It has been over three months since news first broke of Marvel and Fox joining forces to produce a pair of X-Men TV series, Hellfire and Legion, for FOX and FX, respectively. While the announcement wasn’t quite on the scale of say, a full-on Fantastic Four acquisition, it still appeared to be a step in the right direction for the two, leading some to speculate that a closer working relationship could soon be established in the cinematic realm, not unlike Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man agreement.
Hellfire is in a state of turnaround at the moment, having lost its showrunners just a few weeks ago, but the development process for Legion has been picking up some serious steam as of late. After Fargo‘s Rachel Keller was cast as the series’ female lead early last month, FX president John Landgraf confirmed Legion would take place in a parallel universe to the X-Men movies, and would therefore not be a part of the film franchise’s continuity. Though the latter announcement may have been a disappointment to some, today’s news will likely be a bit more well-received.

FX has now confirmed that Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Dan Stevens (The Guest), and Jean Smart (Fargo) have all joined the cast of Legion, with production on the pilot episode set to begin next month. In addition to the casting announcement, the actors’ official character descriptions have also been released:
DAVID (Dan Stevens) – Diagnosed as schizophrenic at a young age, David is a haunted man, trying to find his way back to sanity, but he’s getting tired and is about to give up when he meets the girl of his dreams.
LENNY (Aubrey Plaza) – David’s friend, who despite a life of drugs and alcohol abuse, knows that any day now her life is gonna turn around, which gives Lenny the likeable energy of the impossible optimist despite her rough demeanor.
MELANIE (Jean Smart) – A nurturing, demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods.
SYD (Rachel Keller) – Self-sufficient and street smart, Syd uses her sharp and prickly demeanor to protect her soft core, because even though it makes her a sucker and puts her at risk, she still believes in happily ever after.

The news that Plaza, who can currently be seen sharing the screen with Robert De Niro and Zac Efron in the gross-out comedy Dirty Grandpa, has joined a comic book project should go over well with most fans, especially considering that Legion appears primed to make full use of both her comedic and dramatic talents. The 31-year-old is a natural fit for the series’ adult-themed content.
Stevens has been on Screen Rant’s superheroic radar since his role in the 2014 thriller, The Guest. In the comics, David Haller is the son of Professor X himself, Charles Xavier, though it is unclear at this point whether or not the series will address his parentage. Jean Smart’s casting as an anti-Nurse Ratchett-type is a welcome one as well. The three-time Emmy winner is a welcome talent to any series, and if her work in Fargo season 2 is any indication, she’ll be right at home in a series described by producer Simon Kinberg as the “Breaking Bad of superhero stories.”
As Legion continues to add to its already impressive cast, it is quickly becoming one of the more exciting new comic book series planned for the coming year. Whether or not the series actually makes its debut at some point in 2016 remains to be seen, but whenever it does premiere on FX, the cast alone might be enough to draw a sizable audience.
FX has yet to set an official premiere date for Legion, though it is believed to be on track for a late-2016 release.

[h=1]X-Men Legion Pilot Casts Jeremie Harris; Filming Starts in March[/h]

Marvel Studios opened the door to a shared cinematic universe both on the big screen and on television – at least in the current era of superhero popularity – with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter both existing in the MCU continuity. On the other hand, the various DC Comics television series are separate from the DC Extended Universe, though they may exist within their own multiverse. Now, although FX is teaming with Marvel and 20th Century Fox to develop two series based on X-Men, Hellfire and Legion, they will be separate from the current universe.
FX is currently in the middle of casting the Legion pilot, though at the Television Critics Association 2016 winter press tour network president John Landgraf said he has seen scripts for multiple episodes. Now, a new series regular joins the cast with a production start date in mind.

THR is reporting that Jeremie Harris (The Get Down) has joined the cast of Legion with filming expected to begin in March. He joins the previously cast Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) as well as Jean Smart and Rachel Keller (Fargo). The show will follow David Haller (Stevens) – who takes on the name of Legion in the comics – a diagnosed schizophrenic who has spent much of his time since his teenage years in and out of mental hospitals. But, “after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he is confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.”

