Hello everyone,
Its been long that I wanted to get an entry level DSLR camera. From the recent searches I came to know that the prices have somewhat reduced so I thought to benefit myself from the senior members of photographic section.
I have found these two to be in my range and from my online search the picture taken by them appear excellent.
1. Canon EOS 1100D
Canon EOS 1100D 18-135 Lens Price in Pakistan. Online Shopping

2. Canon 600D
Canon 600D DSLR Camera Body Only in Pakistana

Comparatively the price of 1100D is lower than the later and so would make a substantial convincing factor. The questions that I have in mind are;
1. I heard Canon are easy to use and are at par with point and shot cameras. To what extent the statement is correct?
2. Reason for getting canon is that I heard that there is a motor in canon's camera body for the lens to auto focus which are absent in Nikon. So the lenses of Nikon are too costly. Again, is it correct?
3. Being a newbie, I wanted to know are the canon cameras user friendly and not complex?

I am not planning on going out and become a photographer overnights but the camera will be used for family pictures and perhaps a few picnics.

Will appreciate your guidance.
Regards

bro few days ago i was in the same situation and my budget was around 50k... searched for the canon 1100D but when i checked the body it was like chinese knockoff, build quality is very poor total shinny plastic with no rubber grip secondly black color is discontinued and company is clearing stock of brown color so the camera is going to be discontinued after stock clearance thirdly there is no Spot metering in 1100D
So skipped 1100D
Second option in canon is 600D which is no doubt a very nice camera but as u know its discontinued so the prices raised upto 58k+ add 2k for card=60k...
Now ur questions
1) Canon is not that easy to use as compared to Nikon ( there is no graphical representation like the one in Nikon (just my openoin)
2)No! Canon doesnt have any focus motor in bodies (logon ki ghalat fehmi).... only few( primes lenses) of Nikon are expensive but there is a huge difference in quality.
Conclusion
if u are more interested in Videography then go for 600D (support 3rd party video making software)
if u are more into photography then go for Nikon D5100 or D3100 with 55-200mm VR lens
D3100 over 1100D
Better image quality
Better build quality
better iso performance
focus assist light (very helpful in low light focusing)
Full HD 1080p 24p video recording
Price 42900 with Tripod and Bag

D5100 vs 600D
Same build quality
Better video on 600D
Builtin wireless flash trigger in 600D
Better image quality and iso performance on D5100
Builtin hdr functionality in D5100
Focus assist light in D5100
Price of D5100: 53900 with Tripod and bag
Price of 600D : 58000 just body and kit lens

Hope it helps brother :)

Don't just hope cause you really helped clarifying the misconception I had on the basis of information gathered over time.
I was searching on homeshopping and found Canon 600D deal appealing as it had a 15-105mm lens with it. Now if I get the aforementioned camera that is D5100 with a lens of similar power without tripod etc, how much would it cost me?
I was thinking to get the body and the lens I mentioned and skip the 18-55mm lens.

Secondly
http://homeshopping.pk/products/Nikon-D3200-18-105mm-DSLR-Camera-in-Pakistan.html

Does it worth it? I mean D3200 vs D3100 and the lens that is provided with the camera.
If i go for only body and buy the lens alone how much will it cost me then?
Regards

>18-105mm costs around 27k new one but 18-105mm is not a wise decision at start because the aperture is same as 18-55mm....
>kit lens is good enough to start with, will show you some pix taken with my D3100+18-55mm just you need to learn the photography skills
>if you really want to skip the kit lens then i suggest you to go for body+ 50mm f1.8 AFS/G lens the best lens for portraits
>52900 is price with kit lens and kit lens is worth 10k while 50mm cost 19900 so do the math 43+20= 63k+1k for card = 65k
and just a suggestion dont skip the Tripod and bag bcoz if u will seperately buy it will cost you around 5-6k....
here is my kit you can see the tripod and bag

Don't skip the 18-55mm kit lens. First play with it and then you'll know which one to get next. And btw bokeh (background blurring) is really nice on the kit lens if you practice with it.

Hello again,
need a little information again and i hope i will helped just as I was :)
1. Is it okay if I buy the camera from online shop (you may all guess which shop I am talking about) or the local market?
2. I have several options in mind which are somewhat similar in price range but I don't know if they have the similar capability or one is better than other.
The cameras I have in mind are

i. Nikon D3300 wiuth 18-55 VRII (What is VRII?)
ii. Canon 600D with 18-55mm
iii. Canon EOS 1100D with 18-55mm lens (The cheapest I could find, is it any good?)
iv. Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm lens (Can't find in black and don't like red color)
v. Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm VRII (Though black but What is VRII again?)
vi. Nikon D5200 with 18-55mm lens

I am a newbie and would love to have the camera in warranty. Wanted to know if camtronix is fine in comparison to the warranty provided by the online shop. Moreover, my preference is pictures. The blur effect, clarity and vividness. I am not into videos and will rarely make any if was necessary upto the extent.
Regards

I can't tell you where to buy from, but don't buy online.

Also go with the d5200,it is better than d3200.

VR, means vibration reduction technology. If you want some depth of field, low light vividness, don't buy the 18-55, get a lens which can handle low light better. You can even try a 50mm f1.8 fixed lens too. Its excellent for portraits and bokeh photography.

It all depends on how you want to shoot and what you want to shoot.

I have the D5200 and I love it. I highly recommend it. Get it with the default 18-55mm kit lens. In pakistan nikon's warranty is provided only by camtronix. VRII is the same as VR but VRII lenses have a zoom lock in them, doesn't really make a difference...

first of all if r not into videos then definetly you are going for Nikon :) and for the blur effect just buy an extra lens 55-200mm VR (new one cost 16500) check out the above pix they all are taken with kit lens and no editing... now if you can affort then i will suggest u to buy D5100+kit lens+55-200mm = 70k with free tripod and medium size nikon bag... otherwise D3100 is just fine body doesnt matter alot D3100+kit lens+55-200mm VR = Rs:57k
And dont buy from any online shop like HSN their camera are most likely refurbished... Authorised Nikon distributors are there and provide 1 year camtronx warranty...

1. Preferably buy from authorized dealer..checking its not refurb or anything

Blur Effect (called Bokeh) and Clarity (I assume you mean sharpness): Both mostly depend on Lens and both mostly depend on Aperture of lens (or F number i.e f/1.8, f/3.5, etc) not zoom..

A low F number means more opening aperture higher Boken (creamy blur) and higher sharpness..so I would go for 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.8 But remember that these are fixed focus lens (also known as Prime lenses) so you will have to move yourself to zoom in or zoom out.

Vividness is mostly dependent on the body (i.e sensor, processor, resolution, etc) of camera ...so get a good body..NOW, for a beginner I would say go for either.
D5200/ D3200 both have amazing sensor, processor, resolution, etc...and you can get a kit lens (18-55mm)..but then save money and buy one of the prime lenses I mentioned.

There are brands other than Canikon that can give you more features and better performance in the same price bracket. May I dare to name one? Pentax is one of them and yes we have authorized Pentax dealer here in Pakistan called Hope Enterprises. They are selling them at highly competitive prices. Here is the link to their DSLR page ===> DIGITAL SLR - Hope Enterprises

The camera that I suggest is K-30.
Here's a snapsort link that compares it with D5200: Nikon D5200 vs Pentax K-30 - Our Analysis

P.S : I am not in anyway related to Hope Enterprises.
