The Flash Movie Will Focus on ‘Amateur’ Barry AllenThis year’s two DC Extended Universe films, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, grossed over $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office, but earned generally negative reviews from critics and were divisive among filmgoers in general. As such, the DCEU has undergone some course-correction, with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns now playing a bigger role in its development – including, co-writing the upcoming Wonder Woman movie and producing Justice League. There have been some issues elsewhere in the DCEU, though. The Flash lost its (second) director recently, as filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa announced his departure while citing creative differences as the driving factor. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter writer Seth Grahame-Smith had previously vacated that director’s chair, also due to creative differences. Despite this, WB intends for The Flash to make his solo DCEU film debut in 2018, following his proper introduction in Justice League. Though fans might raise their eyebrows over all this, it does not seem to have phased the DCEU’s Barry Allen himself, Ezra Miller (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them).Miller sat down with IGN to discuss The Flash and the direction being taken on the film. While acknowledging the difficulties that the movie has had along the path to the screen, Miller insists that “It’s the same project” as it has always been, and that it will delve into an untrained, not yet developed Barry Allen:“What I find fascinating is that we’re still very much amateur-hour Speedster.”While it’s previously been announced that The Flash will not be an origin story, in the comics it does take Barry Allen years to fully understand and master his powers. Even within the cinematic universe’s television counterpart on The CW’s The Flash, Grant Gustin’s (Glee) Barry Allen seems to learn new powers every season. Part of the charm of Barry Allen, in fact, is that he never does quite reach the limits of his powers, and his journey to improvement constantly plays an important role in the character – something that Miller acknowledged:“Like, I love this comic ‘Kingdom Come’ – unbelievable art – and in that The Flash is fully evolved, and you never even see him, right? It’s just like a red mist, and there’s no crime in [Keystone] City. He protects a whole chunk of the country.“So that wouldn’t make for the most interesting film – you know what I mean? What do we have to learn about that guy? That guy barely exists, right? He’s almost one with the Speed Force. So it’s interesting to go to the beginning.“It would be hard – you’d have to get Werner Herzog to make a movie about a bolt of lightning!”Setting aside how intrinsically awesome a Werner Herzog movie about a bolt of lightning would be, Miller does bring up an interesting point about The Flash. At his peak, Barry Allen barely needs to exist in order to fulfill his role as the fastest man alive. That’s neither an interesting movie nor character. Seeing him develop, even outside your standard origin story framework, makes a lot of sense.Miller’s continued enthusiasm for the character and the project might alleviate some of the fears and misgivings fans may have. Getting the character just right, especially with an already successful TV series competing against it, is going to take some work. Finding the right director for the job should is important, and better two directors leave for creative differences than the wrong director take the helm. Miller, for his part, seems more than up for the job.Source: IGN

The Flash: Kevin Smith Thinks Deadpool’s Tim Miller Should DirectWarner Bros. and DC Films were hit with bad news a few weeks ago when it was announced that director Rick Famuyiwa was leaving The Flash due to creative differences with the studio. This was the second time that the film lost a director who was officially attached, leaving Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen once again searching for help to get the movie going. Despite no word on possible replacements, Miller still believes the movie will begin production sometime this year, but that window is closing fast. While Warner Bros. is busy looking for a replacement, the search has caused plenty of people to come up with their own suggestions. If comic enthusiast, writer, and director Kevin Smith has it his way, WB will be calling up Tim Miller. On the most recent episode of Smith’s show Fatman on Batman, he and his co-host Marc Bernardin discussed the news of Famuyiwa leaving The Flash and brainstormed possible replacements. After initially suggesting the Wachowski’s as his pick, and considering names like Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright, Smith lit up with excitement when Bernardin suggested Tim Miller step in to direct the film.Miller is an obvious fan favorite thanks to his ability to bring Deadpool to life and to great box-office success. The choice is also a timely one, as the director has some free space in his schedule after leaving Deadpool 2 due to his own run-in with creative differences.Given how little is known about where Warner Bros. is focusing its search for a replacement, there’s no reason to think someone who managed to hit it out of the park with a potentially difficult property like Deadpool isn’t on a list somewhere. But as it is with these things, there’s been no mention of interest from the studio or from Miller himself. For now, everyone will have to wait and see who ends up being chosen as the third official director on The Flash. The project is one of the biggest jobs currently available in Hollywood, so the studio should have no trouble finding directors interested in taking the project on.The Flash already has started to round out the cast with Kiersey Clemons playing Iris West and Billy Crudup reportedly set to play Henry Allen, so any new director will likely have to agree to these casting choices. This could potentially change should the film be delayed as some have speculated, but it appears that WB is still going to try and meet the unconfirmed March 2018 release.Source: Fatman on Batman (via Comicbook)

[h=1]The Flash Movie: Fastest Man Alive Usain Bolt Wants to Cameo[/h]

Usain Bolt Wants To Be In The Flash Movie | MTV - YouTube

The DC Extended Universe continues to evolve and grow this year, despite 2016’s big releases Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad not picking up the greatest critical reviews. DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has now taken a bigger role within proceedings and is a producer on upcoming 2017 release Justice League, which will feature DC’s fastest man alive, Barry Allen.
Portrayed by Ezra Miller in the DCEU, the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them actor will be taking on the mantle of the Scarlet Speedster not only in the superhero team-up flick, but in his own solo movie The Flash, which is currently set for release next year. Though little has been revealed about what sort of villain(s) and/or plot will be covered in Miller’s DCEU solo superhero adventure, there is a real-life (fast) celebrity who has expressed their interest in making an appearance in the movie when it does hit the big screen.
Speaking to MTV, the world’s real-life fastest man alive Usain Bolt discussed whether he’d be willing to get involved in a superhero movie, and it looks like he has his eyes set on Barry Allen. He told the MTV interviewer: “That’d be pretty cool. That’d be really cool, maybe do a cameo in Flash or something.”

Big movie cameos are something that have worked for many studio films in the past, with perhaps the most obvious being Stan Lee’s appearances in each and every movie that’s a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They’re something that really gets casual audiences talking, which can only ever be a good thing in terms of promotion.
Seeing Usain Bolt at some point in The Flash film would certainly be an interesting thing. Barry Allen is known as being one of the goofier members of the DC Universe, so hopefully when the movie is injected with a little humor, the writers behind it are able to work Bolt into a small scene. His appearance could certainly do no harm to box office numbers for The Flash solo movie.
Of course, if Bolt is inserted simply for the sake of bringing another big name to proceeding then the film could face some super fan backlash. The integrity of the DCEU is something that’s constantly in question; whether bringing a real-life hero to that universe would do anything to improve that outlook, is something that remains to be seen.