FX tapped Fargo’s Noah Hawley to pen the Legion pilot script. He’ll also serve as executive producer alongside Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse), Fox’sX-Men universe architect Simon Kinberg, Jim Chory (Marvel’s Daredevil) and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb. Hawley’s Fargo collaborator John Cameron is also set to executive produce.
As we’ve seen in recent years, the rise in popularity of comic book properties has caused a boom of superhero stories on not only the big screen, but television as well. But, not all superhero TV series are created equal, with some unable to stand out from the rest. TNT recently cancelled their in-developmentTeen Titans series because of so many other superhero stories currently on television – and NBC’sConstantine wasn’t able to gain the success the network wanted, getting cancelled after one season.
That being said, Legion is certainly assembling a cast who lend themselves more toward grounded and dramatic series. Additionally, with Kinberg calling Legion the “Breaking Bad of superhero stories,” it seems the X-Men show could take a different path than the other comic book shows on ABC, CBS, Fox, and The CW. Certainly, if Legion takes on the more adult tone of Marvel/Netflix’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones, it could prove to be just as successful and critically well-received as those series while carving out its own corner of the superhero TV landscape.

FX has yet to set an official premiere date for Legion, though it is believed to be on track for a late-2016 release.

[h=1]X-Men TV Pilot Legion Adds Amber Midthunder To its Cast[/h]

It’s full steam ahead for the production of FX’s X-Men pilot Legion. Filming for the pilot is set to beginnext month, and marks the first of two planed X-Men series to be co-produced by Fox and Marvel. WhileLegion’s sister series Hellfire has experienced some setbacks in the pre-production stage, losing its showrunners just as things we getting off the ground, Legion appears to be on the fast track with hopes of a pickup already running high.
While the series won’t be a part of the X-Men film franchise continuity, Legion seems set to cash in on the superhero craze currently taking over the worlds of TV and film, and could represent a strong partnership between Marvel and Fox. Recently, FX made a few casting decisions for the series, having assembled a lineup that now includes Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), and Jean Smart (Fargo). Now, just as filming is about to begin, FX has made another intriguing casting addition.
Deadline has reported that Amber Midthunder (Banshee, Longmire) has been added to the cast. Little has been revealed about her character or the role she’ll play in the series, but her addition adds more talent to a series that’s already full of quality actors. Midthunder will be playing Kerry, and her description (see below), provided by Deadline, offers limited insight into who she might be.
“Kerry [is] a woman of action with a childlike sense of wonder. A true savant, Kerry has lived a sheltered, but never dull life.”

Legion is set to follow the story of David Haller (Stevens) who is better known to comic readers as Legion: the illegitimate son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier. Haller is a schizophrenic, affected by mysterious voices since his youth who, in the comics, is also imbued with psionic powers (not unlike his father). X-Men: Apocalypse screenwriter and series producer Simon Kinberg has previously compared Legion to Breaking Bad, thematically, and it could be an interesting deviation from the superhero norms.
There’s no telling what Midthunder’s role might be or even whether or not she’s a new character or someone already established in the comics universes. It’s possible that the Kerry in question is minor character Kerry Dowenn – though given the description of Midthunder’s role, that seems unlikely. Kerry Dowenn is a tough special agent, which doesn’t appear to mesh with what we know of Legion’s Kerry.
Still, surprises are sure to be in store and you can bet that series producer Noah Hawley (Fargo) knows how to work the long game. While there’s no official word on when the series would air, should it be picked up, all signs seem to point in a positive direction. Barring an abysmal failure of the pilot, which doesn’t seem likely, we should see Legion sooner rather than later.
We’ll let you know when Legion gets an official premiere date on FX.

