It doesn't need to hit 90 to beat Ori 2, since it's competing with full priced games (in the biggest markets for AAA games, anyway)...such as Psychonauts 2 
Also, to further highlight how full of crap this theory is, Hades sweeped CerebralTiger's prestigious Oscars while going against "biggest market of AAA games"

The fact that a $25 game ( ahem $8 for me, thank you Steam) was nominated and won the most prestigious awards among the “biggest AAA games” goes to show how little the price was a factor when determining its quality

The $25 price was obviously factored into both its critical reception as well as its awards wins. Value for money is always a consideration 
Ori 2 is good value for money at $30, as evident from its critical reception. Metroid Dread is good value for money at $60 (lol @ a 2D game for $60).

There is absolutely no criteria of price or "value for money" when your holy grail of "Oscars" are judging games. Hades was the undisputed winner based on its quality. The sooner you accept that reality the better for you

The EMMI encounters are so exhilarating and so well-designed. This is Metroidvania combat and level design at its finest. Metroid Dread ought to be a case study for how, despite a plethora of imitators over the years, none ever really came close to the majesty of the Queen
Even if the idea that a 90 leaves an 89 in the dust can somehow be entertained, the price disparity alone leaves that argument in the dust
Considering that people think Ori was "barely a 90", looks like the "queen" is not only lacking quality and is struggling to even reach 90, but is also having a hard time justifying its price tag
An 89 isn't the equivalent of "hard time justifying its price tag" because an 82 @ $60 is considered excellent with some caveats
Imagine if the game's metascore ends up at 90. Yikes!
