Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge arrives in April

new “red band” trailer for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, the feature-length animated movie based on the Mortal Kombat franchise, promises “extreme violence, bad language, and a bloody good time.” And based on the number of exploding heads and severed limbs featured in the trailer, plus Johnny Cage shouting “Holy shit!” at least two of those promises are delivered on.
Suffice it to say, if you have an aversion to animated blood or exposed bones, this may not be the cartoon trailer for you. But if you’re interested in a new spin on the Mortal Kombat story, and additional back story on why Scorpion’s so dang pissed all the time, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge might be the adaptation for you. (A live-action Mortal Kombatmovie reboot is also in the works, but won’t arrive until 2021.)

The animated movie’s cast includes Patrick Seitz as Scorpion, Joel McHale (Community) as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues as Liu Kang, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, and David B. Mitchell as Raiden.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will be available digitally starting April 12. A physical release — in a 4K Ultra HD combo pack, Blu-ray combo pack, and DVD — is coming on April 28.
On Sunday, Mortal Kombat developer fully revealed the sixth character coming to Mortal Kombat 11: Todd McFarlane’s Spawn.