[h=1]The Flash: DC Movies May Take Place in Keystone City Not Central City[/h]

We’re still a couple of years away from The Flash making his big screen debut when Ezra Miller’s take on the character joins the DCEU. Luckily, fans haven’t had to wait to see the Scarlet Speedster in action. Barry Allen first made a brief cameo in Batman v Superman early last year when he time-traveled back to confront Bruce Wayne in the Batcave to warn him of a coming catastrophe. We later saw him in action taking down some crooks at a convenience store during the scene where Batman checks through the files regarding the soon-to-be Justice League members.
It was even more of a surprise when The Flash showed up in Suicide Squad for a humorous scene of him taking down longtime rogue Captain Boomerang. After the cameo, fans are hoping the unicorn-loving Aussie will pop back up to tangle with Barry in the solo film as he learns how to be a hero. The full Justice League trailer gave us even more time with Barry, as Bruce uncovers his Flash Cave, sees his powers in action, and gets a dose of his awkward energy. Given the popularity of the CW’s The Flash, the movies have their work cut out for them in terms of differentiating the two properties. Part of that will be the new suit Barry will be rocking, which looks to be more armor-like than the one his TV counterpart wears.

Thanks to Suicide Squad viral site Argus-gov (via Comicbook.com), there may be one other way the two properties will put distance between them: namely, which city Barry and the Flash call home.

The shot above was found by a Redditor in the file for Slipknot, a character hyped by the marketing of Suicide Squad but who was killed rather unceremoniously early in the movie (in part thanks to Captain Boomerang). Though he likely won’t be reappearing in the DCEU, his criminal record might reveal some secrets about the future of the films. His move from Alabama to Keystone City confirms that the fictional town exists in DC’s cinematic world. In the comics, it’s the sister to Central City, the home of the Flash and setting for the DC TV show. Keystone is also the home of Iris West and her relative Wally, the third Speed Force user to carry the Flash mantle.
While the Easter egg could simply be a nod to Flash and DC lore, it might also mean the movies will shift Barry from Central to Keystone City in an effort to separate the film from the television series a bit more. Another possibility is that it’s teasing Wally West and that the character will also eventually pop up in the movies. While that would add another connection to the shows, the series will likely get to a number of classic comic book concepts and moments before the movies do, given that it will be in its fourth or fifth season by the time The Flash arrives on the big screen. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out as we get closer to the premiere date.
We’ll bring you more news on The Flash and all things DCEU as they emerge.

[h=1]The Flash Movie Hires New Writer[/h]

As part of their plan to grow the DC Extended Universe, one of the many movies Warner Bros. had planned for 2018 was The Flash. Ezra Miller landed the superhero gig and already has made two cameo appearances in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. 2017 is looking to be a big year for the young Barry Allen as he joins up with more super powered people in Justice League, ahead of what was scheduled to be a starring role in his own film a few months later.
However, The Flash has had a rocky pre-production process that has kept it from getting off the ground. Most recently, the project lost its second director, Rick Famuyiwa, over creative differences with the studio. Since then, updates on the project have been scarce, with the occasional exception being cast members confirming their continued involved. Now, the project is making another major change, as the studio has hired a new screenwriter to handle rewrites.
As reported by Variety, Warners has hired Joby Harold to rewrite the script previously written by Famuyiwa and Seth Grahame-Smith, the film’s first director. Harold’s credits as a writer are slim with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and the upcoming Robin Hood film being his two biggest credits, outside of Awake — a 2007 film he both wrote and directed. At present, there is no word on the reasoning behind the script needing to be rewritten.

This is just the latest step back that the project has taken over the last year, making it increasingly difficult to imagine it coming out before 2019. Variety‘s article points to the script holding back the director’s process, which now puts WB in a position where production can’t begin until Miller finishes filming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2. At one point, Miller had stated that production was going to begin at the end of 2016, but that has clearly not happened.
With Harold being the third official writer to take a stab at the story (which was initially cracked by Phil Lord and Chris Miller), there could be an ever-changing mindset as to what The Flash should ultimately be. There is no doubt that the film will heavily focus on Barry Allen, but Famuyiwa’s script also brought Cyborg into the film. However, that could be one of the creative differences that WB was not on board for.
How this project continues to develop is certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward. Once Harold’s page one rewrite is complete, WB will then be able to begin approaching potential directors and finally move forward with production. The longer this pre-production takes, the longer it will be before Flash leads his own film, and with WB having many other projects in development, it could easily get lost in the shuffle.

The Flash Director Shortlist Also Includes Sam Raimi

Yet another director’s name has been added to the shortlist of reported frontrunners for The Flash. The next DC Extended Universe movie, Wonder Woman, is only a few short weeks from being released and various cameos in last year’s Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set up Justice League, opening this fall. With both of those films and Aquaman already in some stage of production, the time appears to have come to find a director to helm The Flash solo movie.
The Flash TV show is already a solid success for The CW, so there is extra pressure on the writers and director to make sure the DCEU Flash movie can stand on its own and be done well. Both film and show are focused on the Barry Allen character – with Ezra Miller playing him in the DCEU – so whoever directs the DCEU film will need to tell Barry’s story in all the more interesting a way, without repeating what The Flash TV series has already done.

Several directors are being considered to direct The Flash, with both Matthew Vaughn and Robert Zemeckis being mentioned as contenders earlier today. And now it appears that a third candidate is being considered for the job too, according to THR: Sam Raimi.

Raimi certainly has a lot of experience when it comes to superheros. He wrote and directed the original superhero film Darkman, directed all three of the original Spider-Man movies, produced the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journey, and developed and produced the spin-off Xena: Warrior Princess. He is also a fan favorite considering his involvement in the cult horror-comedy films The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness; not to mention bringing that franchise to TV with Ash vs. Evil Dead on Starz, featuring his longtime collaborator Bruce Campbell. While those projects are not specifically superhero stories, they are very much about the character Ash learning how to be a hero in the face of horrible monsters.
By the time The Flash is in theaters, Miller’s Barry Allen will already have been well introduced in the DCEU. He was seen for brief moments in Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad but again, is one of the main characters of Justice League. Its possible his origin will have already been explained, by the time The Flash solo movie arrives, giving the latter more of a sequel vibe.
At this time, Zemeckis and Vaughn are considered the frontrunners, but Raimi’s experience in the superhero genre might give him enough of an edge to secure the job for himself – should Zemeckis and/or Vaughn pass on directing, for whatever reasons (see, for example, their workloads).

