Homeshopping - Fraud at its finest

Hello everyone,

I just had the worst experience from Homeshopping.pk and I would like to share it so people can be aware of what they are actually doing.

I ordered a laptop, MSI GS73VR 6RF Stealth Pro for around 166,990 Rs. Paid the amount right away on Sunday and received the laptop on Wednesday.

I removed the bubble wrap and noticed the laptop box was old, rough and completely damaged, with scratches, corners torn etc.

Anyway, I opened up the box and found out there were no CDs, protective plastic, etc. Just the charger cable and the laptop itself.

I thought, as long as the product is okay, I'm fine with it. I noticed the laptop didn't feel new, I looked at the back and found one screw was tampered with and the metal strip where it says "STEALTH" was poorly glued to the laptop.

It was hard to digest and I ran a check. It's called Hard Drive Sentinel.

I found out that this laptop was actually more than 119 days USED! It means if someone used it for 12 hours each day, it would have taken him 6 months to reach this number.

It made me extremely furious and I called them, they were not being cooperative at first and kept telling me to e-mail support, I asked them to let me talk to your support team but they refused. I know that cyber crime law now exists in Pakistan and Saqiscity.com is the prime example to see it at work. So I told them that you should be aware of the fact that this counts as fraud and if you wont let me talk to your support team, I'll seek legal help, upon which they finally let me talk to them.

I talked and they asked me to return it, I've returned the product and I'm looking forward to hear from them now.

I will share the pictures if someone is curious, but a word of advice to all out there ordering from them that by all means order from anyone you want, but make sure to verify your product upon delivery.
And do report them if you're a victim.

I will also keep updating this thread regarding how it ends.

Update:

So here it goes, after I called them about the matter I posted above, they said I'll be refunded my money since they might not have a new piece of this. I kept waiting but they called me again and said your product will be shipped on Monday, I was happy that I wont have to look for another laptop and the laptop was already on its way.

I received it today and I asked the TCS guy to let me check it, he said it is not allowed. So I accepted it and guess what? All the CDs were in there and even the door hanger! Freaking awesome, isn't it? But you know what was missing?
A TOTAL OF 1 TB OF HARD DRIVE AND 8 GIGS OF FREAKING RAM!!!!

But obviously, it wasn't just a downgraded version of a new laptop, it was again, a used laptop. The screws were opened up and they put a new SSD in to fool me, but pity their technicians were so damn stupid that they didn't even give me the right specifications.

To sum it up, it was even a worst deal from the previous one. Obviously, I called them again and I told them about it, the manager Sohail said we can close this case, return the laptop and we will refund the money. He offered a compensation too for the time wasted but I refused it. He told me about the vendor, Laptop World also known as PakLap are the provider of this laptop, so I would warn you people to be careful about it.

I am still strongly considering reporting to FIA Cyber Crime Unit.

So here it is, hopefully I will get a refund in a timely manner or I'll simply let law deal with them.
Again, I don't want to defame neither PakLap nor Homeshopping, but it is my responsibility to warn you guys.

I know for the fact that homeshopping`s owner is available on the said group and has come forward in the past if people had issues. Though to be honest he`s a prime example of an ignorant Pakistani businessman

Tried Homeshopping in 2015 and I had a pathetic experience of delayed shipments for items within a single order and not getting the same thing as I ordered. Although nowhere near in magnitude as yours have been, it illustrates to show that they are not new to ridiculously poor service. Needless to say, but I haven't ordered from this site since. And I notice that one of the things that HS does is have product pages for items they don't have/will never have in stock to get more hits on their website. Thats another fraudulent business practice.

And I think, in your case, instead of Cyber Crime laws, this comes under Consumer Protection laws.

Its a frustrating experience.

No idea about that because I ordered a phone from homeshopping and they told me to open and check the phone and if there is any fault, I should return it. It was pin-packed brand new and I bought another phone from them after that. I had a nice experience both of the times.

I don't think it was courier who delivered me the phones, probably their own employees.

Sorry to hear about that brother. I was a victim of fraud from home shopping as well. I bought a computer processor from them which was used with many other issues (Different box, no books and sticker). Luckily I got my refund after 1 month of fighting. I hope you will get your refund too. Don't opt for replacement. Go for refund.

HomeShopping delivers products through their own delivery staff in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi/Islamabad.

They only use couriers in other cities.

The courier will not let you open the package, their own delivery staff will let you open it before paying provided you open it in front of him.

If you choose to pick up stuff from their delivery point/office in Lahore, they let you open the package before paying.

Slightly OT, I bought an iPhone from iShopping.pk, they delivered 9pm at night but their delivery guys let me open the package after I paid and stayed there until I was satisfied.

your issue turned out to be cuz of PakLaps!

That is one of the website where i've had seen many people complain from on social media.
(Not that their store is any better)

Hopefully its a learning experience for the folks at HSN.
To validate future vendors before letting them use their platform.

That's what I asked Sohail of Homeshopping, that who is your provider? He said it is PakLap, I confirmed again that "doesn't it says Laptop World on your website?" and he said yes, they use this name but the provider is PakLap, he even talked to Ahmad of PakLap while I was on line.

Later, I also got a call from PakLap regarding my issue with the laptop.

All in all, they all know what's going on and they are all in it.

I have tried homeshopping.pk a number of times and never had any issue. Bought 50-60k worth cell phones several times, all good. What happened now I don't know, but honestly I think they do not mean to deceive anybody intentionally.
