hello guys,

My brother come from dubai. and brought the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. Today I made the account in dirbs with my CNIC. I've added both Imei. because this is dual sim mobile

dirbs want me to pay more than 13000PKR of taxes. Is not a free one mobile for Per CNIC? I have never registered any device before.

Its to much tax. any solution?

i think it is one or first time free for overseas Pakistani's (International Passengers) only!

So either use your brothers Passport no or make a new account on your bro's name, alongside valid passport no, and then apply for "CoC issuance processes for International Passengers" to avial exepmtion i think!

or email them with passport no, that you're a international traveler & that you brought it from overseas for yourself etc like that!

And in case of non compliance your device will be paired with your phone no/sim cards i think!

Vigo nothing to worry Just get a valid passport No and CNIC! & then sign-up on PTA's website and apply for CoC (cert. of compliance as international traveler), which your bro is. So use his Passport no and CNIC no! and Re-apply

And let us know once you resolve the issue.

I have a passport. but I select a local mobile user residing in Pakistan. There is an option for the international traveler as well.

Maybe I can submit COC again with my passport number? I already submit application with CNIC. Is there no problem to submit same Imei again with Passpost?

I have no problem paying tax. but 13,000 tax for the mobile cost around 30,000 is a lot.

No other solution. I believe now that you have once applied, don't think can cancel that and apply on someone else's name who may have come in the last 60 days to Pakistan.

Duty structure is as under for a cell phone that values above $130:

1. Customs Regulatory Duty = 20%
2. Sales Tax = PKR 1500
3. Advance Sales Tax = 3%
4. Advance Income Tax = 6% for Filter and 9% for Non-Filer
5. Mobile Handset Levy = PKR 1000

Hmm i suppose you can try to sell it in local market! maybe you get a good deal there and then buy a PTA approved Mi A2 Lite from here, or ask for a straight swap with a PTA approved Mi A2 Lite, if it suits!
or try visiting PTA office in your locale to explain the whole scenario, as they usually dont attend phone calls.

Vigo you can also email them, with your tracking ID at [email protected] , claiming that you made an error with regards to registering as local mobile user instead of International Traveler!

Don't Give up and Try this!

Vigo Aoa bro did got your issue resolved!

if not then you can delete your application from your Profile in Dirbs account dashboard! and it'll clear your IMEI no from the system, then you re-submit the application as foreigner/international traveler to register your phone (1 smartphone per year) free of cost! As per FBR policy.

@mbk99 Sorry for a late update in the topic.

I checked, I have the option to delete IMEI. I deleted.

(To avail baggage rule facility "1st free Device" in a calender year is only for International Traveler who travelled within 60 Days.)

but I have not travel international since many year. Is it not possible for me to register on my passport?

My brother already registered the phone in his passport when he arrived at the airport. This mobile he brought in luggage. very disappointed by these rules. at least two mobiles should be allowed. this mobile is for personal use.

can someone suggest me any other way?

You'll have to use your own passport or a legit one! i think you shouldn't worry about the "To avail baggage rule facility "1st free Device" in a calendar year is only for International Traveler who travelled within 60 Days" as long as you have perfectly valid passport!

there is no other way!

You can email them (PTA) they are very slow in responding but they always reply to your Email queries, i have tried it myself!

Now I have again added imei with my passport number. still FBR duty payment.

I have never used my passport before. it seem database set the FBR duty for that mobile imei?

Now the FBR fees is 9000 instead of 11000

if i email them one mobile should be free on my passport. maybe they will say. you have not travel in 60 days. or maybe i will write something else?

Then you're not eligible for one phone free.

You have to pay duty.
Was wondering whether Passport numbers are checked against Travel data, so this would say they do check it. As per my research, Airlines are required to upload Passenger Air Manifest on WebOC (Online Customs System) so I guess they check the Passport against the said list. Don't think they'd have access to Immigration Counter data.

Yes because lots of non travellers on Facebook have been trying to get one phone free, but it doesn't work.