[h=1]The Flash: Billy Crudup & Sam Raimi Reportedly Passing on the Film[/h]

Actor Bill Crudup and in-the-running director Sam Raimi have both reportedly passed on The Flash. The DCEU outing for the Scarlet Speedster has proven to be one of the most arduous pre-productions for the Warner Bros. shared universe. It’s already been through two directors (Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa) and is currently undergoing a major rewrite, with its eventual production start and release window unclear (for sure its original 2018 date is incredibly unlikely).
Recently things looked like they may be moving around. Following up talk of meetings, Robert Zemeckis is reported by several sources to be the front-runner to direct, while the names of Matthew Vaughn and Sam Raimi have been thrown into the mix. Now it seems we can discount at least one of them.
EW is reporting that Raimi has passed on the project, along with The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Marc Webb. The news comes along with the unexpected development that Billy Crudup, who plays Barry Allen’s father Henry in Justice League, likely won’t be appearing in the film.

Raimi made his name with the Evil Dead trilogy and showed his blockbuster chops with the original Spider-Man films, the first two of which are still regarded as some of the best examples of the superhero genre. He previously clashed with studios – in this case Sony – on the third of that series, so it’s possible worry over Warner Bros. approach to the DCEU films got in the way. It’s interesting that fellow Spidey alum Webb (whose Amazing films were a reboot of Raimi’s) was also approached, reaffirming WB are casting a wide net and looking for someone with proven superhero form (or, in Zemeckis’ case, time travel).
As for Crudup, this is an even more surprising turn. It was presumed his part in Justice League was setting up a larger role in the standalone, possibly as “in” to a Reverse-Flash story. Of course, it may have simply been a favor on director Zack Snyder’s part to his Watchmen star (Crudup played Doctor Manhattan) – and if it ever was proper establishment that’s not going to be the case now. The actor had commented previously that the shooting schedule was unclear and with his involvement now stretching into the years, it’s not surprising he’d want to move to something more active, especially after the boost he’ll get from Alien: Covenant.
Where this leaves the film is unclear. Both remaining directors Zemeckis and Vaughn have other projects in the pipeline – Steve Carell’s Marwencol (due 2018) and Kingsman 3 respectively – which at best delays development.
However, while this is bad news for The Flash fans wanting a cinematic outing, the DCEU elsewhere is on an increasingly strong footing. Wonder Woman is just a few weeks out with solid box office projections, followed by Justice League in November, after which there are the currently-shooting Aquaman and a litany of other projects in development (including a clearly well-along-the-way Batgirl and Wonder Woman sequel).

New Flash Movie Script Reportedly ‘The Perfect Coming of Age’ Film

The Ezra Miller-led The Flash film has reportedly finalized its script after “many drafts and rewrites.” In the end, the movie will supposedly center Barry Allen’s struggle with coming to terms with the unique sets of special abilities that he has at such a young age.
Miller first debuted his new DC Extended Universe character in last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which a snippet of him speeding through a convenience store was viewed by Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) after stealing the file from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). And prior to what would be his first standalone film, he will appear in November’s ensemble project Justice League where he will expectedly have a meatier role.
The tip came from a popular Reddit subcommunity, r/DCEULeaks, where a user with the handle @WBUT7 recently posted a couple of rumored developments about the upcoming The Flash movie. In his updates, he claimed that the end-product of the film’s script makes everyone in Warner Bros happy about where they are in the pre-production process.
“The script has been completed and approved after MANY drafts and rewrites. The studio has finally approved a very good script, with some calling it ‘a perfect coming of age story regarding a young man trying to control his power’. There have not been that much more conversation regarding this film, although they have been very excited.”

On top of the script, the forum member also furthered that the gist of the story is mined from a specific comic book arc for Barry adding that “the name might not be ‘The Scarlet Speedster’ but that is a rumor ever since the script was turned in.” It is important to note that the film will not be an origin story. Like Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, the narrative for The Flash will be set after the events of Justice League.
Until now, The Flash film is arguably the property from the growing DCEU that has had the most kerfuffles getting into production. Its hunt for a director continues following the departure of Dope filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa who had been attached to the project last year. Thus far, there is a slew of rumored candidates that could be helming the flick including Matthew Vaughn and Robert Zemeckis.
Warner Bros has not confirmed nor denied these claims and unfortunately, it is more likely going to stay that way until they are ready to reveal concrete developments on it. The Flash film faces a bit of a unique and possibly harder challenge given that DC’s separate TV universe was able to successfully launch the character first with CW’s The Flash, which has just wrapped a solid third season.

[h=1]DC Chief’s Favorite Director Is Flash Frontrunner Robert Zemeckis[/h]

DC Films head honcho Geoff Johns has revealed that his favorite director happens to be Robert Zemeckis, giving fans cause to believe that the acclaimed filmmaker could be directing The Flash. Warner Bros. officially kicked off the DC Extended Universe with Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice last year, and that film’s events will continue through Snyder’s Justice League later in 2017, featuring the world’s finest heroes – Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) – unite against Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his Parademon army.

The next DCEU movie on the studio’s docket is James Wan’s Aquaman, though it was originally supposed to be The Flash. The studio announced The Flash movie three years ago, with the plan to have the film released in March 2018, written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and directed by Seth Grahame-Smith. However, Smith had later exited the project citing creative differences, with Dope director Rick Famuyiwa replacing him the following month. Unfortunately, Famuyiwa ended up dropping the project as well, thus leaving the anticipated DCEU movie without a director. In May, several top-tier directors had found their names attached to the project, such as Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman, X-Men: First Class), Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man), and Robert Zemeckis (Cast Away, Back to the Future) – with Lord and Miller joining later on, following their exit from Lucasfilm’s Han Solo movie. Out of all of them, Zemeckis was listed as the frontrunner to direct, though there hasn’t been any news since then.
Today, during Geoff Johns’ solo panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the DC chief revealed (via Twitter) that Zemeckis has been his favorite director for years, and that has caused fans to believe the reports regarding Zemeckis as the frontrunner to direct The Flash. Interestingly, Johns also revealed that he would love to make a Hulk movie, if he could acquire the character’s rights from Marvel (and Universal Pictures).
Geoff Johns says Zemeckis is his favorite movie director #SDCC

Although this shouldn’t be taken as confirmation that Zemeckis will be directing The Flash, Johns’ comments are intriguing, especially since they come mere days before DC Entertainment takes the stage during Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, where attendees should receive some concrete information regarding the DCEU’s future. It’s certainly possible that the studio has found a replacement director but is waiting until their panel to reveal the news. After all, it’s the biggest entertainment stage in the world.
If they don’t announce The Flash‘s director, then perhaps the studio will at least confirm the movie’s new release date. Since it hadn’t gone into production yet, the studio had removed the DCEU film from their 2018 release schedule and subsequently replaced it with one of their other tentpole films: Roar Uthaug’s upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, starring Alicia Vikander as the titular Lara Croft. Considering that the studio has dated two more unannounced DCEU films for 2020, it’s certainly possible that The Flash could take one of those dates, though we’ll just have to wait and see what happens this Saturday inside Hall H.

[h=1]DCEU Flash Movie Titled Flashpoint[/h]

Warner Bros. has confirmed a Flashpoint movie during their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. The studio officially launched their DC Extended Universe last year with Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – a follow-up to Snyder’s Man of Steel – and they followed up that movie with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. Now, they’re gearing up to unite the world’s finest heroes – Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) – against Steppenwolf and his Parademon army in Snyder’s Justice League this fall.

The next DCEU movie on the docket following Justice League is James Wan’s Aquaman in 2018 and then David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! in 2019. After that, the current DCEU lineup remains a mystery. The Flash was originally supposed to follow Justice League by releasing in March 2018. However, the movie lost multiple directors – both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa dropped the project in 2016, citing creative differences – thus forcing the studio to remove the film from their slate. The fact that Warner Bros. has struggled with maintaining a director for The Flash has ignited some concern among fans, especially since those filmmakers couldn’t agree with the studio with the direction of the story. It turns out, the studio has a specific story in mind that they want to tell.
During their Hall H panel at SDCC 2017 today, Warner Bros. unveiled a new logo for a Flashpoint movie, thus indicating plans to adapt the iconic 2011 comic book series of the same name — which was written by DC Films chief Geoff Johns and drawn by Andy Kubert — that relaunched the DC Universe and kickstarted The New 52.

Jumping right into Flashpoint for the character’s first solo movie is an interesting choice, though it’s worth noting again that Johns wrote the titular series that relaunched the entire DC Universe in 2011. For those that don’t know, in Flashpoint, the Flash had gone back in time and prevented the Reverse-Flash from murdering his mother, thereby creating an alternate timeline in which Superman had been captured by the government and Bruce Wayne had been murdered instead of his parents, with Aquaman and Wonder Woman leading their respective empires in a world-ending war against one another.
Since Bruce was killed in that alley on that fateful night instead of his parents, his mother, Martha, had gone mad seeing her son die and was driven to become the Joker (yes, the actual Joker), with his father, Thomas, becoming the Batman. This movie could present an opportunity for both Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan to reprise their Batman V Superman roles as Thomas and Martha Wayne, respectively, something Morgan has previously mentioned that he was up for doing. Stay tuned for more DCEU information as it comes out from SDCC 2017, including a possible release date for Flashpoint.

[h=1]What is Flashpoint?[/h]

During today’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con, Warner Bros. unveiled its updated film slate for the DC Extended Universe. Most of these films we already knew about – Suicide Squad 2, The Batman, Shazam, Justice League Dark, Wonder Woman 2, Green Lantern Corps, and Batgirlbut one film stood out as something new: Flashpoint.
Well, not entirely new, Warner Bros. has included The Flash starring Ezra Miller in their announced lineup for some time now, albeit without a release date. But the film has experienced a rocky production, shuffling through multiple screenwriters and directors. Last we heard, Robert Zemeckis was the frontrunner for the directing gig, while the most recent version of the script was being written by Joby Harold.
Titling the Flash movie Flashpoint isn’t just some clever re-branding, the name comes from a significant comic book story and provides some big clues as to the direction the film (and possibly the entire DCEU) is likely going to take. Along with those clues come questions, because a Flashpoint – as demonstrated earlier this year on The CW’s The Flash television series – is an event which usually comes with universe-altering consequences.
[h=2]What Is Flashpoint?[/h]

Flashpoint is a 2011 DC Comics story written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Andy Kubert, Alex Sinclair, and Sandra Hope, as well as a crossover event which spanned the entirety of DC’s ongoing comic series at the time. In it, Barry Allen wakes up in a world he does not recognize. He isn’t a speedster, there is no Justice League, and his fellow heroes are nothing like those he remembers. His mother is alive, though his father isn’t, having died of heart attack, but he was never sent to prison, either. (Win?)
Still, the fact that nothing is as it should be sends him to find Batman – only to discover that this Batman is not Bruce Wayne but his father, Thomas, who after the murder of his son (who died in his parents place) turned to vigilantism. Together, they recreate the accident which first gave Barry his powers, and on their second attempt, it works. Convinced it must be his arch enemy, Eobard Thawn,e A.K.A. the Reverse-Flash, who is responsible for wrecking the universe, they leave to track him down.
Over the course of the series, Flash and Batman – along with Cyborg, this reality’s greatest hero – rescue Kal-El from imprisonment in a government program where he’d been locked up since he was discovered as a child and prevented him from ever absorbing yellow sunlight and becoming Superman; get caught in the midst of Aquaman and Wonder Woman’s Amazonian-Atlantean War (the aftermath of a failed political marriage attempt); and eventually catch up with Thawne, who tells them it was not him who caused Flashpoint, but Barry.
Similarly to how it was adapted on The Flash television series, Thawne reveals that Barry traveled back in time and prevented him from killing Barry’s mother. He managed this by absorbing the Speed Force, which made Barry so powerful he shattered reality and altered everyone’s personal history. It also turned Thawne into a living paradox, meaning he no longer even needs Barry around to ensure he’ll exist. To set things right, Barry must return the past to the way it was and let his mother die by Thawne’s hands.
Upon his arrival back home, Barry retains his memory of the altered timeline but doesn’t notice the few ways in which the restored timeline still differs from what came before Flashpoint. From those small but significant changes came the New 52, itself a mystery of creation only now being fully explored in DC Comics’ Rebirth.
[h=2]How Will Flashpoint Impact The DCEU?[/h]

That’s the big question, isn’t it? How will the DCEU’s version of Flashpoint affect their established continuity? Like the comics, the movie could explore an entirely different DCEU – with drastically different versions of DC’s iconic heroes, totally new heroes, or different characters in those heroes’ roles. For example, a Flashpoint movie could introduce the Thomas Wayne version of Batman; actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who briefly appeared as Thomas Wayne in Batman vs. Superman and is already a big fan of the idea. Plus, by the time Flashpoint releases, there will likely have been a good number of DCEU films – obviously Justice League and Aquaman, but also Shazam!, Wonder Woman 2, and a potential Harley Quinn vs. The Joker among others – which should mean the dynamics and relationships of the DCEU’s many characters would be well-established and ready to be subverted.
Even if Warner Bros.’ isn’t interested in strictly adapting the Flashpoint comic, there’s plenty to be done with a film that offers the chance to mix up the franchise’s already established formula. Assuming Flashpoint is being written as a movie where Barry’s actions inadvertently alter reality, and even after restoring the timeline, some things remain altered, then Flashpoint could very well be a transformative film for the DCEU. It may be an opportunity for Warner Bros. to take stock of what has worked and what hasn’t at this junction of their DCEU slate. Some already believe this cinematic universe is undergoing a bit of course correction, but a plot device which can easily explain almost any change a studio would wish to make is clearly a better way of approaching a franchise-wide reset similar to X-Men: Days of Future Past – were that something Warner Bros. has interest in doing, which no one can really say for sure right now.
Either way, the magnitude of Flashpoint‘s announcementand its potential to radically alter (or even just tweak) what Warner Bros.’ is really only beginning to build with the DCEU is enormous. They’ve planted a seed that at this stage is just ripe with possibilities, teasing either a bold new direction for the future of the DCEU or just an exciting adventure in where Warner Bros. can play around with audience’s expectations of it characters. As it was in the comics, Flashpoint could be the first steps towards the DCEU’s very own Rebirth.

[h=1]Will Flashpoint Reboot the DCEU’s Timeline?[/h]

As DC Comics fans have no doubt gotten tired of hearing, the DC Extended Universe continues to be a troubled place. Its first three films (Man of Steel, Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad) – an ambitious slate mapped out largely by producer/director Zack Snyder charting a dark, edgy vision of a superhero universe – were released to massive fanfare only to be met by puzzled audiences and legendarily poor reviews from critics. Ben Affleck dropped out of directing The Batman, then saw his partially self-composed screenplay tossed out by the new director, Justice League has undergone extensive reshoots, widespread gossip of behind the scenes power-struggles and was recently revealed to have also been rocked by a tragic death in the family of director Snyder; who has now left the project in the typically capable hands of Joss Whedon. To date, the sole unquestionable success of the entire production has been the most recent installment, Wonder Woman.

Officially, Warners is still charging ahead with Justice League and the broader universe of spin-offs and tie-ins set to project out from its release. But many are reading between the lines to see a studio in upheaval and trying to perform damage control repairs while also largely retooling a mega-franchise whose original overriding aesthetic (darker, director-driven “gritty” brand-reimaginings inspired by brutal late-80s/early-90s graphic novel hits like Death of Superman and The Dark Knight Returns) has proved to be a non-starter with many audiences and has earned the near-universally divisive responses from critics.
At times when DC’s comic book universe has faced this kind of uncertainty about its own future (whether the present were profitable or not), the publisher always had a favorite solution: Launch a major crossover (usually but not always called some kind of “Crisis”) and reboot the whole timeline using the plot excuse of reality itself having been yanked off-axis to allow any changes they may want to take place. DC line-wide reboots have deleted The Infinite Earths, brought them back, powered-up and de-powered Superman, turned Donna Troy into a dozen different people and in the new Doomsday Clock maxiseries will be folding The Watchmen into the DCU-proper for the first time. One of the most substantive recent reset-button events, however, was called Flashpoint – and that title just got a lot more significant to DCEU movie fans.

Freshly announced at San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros has revealed that the Ezra Miller-starring Flash movie (another notoriously troubled production: Two director drop-outs, multiple scripts, significant production delays) will be called Flashpoint. The movie will presumably adapt (to an unspecified degree) the storyline from the comics, which saw the speed-running hero Barry Allen attempt to use time travel to prevent the death of his mother and inadvertently created a dystopian future of unintended consequences. Further attempts to rearrange the history of the DCU back into place were ultimately used to explain the radical changes to mythos and continuity of DC’s line-wide “Rebirth” initiative.
Given that, it’s understandable that many DCEU fans are now asking themselves if the Flashpoint movie might be put to the same use: With actor commitments, filmmaker hirings and character focus changing rapidly and Warner Bros intimating that an overhaul of their superhero approach is being sought in the wake of Wonder Woman’s surprise mega-success, is the studio planning to follow the example of the comics and use Barry Allen’s reality-warping missteps in Flashpoint as a way to write themselves out of a jam – or several jams? It’s not as implausible as some might initially think. By the time Flashpoint is out, audiences will have already been asked to absorb the cosmic-scale time-bending action in Avengers: Infinity War and the staggering weirdness of Jack Kirby’s “New Gods” concepts in Justice League, not to mention a very similar approach that was used in the X-Men universe with Days of Future Past several years ago. Will accepting some variation on “Oh no! I changed the past and now several of my friends are played by different actors!?” be that much of a stretch by then?

If not, the question becomes what sort of changes the studio could see Flashpoint as the shortcut to making. Obviously, if Ben Affleck were to have changed his minds about spending Robert Downey Jr amounts of time in a superhero role, time-travel shenanigans being blamed for Bruce Wayne looking suddenly different would be the most expected change. Maybe resurrections for characters like Johnathan Kent, Zod or Steve Trevor? Major costume changes for the likes of Superman or The Flash himself? Design changes overall away from the grimy darkness that has characterized the franchise to this point? Or maybe the focus would be on willing thus-far missing fan-favorite supporting characters like Supergirl or Batgirl (whose ability to appear in her own movie despite no mention of her elsewhere has yet to be explained) into existence without tedious origins.
As we’ve already covered, this approach isn’t likely to instigate a universe-wide reboot, but the title “Flashpoint” understandably carries its fare share of baggage, and DC knows that when fans hear “Flashpoint” they hear “things are changing.” The full nature or extent of these changes has yet to be revealed, but in a universe that has already pit the Dark Knight against the Man of Steel and shown us the death of Superman, it’s unlikely we’ll see them make a Flashpoint movie with zero repercussions.
Whatever happens – and whatever it ultimately means or doesn’t mean – what’s certain is that a simple title change has turned Flashpoint into one of the can’t miss features of the entire DCEU slate. Now, if it can just find a director.

[h=1]The Flash: Flashpoint Movie Recruits Drive Production Designer[/h]

The production designer behind Drive and Only God Forgives has reportedly joined the DC Extended Universe’s The Flash solo movie, Flashpoint, starring Ezra Miller. It’s been a few years since DC and Warner Bros announced their original slate of DCEU films and things have changed considerably in that time. Projects like Nightwing and Gotham City Sirens have since joined the cause, while solo films for Black Adam and Batgirl have also been added. Other planned DCEU movies faced multiple setbacks, none more so than Flashpoint.
While Miller will make his proper debut as The Flash this year in Justice League, The Flash solo film has evolved a good deal and gone through two different directors at this stage in its development. These changeups have pushed the film from its originally-announced 2018 release date to a potential date in 2020 instead. The search for a new director is still ongoing (officially, anyway), but the movie now has both a more official title – thanks to the Flashpoint announcement made at San Diego Comic-Con this summer – and, reportedly, a key member of its production team in place.

Omega Underground is reporting that Beth Mickle has been hired as the production designer for Flashpoint. Mickle is best known for her work on the Nicolas Winding Refn-directed films Drive and Only God Forgives. She’s also worked on a number of other Ryan Gosling-led movies, but it’s her work crafting the lush worlds of those two Refn projects that should get fans excited to see what she brings to the DCEU.

Only God Forgives

Mickle’s other credits include HBO’s latest period drama series The Deuce, which could also come in handy for Flashpoint. Given how much The Flash can play with time, and how much the comic book version of Flashpoint is all about alternate realities, we could see some different period elements in Flashpoint. If nothing else, the movie is sure to feature some inventive environments and Mickle seems like a great choice to realize them.
As for Flashpoint‘s director search: it has been reported that Robert Zemeckis is among the frontrunners (and may be the frontrunner) for the job, though there are other potential candidates (see the rumors about Phil Lord and Chris Miller being in talks to helm Flashpoint). Whereas The CW’s The Flash TV show’s version of Flashpoint was only able to carryover so many elements from the original comic book storyline, the hope is that whoever does call the shots on the DCEU’s Flashpoint film will take advantage of that fact that the movie can be a far more faithful adaptation, by comparison.

[h=1]Wonder Woman Confirmed to Appear in Flashpoint DCEU Movie[/h]

Gal Gadot’s return as Wonder Woman for the Flashpoint movie has essentially been confirmed. Although many questioned the decision to cast Gadot initially, any doubt over her ability to embody the Wonder Woman character has since vanished. She made a good first impression in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice despite limited screen time, but burst onto the big screen this summer, as Wonder Woman dominated the box office. She has also received a bigger push in the marketing for Justice League as a result, with her potentially shaping up to be the face of the DC Extended Universe from heron out.
Warner Bros. is looking to make that the case the best they can by fast-tracking Wonder Woman 2 for a 2019 release. Outside of that, there were reports last month stating that Wonder Woman will appear in Flashpoint as well. Now, that return appears to have been finalized.

In a report focusing on one of Gadot’s next non-DCEU roles, Deadline also touched upon her future in the DC Comics cinematic universe. In doing so, they confirmed that she will reprise her role as Wonder Woman in Flashpoint, among other DCEU installments down the line. While this doesn’t come directly from Warner Bros., it is the second source to report that Gadot will appear in Ezra Miller’s Flash solo movie and can be taken as confirmation, especially if the Flashpoint movie follows the source material.

The confirmation of Gadot is not surprising, as Wonder Woman plays a big role in the Flashpoint comic arc that the film will be based on. In this alternate reality comic book story, Wonder Woman serves as the villain along with Aquaman. Superman, Cyborg, and the Thomas Wayne version of Batman also appear, so confirmations of Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, and/or Jeffrey Dean Morgan showing up in the Flashpoint movie could be arriving in the coming months.
That said, Flashpoint still has quite a ways to go before it hits theaters and audiences get to see Gadot back on the big screen again. WB has yet to officially name a director, but the latest report names Robert Zemeckis as the favorite to direct. Once a director is named, said helmsman will then have to finalize the script. The studio is reportedly looking at 2020 for the release of Flashpoint, so they still have plenty of time to figure all these things out.
Should that targeted release year be true, then it would mark consecutive years that Gadot appears as Wonder Woman. Plus, if WB/DC find a way for her to cameo in Aquaman as well, she could string together five years in a row of making at least one appearance as the DCEU’s Wonder Woman.

[h=1]Rumor: Flashpoint Will Depend on Justice League Reception[/h]

Warner Bros. is reportedly waiting to see how Justice League performs before determining the future of the DC slate, a decision that has put Flashpoint and several other projects in limbo. WB is in the final push to get Justice League out in theaters, and hopefully launching their DC movie universe to the next level. The now storied production has not been without controversy recently, thanks to a shorter than expected runtime, but, this movie will serve as a true expansion to this world, and how well Justice League does is important for the franchise’s future.
Justice League may be fifth film in this universe, but WB has wasted no time putting dozens of ideas into development. Most recently, it has been Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke possibly getting the solo movie treatment, but there are countless other characters waiting for their shot. This includes solo movies for a few Justice League members – including Ezra Miller’s Flash – and the future of those movies will depend on how well Justice League does in the coming weeks.

Variety reporter Justin Kroll was on Meet the Movie Press this week and the discussion eventually turned to Justice League. In this discussion (around the 28 minute mark), Kroll stepped in to give “an insider tidbit” about Warner Bros.’ state of mind regarding the future of this universe. Kroll reveals that he’s heard the studio is taking a step back and waiting to see how well Justice League performs financially (and critically) before moving forward with multiple films a year. He says he’s been tracking directors for Flashpoint and other DC films, but has heard they’re slowing those searches down.

This is not the first time reports have surfaced that Warner Bros. is in a bit of a holding pattern when it comes to their DC future. Back in May, Forbes writer Mark Hughes shared similar information that Justice League‘s success will determine future films. But in the months that followed, more reports have surfaced of new DC movies in development or updates that some films have continued to make progress. Now that two separate sources have shared similar information months apart, it is clear the studio is waiting to make significant announcements.

There have still been plenty of updates on the future of DC’s presence on the big screen though. Suicide Squad 2 landed Gavin O’Connor as writer/director; Wonder Woman 2 was confirmed; Deathstroke got his own movie; and Shazam! pushes ahead at full steam and now has Zachary Levi attached to star. Of note, though, these projects (aside from Wonder Woman 2) are all for movies about non-Justice League members, meaning those characters are likely the ones DC is being tentative with, understandably since they’re the most well known characters they’re dealing with.
Kroll notes that the solo film model may not be the future of this universe, making the change to Flashpoint even more understandable as it can serve as an unofficial sequel to Justice League by bringing all those characters back. The hosts also note that Cyborg (and possibly even Deathstroke) could be years away from happening, or (potentially) never happening at all. WB has no shortage of options to keep DC content on the big screen, but now it is up to them to deliver with Justice League and figure out what the future holds for Flashpoint and others.

