Xbox boss talks about the decision to delay Halo Infinite
Phil Spencer said all this in an Animal Crossing interview
Xbox chief Phil Spencer appeared on Gary Whitta’s Animal Talking talk show on Wednesday night following the announcement of Halo Infinite’s delay. He spoke a bit about the decision to delay the game on the show, which he said was “his call to make.”
Halo Infinite will no longer be released in November alongside Microsoft’s next-generation console, the Xbox Series X. A new release date was not immediately given — only that it’s now coming in 2021. He said the decision won’t impact other launch plans, however.
Spencer said Microsoft and 343 Industries starting talking about the decision “late last week” after going over certain options — like shipping parts of the game separately. Ultimately, however, Spencer said that just wasn’t the right fit for a game like Halo Infinite; a delay was the most fitting decision.

The Xbox tentpole was originally expected with the launch of the new Xbox Series X console, but underwhelmed reactions to a campaign demo this summer sent 343’s designers back to the drawing board, and moved the games release into the next year. 343’s update on Tuesday acknowledged fans’ disappointment with the content slice shown in July, and offered half a dozen screenshots as proof the studio has worked hard on polishing the game since then.
“The reality is that the art and visuals weren’t at the bar we hold for Halo — even in a work-in-progress state,” said Neill Harrison, 343’s director of art management. “The feedback was humbling, and it also pushed us to look at additional opportunities for improvement.”

The Coalition is actively involved in the development of Halo Infinite.
Well .. it still looks like a last-gen game running at a higher resolution .. not sure why they keep delaying it if its content complete.