[h=1]X-Men TV Show Legion Casts The League’s Katie Aselton[/h]

Casting on Noah Hawley’s upcoming X-Men-based TV series Legion, has been moving along at a decent clip since the series was announced late last year. Given Hawley’s increased profile as a result of his Emmy-winning work on FX’s Fargo, it was no surprise to see the project quickly attracting a slew of talent. While the search for the series’ lead ended with Downton Abbey and The Guest star Dan Stevens, most of the supporting roles have been filled as well, with the likes of Aubrey Plaza, and two performers known to Hawley from Fargo season 2: Jean Smart and Rachel Keller – who played Floyd, the head of the Gerhardt clan and her rebellious granddaughter Simone, respectively.
The list of actors is certainly impressive, but as production on the pilot nears, another recognizable performer has been added to the X-Men spinoff series in a supporting role. Katie Aselton of FX’s The League has been cast as Amy, who, according to reports will be the older sister to Stevens’ character David Haller.

The initial report of Aselton’s casting came from Deadline, who broke the news earlier today with only word on the casting and the name of the character she would be playing. Naturally, the series being set in a universe tangentially related to the X-Men films produced under the 20th Century Fox banner, the question of whether or not Amy was a mutant or would bear any connection to the X-Men or mutantkind at all (in whatever way the show will be able to bear such a connection) was likely the first on most people’s lists.

But, as it turns out, according to a later report by EW the role is that of Haller’s sibling. Still, given that the series’ lead character is beleaguered by numerous split personalities, each in control of a different aspect of the mutant’s wide spectrum of power, there is a chance Aselton’s Amy may well prove to be more than just his “practical” older sister. And considering how, in the comics, David is the son of Professor Charles Xavier, any announcement of a familial relationship is bound to raise a few eyebrows – although it is unlikely the series will ever make a direct connection between David and Professor X.
At any rate, regardless of who or what Amy will or will not prove to be, Aselton’s casting offers proof that many decisions on FX’s casting begin in-house. Like Smart and Keller, Aselton has appeared on another of the network’s offerings – putting in seven seasons on the fantasy football comedy The League alongside her husband Mark Duplass, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, and Stephen Rannazzisi. With that series having recently ended, Aselton has more room in her schedule, and that space has apparently filled up rather quickly. In addition to her upcoming role in Legion, she’ll be appearing in season 2 of Hulu’s Casual, as well as season 2 of HBO’s Duplass-fest Togetherness. Aselton also recently landed parts in two feature films: Gus Van Sant’s The Sea of Trees and Bastards, alongside Owen Wilson and Ed Helms.
With so many projects lined up, it stands to reason that Hawley and the series’ writers aim to have Amy take on more of a limited supporting role, one that won’t require her to be on set as much as her other co-stars. But filming on the pilot is only starting this month, and should Legion move to series, there’s no telling where the story will take Amy or anyone else involved.

Screen Rant will have more details regarding FX’s Legion series as they are made available.

[h=1]Legion Producer Talks ‘Very Different’ X-Men Series; New Image Arrives[/h]

Superhero television is all the rage right now. Marvel Studios’ ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is entering its fourth season. Netflix entries Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been incredibly well received, with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and a Defenders team-up on the way (among others). Warner Bros.’ DC TV show entries are popular too, as evidenced by The CW series Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl (formerly of CBS), and Legends of Tomorrow. So it only makes sense that 20th Century Fox, holder of the film rights to the X-Men franchise, would want their own piece of the pie.
Last year, Fox worked out a deal with Marvel to adapt X-properties Hellfire and Legion as live action tv series. Legion began filming in March for FX, and revolves around a mutant whose powers give him a kind of multiple-personality disorder. While the character has a deep and storied continuity in the comics, it appears his identity will be streamlined for the show.
A recent instagram post by showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargo) has given us an additional glimpse at Dan Stevens in the starring role:

Simon Kinberg is a busy man, overseeing the Star Wars continuity (films, TV shows, comics, and games) and also acting as executive producer on the X-Men franchise for Fox. He recently discussed the challenge of of bringing the X-Men franchise to television.

