV, Samsung's QLED sets have their own strengths, including the ability to hit higher peak brightness figures and immunity to burn-in.
While OLED TVs are impressive, they are expensive and may be prone to burn-in in extreme cases. They also can't match the brightness of high-end LCD displays.
LG OLEDs have some major strengths, namely excellent contrast, excellent screen uniformity, deepest blacks (due to local dimming essentially turning off LED diodes where needed), 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs, but the risk of burn-in is a major drawback and so is the gimped "game changing" HDR brightness.

Burn-in possible, albeit extremely unlikely if you watch varied content
I don't watch varied content. A large part of my time spent with a TV is gaming, and I tend to play the same game until I'm done before moving on to the next. E.g. recently spent 100+ hours in Returnal.

Moreover, what this DF article doesn't tell you is the abysmal performance on the CX for 30fps content. You have to enable motion interpolation for stutter to even be somewhat bearable, but that adds plenty of input latency on top.

Also, the author seems to think the Sony X90J has "low input lag" @ 18ms at 60Hz and 11ms at 120Hz. This is not what I consider low, and, therefore, it's clear that I have different requirements for gaming.

My recommendation to others would be different based on their consumption habits. Those who aren't sensitive to stutter, play games for an hour or so each day in a dark or dimly lit environment, and often switch between games should by all means go with an LG CX. The 4k VRR latency is a little high, though, so I'd instead recommend an LG C1 to such people.

The fact remains, however, that "game changing" HDR will always look more impressive on a brighter display 🤷‍♂️

Vincent recommends LG CX for gaming as well. Twice.

"If you've watched this video without any bias or preconceptions, hopefully you agree with us that all things considered the LG CX OLED is the best TV for PS5 gaming"

Yes Vincent, one can only hope at this point. But alas, CerebralTiger will always be biased towards Sony :ROFLMAO:

So lets recap:

Rtings --> LG CX
Digital Foundry --> LG CX
HDTV Test --> LG CX
.
.
.
.
CerebralTiger --> Sony X90H :LOL:

Sounds like a pretty definitive "game changer" as I've always said 🤷‍♂️

Odd that I'm considered biased towards Sony when I've only been praising Samsung QLEDs in my last few posts. Buying a Sony TV doesn't mean I think it's the best 🤷‍♂️

This win is based on factors like excellent contrast, blacks, screen uniformity, and 4 hdmi 2.1 ports, not "game changing" HDR peak brightness.

"[...] bright gameplay sequences look the most impactful on the Samsung Q90T. [...] The eagle-eyed among you may also have noticed that the fire looked more saturated and fiery on the Samsung Q90T, thanks to quantum dot technology which conferred the TV higher color volume than [...] the LG CX whose brighter colors were diluted by WRGB sub-pixel structure [...]."

Unfortunately, Vince didn't take the CX's VRR limitations and stutter-related issues for 30fps (and even 60fps, to a lesser extent) content into account when making this decision, but there is data available on this. As I said:

I prefer the opinion of Vince Teoh @ HDTVTest (been following the site for over a decade), but even there I make my own opinion based on factors that are important to me for gaming.
"But we do realize that some gamers are understandably worried about the possibility of permanent screen burn".

Temporary, not permanent, image retention shown here, but yikes! Would never have considered platinum'ing Returnal on an OLED panel. Imagine wanting to hook up a PC with the CX to manage its VRR deficiencies 🤣

Found the post at last :LOL:

OLED+HDR ko game changing kaha tha, not HDR without OLED which is still decent but not game changing. Selectively picking only HDR tech itself and discarding display tech from my statement, because TChussL OLED nahi use karta, is making up arguments of your own because you don't have any point in the first place.

Ironically, he used the X90H in the video to show that an OLED has inferior game changing HDR 🤣
Ironically he also pointed out how Sony's tone mapping is inferior :ROFLMAO:

It's okay. You made a mistake. You might still be able to sell the X90H for a profit and upgrade to a real game changer :ROFLMAO:

So, not only Sony has washed out contrast levels and halo effects (FALD 🤷‍♂️ ), but also inferior tone-mapping. Sounds bad for HDR 🤷‍♂️

OLED's infinite contrast though 🤜

Except that it is. Precisely why every tech reviewer recommends it for HDR gaming. Too bad you can't come to terms with that fact 🤷‍♂️

LMAO.. Imagine thinking contrast has no impact on HDR
Higher contrast ratio helps with color saturation, regardless of HDR. Moreover, the contrast ratio needed to produce impactful HDR is there on LCDs. OLED contrast ratio is largely beneficial for dark room viewing.

Peak brightness is, by far, the most important factor for impactful HDR. Other factors are color gamut and volume. Color volume benefits from a higher contrast, as it allows colors to be more saturated. However, HDR's impact is lost at low brightness, which is a drawback of OLEDs. Dude's written "Fact" in the video title, given a great example in the video, phir bhi koi faida nahi hua 🤣

Now repeat after me: Fact: HDR on an LCD is better than HDR on an OLED 😄

lol @ largely.
Contrast needed for "impactful HDR" is inadequate on LCDs, thats why FALD exists, which introduces issues of its own.

Peak brightness is, by far, the most important factor for impactful HDR.
I mean, Vincent, Digital Foundry and Rtings ALL seem to disagree with you here. As the best HDR gaming TVs they recommend happen to be OLEDs 🤷‍♂️

Dude's written "Fact" in the video title, phir bhi koi faida nahi hua 🤣
Dude made a video for people who are saying OLED's don't need to get any brighter than they are today. Dude also says the "holy grail" is 4,000 nits. Does your X90H do that? Hell no. Dude is probably going to keep dropping that "fact" until TVs reach that value :ROFLMAO:

You didn't even understand the point of the "dude's" video. "Dude" ko decade se follow kar rahe ho par seekha kuch bhi nahi. No wonder you ended up with a X90H despite the Dude's recommendation :ROFLMAO:
