Mortal Kombat 11’s Sonya Blade to be voiced by Ronda Rousey

The former UFC and current WWE star makes her Kombat debut

<strong><strong><font color="#ff8c00">

At the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon revealed that Ronda Rousey will be voicing one of Mortal Kombat’s original fighters: Sonya Blade.
In a short documentary-style video (above), Rousey revealed that she’s been a longtime Mortal Kombat fan and has tried to emulate Blade throughout her life and career. Considering her history as the first woman UFC champion and her recent move to the WWE, we’d say she’s emulated Sonya pretty successfully. She later appeared on stage at the reveal event to talk about her new role in front of the live audience.
In the Mortal Kombat universe, Sonya Blade is the general of the Earthrealm Special Forces and tends to fight with gadgets, military tech, and shockwave gauntlets. One of the fatalities revealed during the event showed Sonya shooting her opponent into the blades of a helicopter. In the future Mortal Kombat X timeline, Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage have a daughter, Cassie Cage.
Sonya Blade has appeared in nearly all of the Mortal Kombat games as either a fighter or cameo.
Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23.

[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11’s time-cheating character is the game’s coolest new addition[/h]

[h=2]Geras can rewind time, put opponents in timeout, and even manipulate the game clock[/h]

When NetherRealm Studios unveiled Mortal Kombat 11 last week, the game’s brand-new character, Geras, might have looked like a fairly standard grappler. He’s armed with a few familiar Mortal Kombat-style teleportation and freeze moves, plus the ability to manipulate stone and sand. But Geras is easily the game’s most intriguing character, thanks to his ability to manipulate time — including the power to influence the in-game timer.
One of Geras’ abilities is called Lost Time and Spare Time. It consists of two moves: Lost Time, which subtracts up to 30 seconds from the clock, and Spare Time, which adds 30 seconds to the clock. Lost Time has some restrictions, naturally. Geras can’t remove the final nine seconds of the match, even if the timer is already under 30 seconds.

Lost Time and Spare Time costs two ability slots (out of three total) in a customized character loadout, meaning that NetherRealm considers the moves to be pretty powerful. Those timer-manipulating moves can’t be paired with some of Geras’ other high-powered moves, like Reawakened, which resurrects him when his life bar is drained and takes two ability slots; and Rewind Time, which takes three slots and behaves like Tracer’s Recall ability from
Overwatch. Geras’ Rewind Time move takes him back in time four seconds, both in terms of his position and health, as seen in his reveal trailer.

Geras uses Rewind Time on Skarlet. NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros. Interactive EntertainmentStreamer and fighting game commentator David “UltraDavid” Graham explored how Geras’ abilities work — and the intriguing ways they can work together — in a 20-minute videocaptured at last week’s Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event. In it, Graham explores some of the fascinating and potentially maddening ways in which Geras can chain together abilities to aggravate his opponent.

One combination Graham puts together chains Geras’ ability to freeze opponents in place — a move I believe is called Temporal Advantage — with Shifting Sands, which behaves like a gravity well, slowing and inhibiting an opponent’s movement. He quickly follows that up with Lost Time, eating 30 seconds off the clock. As shown in the GIF below, Geras makes it difficult for Baraka to reach him and overcome his health deficit.
Geras time-combos Baraka. NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment viaDavid Graham on YouTubeAs Graham notes in his video, which you can watch at the top of this post, there are other moves that Geras players could combine with Lost Time to run down the clock more effectively. NetherRealm may tweak and rebalance some of those moves over the next few months, but however Geras winds up in the final version of the game, he’s certainly going to be a fascinating character to watch in high-level Mortal Kombat 11 play.
Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23.

[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11 adds Kabal, D’Vorah to roster[/h]

[h=2]More kombatants return for MK11[/h]

Mortal Kombat 11 will bring back Kabal, the fighter who first appeared in 1995’s Mortal Kombat 3 but skipped the previous game in the franchise, Mortal Kombat X.
Kabal’s return isn’t a surprise for anyone who watched Mortal Kombat 11’s reveal event. Developer NetherRealm Studios briefly teased the fighter last month, and officially confirmed him Tuesday during a Kombat Kast livestream.
Kabal will wield his signature dual hooked blades in Mortal Kombat 11, and moves like the Nomad Dash stun (aka Raging Flash) and Buzzsaw projectiles will return. He’ll also have some reworked moves, including poisonous gas attacks. According to NetherRealm, usingMortal Kombat 11’s custom character loadouts, players will be able to build a version of Kabal that suits their play style. But NetherRealm’s Steve Brownback said that he’ll be easier to pick up and play than in previous games. Brownback described the new Kabal as a mid-range to long-range fighter who uses overhead attacks as key mixup tools.
You can see Kabal in action in Mortal Kombat 11 — and see his Fatal Blow and Fatality — in the character reveal trailer above.
After today’s Kombat Kast, NetherRealm revealed another returning character: D’Vorah, the insectoid fighter from Mortal Kombat X.

NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros. Interactive EntertainmentJoining Kabal and D’Vorah in Mortal Kombat 11 will be another classic character, Kano. NetherRealm confirmed Kano’s appearance during a reveal event in Brazil last week. In sadder news, NetherRealm also officially denied that Shaggy from Scooby-Doo will appear inMortal Kombat 11, despite an outcry of meme-fueled interest.
Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23.

[h=1]Shang Tsung’s coming to Mortal Kombat 11, played by the original film actor[/h]

[h=2]Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is reprising his role from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie[/h]

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is coming back as Shang Tsung. The actor, who played the evil warlock in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie adaptation, will lend his voice and likeness to the character for Mortal Kombat 11.
Shang Tsung will be Mortal Kombat 11’s first character to appear as downloadable content for the fighting game. He’ll also be your host and guide to The Krypt, Mortal Kombat 11’s campaign-style mode that will offer challenges and unlockable items.
Mortal Kombat series co-creator Ed Boon unveiled Shang Tsung, and our first peek at The Krypt, at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (aka C2E2) today. You can watch a clip of that reveal on Twitch.
Boon and NetherRealm colleagues also confirmed the return of Noob Saibot, the dark ninja who made his debut in Mortal Kombat 2.
Shang Tsung was the final boss of the original Mortal Kombat. The shape-shifting wizard appeared in Paul W.S. Anderson’s film adaptation of Mortal Kombat, Tagawa portrayed a younger version of the character, and later reprised his role in the live-action web series,Mortal Kombat Legacy.

[h=1]Jax, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11[/h]

[h=2]New story trailer shows generations of kombatants facing off[/h]

Mortal Kombat veterans Jackson “Jax” Briggs, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang are coming to Mortal Kombat 11, according to a new story trailer for NetherRealm Studios’ fighting game.
That video, fittingly set to Ice Cube’s “Check Yo Self” (with a little bit of Vince Staples’ “Blue Suede”), shows younger versions of Jax, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang squaring off against future versions of themselves. In the case of Jax, it’s alongside his daughter, Jacqui, against an older and wiser Jax. But in Kung Lao’s and Liu Kang’s cases, they’re up against evil revenant versions of themselves.
Johnny Cage gets in on the beat-yourself-up action, trading broken bones and pithy quips. Kung Lao and Liu Kang show off some variations on old fatalities. A major showdown between Liu Kang (bad guy version) and Raiden (good guy version) appears imminent with the whole Kombat crew on the sidelines. And NetherRealm looks like it’s having a hell of a lot of fun with Mortal Kombat 11’s time-twisting storyline.
Mortal Kombat 11 is headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23.

    What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
    I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