Legion marks the first step to bringing a direct connection to the cinematic X-verse to television, and is overseen by Noah Hawley, who’s had tremendous creative success translating the Coen brothers’ film Fargo into an FX series with two distinctive season-long story arcs both interconnected with one another and, slyly and subtly, with the original movie.
This is an interesting development, since it was previously believed that Legion would have no ties to the X-universe of the movies. But that doesn’t mean the show will be just like the films, either:
Tonally, it’s very different. Noah is a genius — he wrote and created and directed the pilot to ‘Legion’ — and it is a very different sensibility than anything we’ve done with the ‘X-Men’ movies. Almost, I would say, as radically different as ‘Deadpool’ was from the mainline ‘X-Men’ movies. ‘Legion’ is, again, in a different direction: really character-based, really granular in terms of getting inside the details of the characters. It stands as part of the ‘X-Men’ universe, but it stands apart from it as well.
In all likelihood, if the Legion TV show does exist in a world filled with mutants from the big screen, it will only pay lip service to the already-convoluted X-Men continuity. It may be difficult for some fans to get excited about Legion as an X-Men spinoff, but at least the creative team attached gives hope that the show may excel at its own thing. With little to go off of, a wait-and-see approach seems the only recourse.

[h=1]Legion TV Show May Connect With the Marvel Cinematic Universe[/h]

Fox’s upcoming Legion TV series saw its trailer debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, which only stoked the already considerable fan interest in this adaptation of the X-Men-based comic book series. Starring Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) as David Haller, a mutant whose extraordinary power is linked to his multiple-personality disorder, Legion is only connected to the established X-Men films in the sense that they both exist in a universe with super-powered mutants.
Showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargo, Bones) has already told fans not to expect any major X-Men to show up in the Legion TV series. Now, however, we are seeing hints that the Legion series might actually connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel has provided an overview of incoming additions to the MCU, from newcomers to be established in upcoming films and TV series (Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, Ego: The Living Planet, Captain Marvel) to recently-introduced characters who will soon be fleshed out even further (Luke Cage, Black Panther). Listed among them is Legion, with the show’s 2017 release date noted along with the character’s biography.

Legion’s background as the son of X-Men leader Charles Xavier is not expected to play a role in the show at this point, but this aspect of the source material is included on Marvel’s post. Clicking on the Read More! link at the bottom of the entry leads to a page devoted to the X-Men: Legacy comic book series, part of the Marvel NOW! continuity. There is a strong possibility that this page on Marvel’s site is merely intended to gather together the different Marvel characters and properties that were showcased at Comic-Con, and not an explicit sign that Legion will be part of the MCU.
Still, we have heard rumblings as recently as earlier this month that Fox and Marvel – a historically tense creative partnership – may be looking to collaborate on a project. It has been popularly held that said project is more than likely another shot at rebooting Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four. Fox’s most recent attempt to breathe life into the dormant property infamously crashed and burned last year and was savaged by fans and critics alike. The world is not exactly clamoring for another Fantastic Four – at least not anytime soon – but with Marvel and Sony bringing Spider-Man: Homecoming into the fold, Fox could use Legion as a relatively low-risk way to hook into the immensely popular MCU, especially if it takes place in a supposedly parallel universe.
This prospect is undoubtedly exciting to fans hoping for an “X-Marvel” partnership to bring all their favorite comic book characters under the roof where they (arguably) belong. Yet there is a strong case to be made for allowing Legion to stand on its own: given the snarl of conflicting timelines established by the X-Men films – a situation not exactly helped by this year’s somewhat divisive X-Men: Apocalypsea fresh take on an increasingly crowded genre which stands apart from what came before could be an exciting prospect, one with a slew of possibilities unhindered by an existing shared universe.

[h=1]Professor X May Appear on Legion TV Show; Will Be Legion’s Father[/h]

Since the dawn of FX’s Legion, fans already knew they’d be seeing a different side of the X-Men. Producer and showrunner Noah Hawley stated from the get-go the first Fox-Marvel TV co-venture would deal more with the psychological than the superpowered side of David Charles Haller. For the most part, though, Hawley has dispelled the notion that the TV show would tie directly into the film world.
However, hints here and there indicated a few connective tissues may still link up between the X-Men comics, film, and Legion – in particularly, those of Waller’s well-known father.
During FX and Marvel’s Legion panel at New York Comic-Con, the showrunner hinted that we’ll be seeing more of Charles Xavier (via CBR). Consisting of Legion cast members Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton, as well as Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb, executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner, and Hawley, the panelists discussed what fans can expect from the show. Of particular interest to fans is Hawley’s admission of connectivity:

“I think there’s a certain degree to where that’s to be determined. We’re in the subjective reality of David. We also begin to realize, we’re seeing this world through multiple layers of the confusion and signals that Dan’s character is getting. I think it would be a spoiler in a true sense to say. I really like the idea of making things that are unexpected and yet feel inevitable. I will say we are true to the origins of this character, and leave it at that.”

While the show is mostly interested in developing Haller and his subjective substrate, in addition its own cast, it’s entirely feasible that other links to the broader Marvel X-Men world could emerge. When asked for further clarification about patronage, Hawley did admit that Charles Xavier is still an integral part of who Haller is and where he came from – indicating that Professor X may even appear at some point:
“I don’t think you can tell that story without that element to it, so I will say you probably will [see that referenced in some way].”
Stevens, who plays the titular character, also noted that “there’s a wheelchair in the first scene.” TV head Loeb also fielded a question dealing specifically with the overall continuity of the Marvel television and cinematic universes:
“X-Men characters live in the Fox world, and we live in a different world. The fact that I’m sitting here is an indication of bridges that are being made, and people like Lauren who are facilitating that and making that happen.”
His response certainly gives fans a glimmer of hope that, one day, a shared Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox universe could exist. However, producer Donner notes that the likelihood of shared feature and TV connectivity is low at present.

[h=1]Marvel’s X-Men Spinoff Legion Adds Jemaine Clement to the Cast[/h]

Legion has gone from being a curiosity among fans of comic book TV series to one of the more actively anticipated upcoming stabs at the genre as fans find out more about it. Specifically, that it will indeed hold to the comics canon of the Legion character being Professor Xavier’s son and Jeph Loeb has made the surprising revelation that the series represents the nascent stages of a possible unification of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and X-Men properties (or, at least, a cooling of tensions between 20th Century Fox and Marvel).
We can now add one more name to the series’ growing cast of characters to watch: a cast that already counts Dan Stevens (The Guest) and Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreations) among its ranks. Actor Jemaine Clement, whom many will remember from Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi’s supernatural comedy movie What We Do In The Shadows and such films as Men in Black 3, is confirmed to be part of the Legion cast too.
Showrunner Noah Hawley announced the news via Instagram (see below), confirming that the Flight of the Conchords star will become part of the series. Stevens is starring as David Heller aka “Legion,” a powerful mutant afflicted with multiple personalities (each with their own abilities, weaknesses and drives) who also happens to be the estranged son of X-Men leader Charles Xavier. Professor X will exist as part of the series’ lore, but has not been confirmed to appear on the TV show.

As revealed in the Legion San Diego Comic-Con Trailer, the series features Stevens’ Heller as a resident of a highly-secured mental institution whose overseers believe him to be the most powerful mutant ever encountered. Believing himself to be mentally ill, the character attempts to unravel the mysteries behind which of his confusing memories (and also visions of elaborate, surreal occurances like reversed-gravity and impromptu dance sequences) are real and which are false, with the aid of doctors and therapists who may or may not have his actual best interests at heart.Fandom interest in the series has spiked ever since Loeb began referring to it as a “Marvel show” and talking about bridges being made with Fox’s X-Men films, though at this point it remains unclear just how much Legion will have to do with either property. Thus far, it would appear that Legion is existing largely in a “universe” of its own, but that the tone and Hawley’s professed goal of looking to the original source material as inspiration will place it more in line with Marvel’s approach to adaptation than Fox’s – though both studios are, tangentially, associated with the production.

[h=1]Legion Confirmed for February Premiere With New Promo[/h]

X-Men and mutants aren’t only going to be appearing on the big screen in 2017; in fact, before Hugh Jackman makes his final appearance as Wolverine in Logan (which hits theaters next March), Dan Stevens of The Guest and Downton Abbey fame will make his debut as David Haller on the FX TV series, Legion. The latter follows David as he moves in and out of psychiatric hospitals, under the (mis)belief that he has a severe and unusual case of schizophrenia. Just like in the world of X-Men comic books, though, David is really the son of Charles Xavier and has similar powers to those possessed by his father – meaning that the voices he hears in his head are, in fact, the thoughts of other people (and not “voices” that he’s imagining).
As recounted during our Total Geekall podcast recap of New York Comic-Con 2016, the Legion pilot episode – part of which was screened for the people in attendance at the TV show’s NYCC 2016 panel – has the same off-beat and, at times, downright bizarre tone/style as the promos that have been released for the TV show, thus far. Yet another mind-bending promo in that vein has been released online for Legion too; though this one comes with the bonus of a specific premiere date frame for the series, to go with the latest batch of strange (brief) clips from the show.

Legion is now officially slated to debut on FX in February 2017, though an exact premiere date has yet to be formally announced. Fans of Legion creator Noah Hawley’s other FX TV series, Fargo, ought to be all the more pleased by this news; seeing as season 3 of Fargo may well start airing not too long after Legion season 1 concludes (assuming that FX doesn’t allow the two shows to overlap one another in terms of their air dates). That means there may be a constant supply of Hawley’s brand of “weirdness” airing on FX for his fans to enjoy, throughout the first half of next year.

Descriptions of the Legion footage that was shown at NYCC 2016 suggest that the TV series is shaping up to feel like “X-Men as envisioned by the creator of Fargo,” in the best way possible. The producers of the X-Men movie franchise have made it no secret that the peculiar sensibility of Hawley’s Legion TV show pitch was what convinced them to sign off on the small screen X-Men project to begin with. It’s, presumably, been for related reasons that the overseers of the X-Men cinematic property have been so vague about how exactly Legion will tie into the upcoming X-Men films – not wanting to place unnecessary restrictions on Hawley’s artistic vision that would only allow it to be linked with future X-Men movies in a superficial way.
Setting aside the discussion of connections between Legion and the X-Men films aside for a moment, Hawley’s new FX TV series boasts a cast of talented character actors on the same level as the cast members that have appeared on Fargo thus far. In addition to Stevens (who, between Legion and his role in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, could enjoy a proper breakout year in 2017), the Legion acting roster also includes Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), Kate Aselton (The League), Amber Midthunder (Longmire) and Fargo alum Rachel Keller, among others.
Takes as a whole then, Legion has the potential to even further demonstrate the range of what the superhero TV show genre can encompass. This would allow Hawley’s show to build on the success of other recent additions to the genre – perhaps most notably, the critically-acclaimed Marvel/Netflix TV series like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. It will only be a handful of months (from the time of writing this) until we find out for certain if that’s the case with Legion, thankfully.

[h=1]Legion Isn’t Part of Marvel TV’s ‘Game Plan,’ Says Creator[/h]

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to grow exponentially since its rollout in 2008, spreading to include such formats as short films and, most recently, webisodes. But it’s within the medium of television that the shared universe has really started to take off, with Agents of SHIELD over on ABC leading the charge and no fewer than six series currently unfolding on Netflix. As part of this ever-more-important initiative, Marvel has continued to announce high-profile new shows, including Runaways for Hulu and the X-Men-related Legion for FX.
With these new properties continuing to crop up, however, an important question has arisen from the fanbase: will these new, seemingly disparate entities be part of the MCU, or will they remain independent stories with no overarching connections?
Now, it seems, we have our answer. When speaking with Entertaintment Weekly (h/t CBR), Legion creator and showrunner Noah Hawley explained:
“Obviously, this show is a dramatic departure from [Marvel’s] other shows. They’re controlling a roll-out of a series of characters on Netflix that are interconnected, so there’s a game-plan there for all of those pieces. This is a satellite that they didn’t generate and wasn’t trying to fit in, and was something the network wanted.”

This is actually a very revealing answer. The project didn’t originate with the head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb (who is an active participant in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe television chapters), but it was something that he agreed to provide feedback on and a certain level of collaboration with. Given Marvel and Fox’s historically frosty relationship, it surprised many to learn of multiple new X-Men-attached shows entering production, but the tidbit that FX itself proposed at least part of this deal is the missing puzzle piece. Halwey’s answer also seems to reinforce what Loeb himself recently said – just worded a little more plainly.

This is both an invigorating and dispiriting piece of news. On the one hand, without having to worry about the larger continuity of the MCU, it frees Legion’s writing staff up tremendously. With SHIELD, Agent Carter, the also-newly-announced Inhumans, and all of the various Netflix properties, the small screen is suddenly running the danger of becoming overpopulated with interconnected Marvel projects. Even the biggest of Marvel fans have to worry about finding enough time in the day to follow their favorite meta-franchise across all of these different properties, making their media consumption, essentially, into something of a part-time job.
On the other hand, however, there is a certain level of narrative certitude that comes with being part of a whole that is already so well-established and -defined. This is, after all, a driving force behind Agents of SHIELD’s continued creativity, and the opportunity to help further flesh out all the nooks and crannies of such a vast playground must be alluring, to creators as well as fans. And let’s not forget about the guaranteed ratings that come with being an extension of the MCU, which helps to keep the Netflix shows going strong but which wasn’t enough, unfortunately, to save Carter from an early demise. All of which is to say: the jury’s still out on whether this will prove to be a boon or a hindrance for Legion, and it’ll continue to be out for quite some time to come.

As the last of the already established comic book universes to make the jump from the big screen to the small screen, X-Men is starting things off with a bang, launching two shows: an X-Men show on FOX with direct ties to the cinematic franchise, and Legion on FX with little connection to the movie franchise (at least initially). These shows will no doubt be compared to each other and the rest of comic book TV, but Legion already stands alone in its unique look.
With Legion set to premiere on February 8, marketing is starting to ramp up. There have already been several teasers and posters, and now FX has released several new photos highlighting various members of the cast. Many of the photos emphasize Legion’s very unique look. Paired with the subject matter, Legion‘s psychedelic approach could make for a trippy show.
Legion is from the mind of the Fargo TV show creator Noah Hawley, and if Fargo is any evidence, this comic book series is going to be an exciting addition to FX’s lineup.

While FOX’s upcoming and still untitled X-Men series will have more connections to the movie franchise, Legion’s separation may work in its favor, allowing the cast and crew to make their own vision without having to worry about the rest of the universe. And considering just how complicated that universe has become, making sure Legion is part of its own invented world will also work to temper audience expectations, as no one will be waiting on Hugh Jackman or James McAvoy to make an appearance when the series finally premieres.
Looking at the gallery of images, it’s clear Dan Stevens’s David Haller is the protagonist based on his prominence. In the X-Men comics, Haller is also known as the mutant Legion, the son of Charles Xavier, aka Professor X. He’s able to absorb other people’s personalities, which allows him to use the powers of any mutant he absorbs.
It’s not yet clear how obviously they’re going to state Haller’s parentage in the show, but the rest of the character seems to be fairly consistent with the comics. David is a diagnosed schizophrenic in a mental hospital with other colorful characters like Rachel Keller’s Syd Barrett and Aubrey Plaza’s Lenny Busker. When David eventually discovers his powers, he can’t be sure if they’re actually his abilities, or whether it’s a hallucination, leading him to question his reality.
Legion premieres Wednesday February 8 on FX

Amazing show, brilliant cast
We are 4 episodes into the show and still we are not sure are we seeing real world or reality created by David. This is first show where sound stage is so amazing and is used as a que to differentiate between real world and David's world. If you guys are watching it, watch it again with a good headphone and you will be able to differentiate between various realities.
Camera work and editing is top notch. TV has become so much epic that a movie has to be too good to impress me these days.
So who else is following this show? Spartan 117

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

So while Playing Control, I found a journal which said that a bathroom is missing in Islamabad Beurue of Control. With Alan Wake and Control seems to be connected worlds. Even our city is in the universe as well. No wonder those Trail 5 and Trail 6 are haunted.
did you know you can see @NaNoW credited in the game too ? :p

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

I usually stay away from animes. Vinland saga changed the way i look at my life, and my experiences within. I recommend every breathing human being to watch this animated masterpiece at least once fromstart to finish.
After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
