Hey there guys. Need to build a rig for a friend of mine that should include everything except the table and chair. :p

Considering 100k is the budget, I came up with:

i5 2500K - 20K
ASRock Z68 Gen 3 - 12K
G Skill RipJawX 8GB 1600 -5.7K
WD 1TB HDD -8-10K
GTX 560Ti - 23K (have to choose which one yet)
Xigmatek 600W - 6K
DVD Writer = 1.7k
=72.4k max

That leaves around 27.6K out of which need to decide the following items:

20-22 Inch Widescreen LCD
A good gaming mice
A good gaming back-lit keyboard
A good case (Please no bullsh*t for opting cm chassis. Over priced and crap IMO)

Hit me up with your suggestions!

AOC LED E2243FWK 22" 16.2k at galaxy

RAZER DEATHADDER 4.7k at galaxy

RAZER ARCTOSA 3.8k at galaxy

BETFINEX SHINOBI 5.4k at imx

If u increased some budget more you can get Shinobi....

Budget is locked at 100k not a penny more. So would prefer if we stick to it. :)

If your friend isn't going to overclock it then i'd say that a i5 2400 or 2320 would even work as well for him. The motherboard board is fine for the price (seeing that it has the new Z68 chipset).

As far as the memory is concerned, 1600Mhz ripjaws wouldn't be a good idea, Corsair value select or Kinsgton KVR 1333Mhz (2x4GB) would be better unless he's into benching, rendering, etc.

CM makes excellent cases, personally they have a good solid build quality and of course, everything good comes also for a price. In addition to that, CM's 912 advanced is an excellent case for the money but for the best value, there's nothing better than Shinoni Window (in this case).

There's huge a list of LED's on galaxy with different 20-22" models, you can choose from the brands that I'd recommend would be Viewsonic and Dell.

Instead of a GTX 560 Ti, I'd recommend going with a Gigabyte SOC HD 6950, its for 25k at EASE TEC, but that might require more than a decent case. IT IS A 11 INCH LONG BEAST

Well he will be overclocking. That's why I am opting for the 2500k in the first place. I guess around the 4.8 mark provided proper cooling off course. And the rig besides gaming will be used for video rendering.

Umm how come ripjaws bad? :| I do own KVR's on the other hand clocked to 1600 MHz 24/7 without an issue and again you DO have a point here, unless ram speeds are 2133+, there isn't any difference with that on Sandy.

And count the case part out since he's gonna order this tomorrow:

Any opinions over this though?

Well we'd also use the rig for rendering so Nvidia's CUDA is extremely useful here that doesn't leave AMD cards as an option. Personally I would like to wait for ivy and kepler to launch but he doesn't have time for it. :)

Well as he'd be overclocking, then you can surely keep your first posted specs as they are. Just keep in mind that he'd need a really good cooler for a 4.8Ghz overclock for 24/7 usage. You're right about the ram speeds, although if 1600Mhz is all he can find, then even that's good enough.

As far as the Casing is concerned, thermaltake usually makes useless build quality cases. They're only great if you're on a budget. Better than this if of course the Shinobi window in terms of better cable management and being more spacious.

4. Antec 300/Antec 600(from imx) = 5300/5800

Following;

- DELL ST2320L LED (~18500)
- Logitech G400 Gaming Mouse (~3300)
- Bitfenix Shinobi Window Casing (~5400)

A good back-lit keyboard is not an option in your case. Budget shall be increased.

To create some room, following:

- ASUS MS226H LCD (~17800)
- Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse (~2900)
- CaseCom 5288 Casing (3500)

Even in this case, budget is not sufficient for a good back-lit keyboard.

Otherwise, compromise on display device will be required, which is not recommended because of the graphics card that you have considered.

Get no less than G.SKILL RipJaws X RAMs, reviewers state that 1600MHz is a sweet spot, while C9 or less timings are must for those speed on a Sandy Bridge setup.
G. SKILL currently provide best value all over the world, followed closely by GEIL (which is unfortunately not widely available in North America).

Antec casings are pretty reasonably priced and look decent
For the mouse i heard the Deathaddar has reliability issues , alot of people opted for Logitech Mx518 and CM Storm Sentinal
For the keyboard i guess the Razer Arcosa is pretty good

Well need a mouse that is 5600DPI not less. I was thinking about the Lachesis. But need backlit keyboards guys! That is a must. I'll show the bit fenix case to my friend it's up to him to decide whether he wants the shinobi or not. And also might be able to make the budget 105k not sure but would confirm tomorrow. :) Screen size guys 20-22 inch tops not more than that can get even used of its a good. I was thinking about those sleek syncmaster panels. What do you guys say?

And with keyboards you have limited options, for around 3k you'll get Lycosa,Saitek cyborg models and maybe windows sidewinder(used)

You got yourself a lot of options depending on how you want to configure your rig. I'll go with the easier, non-oc route first and i'll factor in impending launch of IB as well. But include SB options as well

1. Mobo: AsRock H61 -5500
2. CPU: i2500k/IB equalent: 20800
3. MEM: G.Skill ARES 8GB: 5700 (I know this is against my norm, but this thing is cheap enough)
4. GPU: ATi/AMD about ~35K
5. HDD: 1TB ~10K
6. DVD Writer: 1.7K
7. Case: Elite: 4.8K
8. Mice/Keyboard: To taste (though i use bog standard keyboard and mice as i break them often)
9. LCD: Most LCDs here are the same bogstandard units with TFT panels, so again to taste: 15-20k

There is no point in spending big bucks on a mobo if OC is not needed. USB 3.0 is nice as is SATA 6 but if that is a necesity get a DH67BL/CL board. But i'd suggest this and putting as much money towards the GPU as possible as that is going to make or break gaming, not the board, SATA or USB ports. If push comes to shove replace ARES with Value ram and u can save another 1700 rupees or so.

If however you must OC, then i'd agree with ur suggestion, but at the obvious sacrifice of GPU which i personally would not do. I don't have the link in mind but there are numbers for OC and stock performance of SB in The Witcher (stock ->upto 4.3). THe gains were not as impressive as getting a better GPU. I'd go the better GPU route any day

PS: boards don't make any difference in gaming performance. The following is a personal comparison between Asus P67 and H61 (18K vs 6K)

^^the h61 with an unlocked processor dont make sense to me
& since he has mentioned that overclocking is a priority, he has to get either a p67 or a z68. & for a single gpu setup there is a z68 board for around 12k

although i do agree that its the gpu thats gonna make the biggest difference in this rig, & that a small SSD would not be worth it- the decreased boot time vs the lower frame rates

If i were to spend 100k on a rig, i would wait for kepler & ivy bridge

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