[h=1]Ezra Miller Wants Thomas Wayne Batman In Flashpoint Movie[/h]

Flashpoint star Ezra Miller really hopes the Thomas Wayne version of Batman will show up in the movie—especially if he’s played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. After losing two directors and just as many writers, the prospect of The Flash getting a solo movie has greatly diminished since its announcement a few years back. That all seemed to change this summer, however, when DC announced Flashpoint would be the film’s new title. The news not only showed the film was still a priority, but clued fans into what aspects of the comics could make it to the big screen.
Flashpoint as a story has already been adapted into an animated film and loosely inspired an arc on The Flash TV show. The gist of the plot involves Barry Allen traveling back in time and saving his mother’s life, thus creating a radical new reality. In it, all sorts of heroes and villains have swapped places, while characters like Aquaman and Wonder Woman have become competing warlords. That latter bit may make it into the film as Wonder Woman has been confirmed for Flashpoint. Fans, meanwhile, are hoping another aspect of the comic makes it to the film: Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas becoming a darker version of Batman.
[h=3]

ComicBook
spoke with Ezra Miller about Flashpoint and asked the actor what he though of the Thomas Wayne take on Batman making it into the movie. For his money, it’s an essential part of the story and would be a welcome addition to the film.[/h]

Advertising [x]

“I think that the emotional arc of the Thomas Wayne stuff in Flashpoint is one of the illest [parts]. And to see that different manifestation of Batman and his whole different style.”

While Miller doesn’t confirm or deny anything, it’s certainly encouraging that he enjoys the story point. He went on to describe why he thinks Thomas Wayne would work in the DCEU.
“And I love the reality that you have this universe that is so inverted from the one that we know. And this one factor remains the same, but in this flipped way. Batman is steady, but it’s going to be the result of a different side of the same tragedy with Thomas Wayne instead of Bruce, and that’s dope.”

The other big fan wish when it comes to seeing Thomas Wayne as Batman is the chance for Jeffrey Dean Morgan to tackle the anti-hero role. After all, Batman V Superman saw Supernatural and The Walking Dead co-stars Morgan and Lauren Cohan as Thomas and Martha Wayne, and both of those shows have proven how menacing the actor can be. Miller agreed when asked about Morgan in the role, saying “Oh, hell yeah. I think he’s amazing.”
Despite the enthusiasm for the casting decision, there’s still a big caveat when it comes to Flashpoint. Last month, word broke that The Flash solo movie depends on Justice League‘s success. Of course, the film is on track for a big opening and Miller’s Flash certainly looks to be a highlight. If all goes well, some solid movement on Flashpoint might arrive before the year’s end.

[h=1]The DCEU Will Be ‘Torn Asunder’ By Flashpoint[/h]

The news that Warner Bros. and DC Films are planning a Flashpoint adaption for Ezra Miller’s The Flash has been a source of great speculation by fans. In a recent interview Ezra Miller seemingly confirmed some of that speculation, by admitting the movie has the potential to rip the current continuity of the DCEU apart.
For those who are unaware, Flashpoint gets its name from a comic book arc from 2011. Penned by writer Geoff Johns, who has taken a lead creative role in the DCEU, the comic version of Flashpoint saw Barry Allen run back in time to save his mother from being murdered. Yet what was meant to be an act of heroism turned out to be as disaster as saving his mother caused Barry to completely flip the timeline of his world and eventually resulted in the DC Universe being rebooted completely in the New 52. (Although recently the source of the changes in the DCU have been retconned.) If taken at face value, Miller’s comments suggest the movie version of Flashpoint will do the exactly the same.
[h=4]In an interview with EW, Miller said of the planned Flash standalone film:[/h]

What fans understand when they hear Flashpoint would be almost like hearing a word like ‘Crisis.’ We start to understand that our precious DC universe will inevitably be torn asunder to an endless, headache-inducing fabric of multiversality. The DC Hyper-Extended Multiverse, as I plan to call it. Quote me!

If The Flash‘s standalone movie does move forward and it adapts the Flashpoint storyline, it won’t be the first time that has happened. An animated movie was created retelling the story of the arc, and The CW’s Flash TV series tackled Flashpoint at the beginning of season 3. Yet in both cases the impact of the story was very limited. The animated film wrapped up most plot threads in the one standalone movie, and The Flash season 3 saw Barry revert to the original timeline (with few lasting changes) within a couple of episodes. Miller’s comments suggest the DCEU’s version of the tale will have much bigger consequences.
Miller makes it sound like Flashpoint will offer an opportunity to reboot the universe, or at the very least, introduce brand-new elements to its world, such as the multiverse. With rumors that Flashpoint‘s existence is dependent on Justice League’s success, a reboot would make more sense. The DCEU could use the Flash-centric movie to completely re-tool the universe and characters that have been created so far. Flashpoint could allow DC Films to cherry-pick elements of the movies and, to use Miller’s verbiage, “tear asunder” what’s been unpopular about the DCEU, but still keep the elements that fans and critics enjoy most.
However, it should also be mentioned that Miller is known to be rather excitable in interviews, especially when it comes to the status of the DCEU and his place in it. Although his comments imply some universe shifting events, it could end up being much more mundane and limited than expected. It’s probable that Flashpoint will be larger in large scale than any previous adaptation of the story, but it still could all end up getting wrapped up in a single movie and have no real impact on the rest of the DCEU.

[h=1]The Flashpoint Movie Needs Cyborg, NOT Batman[/h]

WARNING: This article contains minor SPOILERS for Justice League–
The Flashpoint Batman joining the DCEU may be every fan’s dream, but Justice League proves that a Cyborg team-up is what the solos Flash movie really needs. We’re as surprised as any DC fan to say it, since the idea of ‘Thomas Wayne becoming Batman in an alternate DCEU’ sells itself. The studio obviously agrees, with Geoff Johns describing Flashpoint as a “Batman story.” But as exciting as it may be for fans to dream of how the Flash solo movie may reset DC’s entire universe, it seems a shame to throw out the chemistry and potential in Barry Allen’s friendship with Victor Stone.
As one of Justice League‘s undisputed bright spots, the scenes shared between stars Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher show why rumors of a Flash/Cyborg team-up movie surfaced so early after casting. Given the state of DC’s movie universe, it only makes sense to build on that partnership in Barry Allen’s solo story. Whether or not the movie Flashpoint reboots the DCEU, Barry Allen will need a friendly face beside him when he does it.
There may be a role for Thomas Wayne to play in the Flashpoint movie, but if Cyborg takes on the spotlight next to The Flash instead, DC can succeed in making BOTH standouts for the future. Allow us to explain how.
[h=3]RELATED: How Justice League Sets Up The DCEU Flashpoint[/h][h=2]The Original Flashpoint Teams Barry With Batman[/h]

As any fan of DC Comics will be quick to explain, Flashpoint may be a Barry Allen adventure – but it’s the alternate universe Batman who challenges him for the spotlight. In fact, it’s the Dark Knight who demonstrates just how much carnage Flash wrought by traveling back in time to save his mother’s life… but not the way readers would expect. When Barry finds his way into the Batcave to seek assistance from one of his best Justice League friends, he’s shocked to find himself attacked instead of embraced. The alternate universe Barry created is one in which he never became a speedster. Never met Batman, either.
But when this timeline’s Batman is revealed to be Thomas Wayne, Barry understands that due to the ripples of his one change, a boy and his mother died in Crime Alley instead of a future hero’s parents.
The story shows how important Bruce’s character really is to him becoming a disciplined vigilante, since Thomas Wayne is consumed by anger and grief, channeling his rage into greater violence and darkness than his son ever did beneath the cape and cowl. Eventually, the promise of a world in which his son survives convinces Thomas to help Barry get his powers back and set the universe right. And in a heartfelt final twist, provides Barry with a letter from Thomas to his dead son – to deliver to his son, having never really known his father.

It’s that kind of emotional story and resonance throughout the DC Universe that makes Ezra Miller want Flashpoint Batman to be a part of the story. And for his part, Jeffrey Dean Morgan wants to play Batman anywhere, anytime.
Thanks to Zack Snyder’s casting, adapting this specific Flashpoint story means Morgan would play a major role as Thomas Wayne’s version of Batman (with the Watchmen star even suggesting Zack Snyder intended him to be Batman in just such a twist). And when it was confirmed that DC’s planned Flash movie would share the title, Morgan joked that he and co-star Lauren Cohan knew what Flashpoint meant for Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Remember when we said Martha Wayne also died in that alley? We mean that the woman she was ceased to exist. Her grief drove her into murderous madness, becoming the Flashpoint timeline’s version of The Joker. So yes, a Flashpoint movie could introduce yet another version of The Joker to DC’s movie universe.

[h=2]A Cyborg Team-Up is Easier & More Powerful[/h]

Yes, we know: there’s already a role for Cyborg in Flashpoint. But considering that role is helping Flash and Batman track down a captured and malnourished Superman to help end a global war between Aquaman and Wonder Woman, we would suggest the story needs some streamlining. Unless, of course, DC Films wants to turn this Flashpoint movie into a Justice League sequel filled with nightmare versions of beloved heroes (seeming less and less likely these days). And as compelling a character as the Flashpoint Batman may be to fans, we would point out that Flash’s strongest connection in his Justice League debut was with a different hero. One that makes a lot more sense for him to seek out upon arrival in Flashpoint – and whose own story seems too rich and meaningful to pass up.
How do you use Flashpoint to build on the friendship between Barry Allen and Victor Stone, while maintaining the themes of Flashpoint? Simple: have Barry meet a version of Victor that never became Cyborg at all. That isn’t to say that Thomas Wayne should be removed completely, but his meaning to the core Flashpoint story doesn’t take much time to get across (and his reason to assist Barry isn’t one to wrestle over). Victor Stone, on the other hand, is a brilliant university student who would believably be Barry’s only hope of grasping and unlocking his superpowers and repairing the timeline.
A timeline correction that means very different things to these two men. As Victor and Barry note in Justice League, they are “the accidents” of the team, transformed into superhumans against their will. But with Flashpoint, that involuntary fate is placed in their own hands.

Barry needs Victor’s help to recreate his accident so he can get back his life… which dooms Victor to the horrible accident that completely destroys his own. Barry giving up his mother in the original story is heartbreaking, but add in Victor giving up his hopes and dreams – again – and you’ve got a premise that could make BOTH heroes shine.

Based on Justice League and the actors’ chemistry in person, there’s little doubt the two could carry a film (with some help from a Wonder Woman cameo or a Thomas Wayne Batman to show audience the real stakes). And with our proposed premise, DC could kill two birds with one stone, using Flashpoint to show what two Justice Leaguers are willing to sacrifice instead of one.
Now the only question is whether DC Films is even willing to tackle a premise so poignant, or avoid such drama entirely for an action comedy, instead. And perhaps most importantly, if they’re confident enough to choose not to include Batman in a DC adventure.
Place your bets now.

[h=1]Ben Affleck May Reprise Batman for Flashpoint Movie[/h]

Ben Affleck is expected to play Batman one more time in the Flashpoint movie, reuniting him with Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka. The Flash.
For months now, the future of Ben Affleck’s Batman has been up in the air. We’ve had rumor after rumor that Affleck was considering moving on from the role. Until now, those have been denied, but the latest reports suggest there was an element of truth to them after all. Matt Reeves, it would appear, is looking to recruit a new actor to play the Caped Crusader in The Batman.
Related: The Batman to Recast Ben Affleck
That said, fans will be relieved to hear that Affleck’s tenure isn’t quite over yet. According to Variety, Affleck may well play the role one last time. He’s expected to appear in the Flash’s first solo film, Flashpoint, expected to release in 2020. No doubt this is partly due to the strong mentor/student dynamic between Affleck’s Batman and Ezra Miller’s Flash in Justice League, easily one of the film’s highlights.

2011’s Flashpoint was one of the most important events in DC comic book history. It featured Barry Allen attempting to travel back to the past and save his mother’s life. As a result, he unwittingly rewrote the DC timeline, creating a dark reality in which Aquaman and Wonder Woman were at war. Perhaps the most fascinating twist of all was an inversion of the traditional Batman mythos. In the Flashpoint timeline, it had been Bruce Wayne who were gunned down in an alley. The grief-stricken Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s father, had donned the cowl and become a far more violent version of Batman.
In the end, Flash traveled back and succeeded in restoring something closely resembling the original timeline. But it wasn’t an exact match; DC used the rewriting of history as a sort of reset button, making a number of key changes to their franchises as part of the “New 52” initiative. This allowed them to correct perceived mistakes of the past, and to launch the entire DC comic book universe in a whole new direction.
It’s easy to see why the nascent DCEU is ripe for a Flashpoint event. So far, the films have hardly been critical successes. Worse still, with the exception of Wonder Woman, every film has seen a diminishing box office return. Something about the DCEU just isn’t quite resonating with casual viewers, and Flashpoint could again serve as a universal reset. Crucially, rewriting history would be a neat way of allowing Batman to be recast without causing massive continuity problems. If Reeve opts for a younger Batman, for example, there’s no issue; the timeline has simply been rewritten.
If Variety‘s report is accurate, then Flashpoint will likely serve as a stepping-off point for Affleck. He’s had a troubled experience as the Dark Knight, with fans reacting to his original casting with disdain. Although Affleck’s performance in Batman V Superman swiftly won them over, the poor critical reception of the DCEU to date seems to have hit Affleck hard. It comes as no surprise that he’s moving on, but we’ll hopefully get to see him (at least) one last time.

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
